Well, first of all
Why is there no turn based MMO's? As far as I know FFXI isnt turn based. I think that turn based would be perfect for MMO's, tactics would get extremely advanced.
Second of all, why is there hardly any JRPG's on PC?
And third of all, what are some good pc/ps3/wii/360 turn-based JRPG's?
Also, whats with JRPGs and no customization?

And what are some good JRPGs for iphone? Turn based or not, I dont care.

i think its the same reason there hasnt been any multiplayer turnbased rpg's like ever. maby its just too complicated or maby its coz all the worlds developers dont seem to grasp that CO-OP GAMES RULE.
and about no jrpg's on pc i think is coz its not realy a platform the japanese use. mainly coz its an american company and look howmany jrpg's have been on the xbox and then look again to see if there were any good ones.

Indeed, co-op is awesome.

Because the standard JRPG format of "let's all stand in a row and take turns hitting each other like we're on a battlefield in Europe, circa 1730; doesn't lend itself well to multiplayer. Final Fantasy VI had an option where you could hook up four controllers and everyone took one character and moved when their turn arrived. Not once did I ever find an opportunity to use this option, nor do I think I would have been able to convince anyone to play along had I actually done so.
Second of all, why is there hardly any JRPG's on PC?

No audience. JRPG fans are almost exclusively console gamers. Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII were both released on PC through Eidos Interactive shortly after their respective Playstation releases. Neither one enjoyed the levels of sales that console releases did. There's just no market for JRPGs on PC.
And third of all, what are some good pc/ps3/wii/360 turn-based JRPG's?

If you own a PS3 you can download a couple of Final Fantasy games from the PSN store, as well as Wild Arms. They were PS1 titles and would be found under the PS1 classics section. In all honesty, that's the best you can do. The JRPG is a dying breed and I feel it best to point you in the direction of titles that were made at the height of it's popularity, rather than the underwhelming titles being released now.
Sorry to sound droll, but that's just how things are. JRPGs need to start evolving quickly or the entire genre is going to die off.
Well, you have good points.
And about the downloading them off of PSX, ive completed final fantasy 7, 8, 9 and so on and wild arms and most other PS1 JRPG's.

And the multiplayer with 4 controllers wasnt what I meant. I mean creating your own characters and playing together, not as fun otherwise.

If you have an Xbox 360, try Lost Odyssey, it is a good game, its really long.

And a big turn based MMO sounds like a free one that you could get straight of the internet or something like that.

All of your above comments are very good points, but I wouldn't say the JRPG genre is dying off, there are still some good titles. Have you played persona 3 or 4 on the PS2? I recommend them if not, they are my favorite JRPGS. (Although I can't think of any in the current gen, but there is plenty on the PS2)

They do release some Japanese RPGs on PC but nowhere near all of them because they don't sell that well and their existence isn't that well publicised. I have Grandia 2 and Last Remnant on PC. Last Remnant was on special offer on Steam last time I checked and is more than worth playing on PC if you like turn based combat.

Why don't they sell well? I can't say for sure, but the home market for these games is in Japan and the PC games press often writes them off before playing them.

I think that the biggest turn based MMO is Dofus but I haven't played it due to not being that interested in MMOs.

Given the nature of MMO's, turn-based combat would be worse than the system they share now(not that the current system is bad) Forcing players to wait for the other player to pick their move before anything happens may make things "fair" you are also F***ed if you fight against someone who's lagging or suddenly goes AFK

From what i've seen, Champions Online has a more Action-based combat which could serve to make MMO's more exciting

EDIT:

Actually in at least FF's 4,5 and 6 in the options menu you could set which party members are controlled by P1 or P2. and lets not forget Secret of Mana and FF Crystal Chronicles

Played Dofus years and years ago, I recall that it sucked due to everything costing real money due to no subscription fees.

I'd gladly play a 2D turn-based fantasy RPG, since I play a lot of single-player games like that.

There are a few PS2 titles worthy of mention, but he was specifically asking about current generation. And to be honest, there aren't many current gen JRPG titles worth mentioning.
Yeah that's true sadly, heres hoping FFXIII will change that anyhow.

I'm pretty sure there's some turn-based MMOs. Atlantica, maybe? I'm not that knowledgeable, unfortunately.

There was also an option to do a similar thing in FFIX, albeit only with 2 controllers as far as I know.

1) Actually, there was this old MMO... Fairyland, I think. That was turn based.
2) Not a clue.
3) NOT Eternal Sonata.
4) The developers spent a lot of time creating that character model, and don't want that stupid armour stuff messing it up.

5) Not a clue again, sorry.

With turn based games it removes the skill factor turning the game into pie charts and graphs.

Harsh but true, turn takings should stay single player.

Hey Eternal Sonata was a great game, the only thing wrong with it in my opinion was no camera. I really wanted to see the world around me but was restricted :(

Why not Eternal Sonata?
Terrible voice acting in both English and Japanese, unlikeable characters, combat system that gets boring after 5 minutes, and stupid distractions.

Example: You need to cross a bridge, but some goats are in the way. Do you kill them? No. You go around, collect a piece of paper, and give it to a goat. Well, there's enough room for your party to fit now. But no, you need to get the other two goats some paper, sit through a horribly voiced cutscene, and then move on.

Oh, and also, the further you get in the game, the more the combat system acts like a dick. Like changing around the buttons used to attack and the like during battle.

That, Eternal Sonata, is a massive dick move.

Probably has something to do with Sony and Nintendo being Japanese companies.
