Now a Witch and some SilverDude?
The movie will be one big RoyalRumble!!

The raccoon is in Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man has his movie coming out after Avengers 2. I doubt either of them will be in this one

Avengers 2: This time...it's Falafel!

I'm very interested to see if Whedon will approach them like they Marvel did in The Ultimates. There was some serious incestuous vibes there. But the way Pietro's powers were portayed were pretty cool. Bryan Hitch should storyboard the entire movie!

Not going to lie, I was actually a bit disappointed by this news. Not so much because I have anything against Pietro or Wanda, but because as long as the rights are split between FOX and Marvel, the most important part of the twins' backstory - the fact that they're Magneto's children - has to be either glossed over or ignored entirely...

I thought Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were owned by Fox on account of being part of the X-Men franchise? Or am I missing something here? In any case, it'll be a little odd to see them in a universe where Magneto doesn't exist. Should be interesting, though.

That video says more about the matter than anyone else possibly could (without just repeating what is said in the video).

Because they first showed up as characters in the Avengers comics they can be used outside of the x-men. But only as long as you do not mention mutants, Magneto or X-men.

Long live lawyers I guess
Actually, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch's first appearance was in X-Men (volume 1) #4 as part of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. It wasn't until one year later in Avengers (volume 1) #16 when they left their father's team and joined Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

I'm curious as to how this will play out since Fox owns the IP rights to X-Men and all things Mutant (which also could complicate Namor's film debut since he was a golden age character but is mentioned as the first mutant). Perhaps Fox and Disney/Marvel can reach an agreement in order to bring these two in the sequel.

Damn it no! Marvel have hated me for a long time and now Whedon! Just give me Doctor Strange already. Why will they not do this for my? Did I piss them off somehow? Don't make me wait until phase 3. Don't waste time on Ant-Man or Captain America 2, just give me a Doctor Strange movie and then stick him in The Avengers 2.

A Doctor Strange movie is being "actively developed" as of right now! We're still going to have to wait for Phase 3, unfortunately.

Hay don't hate on Tigra, she's awsome. I'm hoping she'll at least get a cameo in phase 3.

The mainstream cinema going public is not ready for Tigra, with the honourable exception of Japan of course. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are not exactly the first characters I would choose for an Avengers movie, but I have faith in Whedon to implement them well.

You know what Avengers 2 really needs? A plot. A bad-guy from a previous movie coming back with an army out of nowhere... "just because", isn't going to work again. I don't care how witty the Joss Whedon banter is. It worked in the first movie because apparently that's all they could think of to get all the heroes together, but now that they're a team, try and add a smidgen of complexity, if it isn't too much trouble.

With having to ignore mutants and their father, they will feel shoehorned in I fear. But we'll see how it goes.

I can agree with that, given they have setup Thanos at the end of Avengers, I would say something bigger and more awesome will happen. Keeping the first film simple is what made it work to introduce the concept to the general public, now they can make it more complex.

Well I agree with you to an extent. Thats why I said Phase three. That will be after GOTG and if that goes well, then the public will be ready for Tigra. Heck i'd say the public is okay with cat ladies if Avatar is any indication.

I steadfastly refuse to take the bait. I will not Google Nextwave. Instead, I'll just swallow my geek pride and admit that I have no idea what that is.
At it's most basic? It's a Warren Ellis series that's a borderline parody of the Marvel Universe with lots of explosions (many of which are provided by a woman who's superpower is basically defined as "make stuff blow up" [and stealing your stuff]). It's actual canon status within the mainstream Marvel U is debatable because it wasn't intended to be part of 616, but where the fans would really like to believe that it is.

It's a...'quirky'...series to say the least. It's all rather absurd, really.
Damn it. That sounds like something I'd really enjoy. It's just so dangerous to walk into a comic book store. You go in expecting to pick up one or two books and an hour later you leave $60-$100 poorer.

I'll see if they have it for download. :p

Of all the characters that I would imagine going up against the "Mad Titan" himself, Quicksilver wasn't very high on my list. Neither was Scarlet Witch, although I admit, at her craziest levels she could probably dust him off with relative ease.

Still, I don't have much faith in a sequel to this movie...but time shall tell, ultimately.

I was being a little bit tongue in cheek to be honest, but you are right, GOTG is Marvel's way of testing the water for the more 'out there' characters.

Wanda and Pietro, without Magneto, and without being called Mutants, and with no other Mutants...Yeah, that's not a weird fucking decision at all!

Can't we just get Doctor Strange, Ant Man, the Wasp, Ms. Marvel (without the whole kidnap and rape thing, if at all possible), the Vision, and maybe some name drops of other SHIELD assistants, like Jessica Drew? That would be nice.

This could get tricky. In order to explain who these two are, you need to go into their history. In order to do that, one would think you'd need to go mention their father, mutants, the X-men, and a whole bunch of other stuff that Marvel is not allowed to touch at the moment. I wonder how they're going to pull that off.
