Mr. McAfee has far more a sense of humor than I credited him. He gets big props, which is nice because before I heard that he has some really creepy interests.
Since one of my non-superhero identities is a tech-support guy for Windows, I actually know the process to this. It's as follows:
Programs and Features (Windows 7 [footnote]In Windows XP it's Add and Remove Programs, and in Windows 8 it's Programs and Features UNLESS you are uninstalling a metro app in which case you have to find it on your start menu and click on the Uninstall charm. Or maybe it's not a charm. I'm not kidding.[/footnote])
~ One at a time, find all programs that have the word McAfee somewhere in the title.
~ Click on Uninstall (or Uninstall/Change or Change)[footnote]You can also right-click on a program and choose Uninstall or whatever from the context menu.[/footnote]
~ Follow the pop-out dialog.
~ You may have to reboot after each uninstallation. If it prompts you, reboot.
~ If you want to be thorough, you may want to use a registry cleaner or a garbage-file scourer, but this really shouldn't be necessary unless there's a software ambiguity conflict.
Enjoy your anti-virus-free continued existence, and remember that safe websurfing habits will stop most malware attacks far better than any anti-virus software in existence.
