Look I know a lot of people are going to ***** but he's right. Sort of. Sure there are a lot of people still playing fps's on Pc's. That said consoles out sell them 90% of the time on multi-platform games. There wouldn't be all this talk of "PC GAMING IS NOT DEAD!" if there wasn't the sense that it was headed in that direction. And of course since every platform has fanboys I'll imagine the previous ten pages are filled with elegant discourse about how incorrect he is mixed with the occasional frothing rant or barely legible monosyllabic blurt vaguely resembling a stream of obscenities, but there's a reason all the big studio development these days seems to be for consoles. And I say this even as I'm playing civ 5 as we speak.

Correction: Hardly anyone plays CONSOLE shooters anymore. Why? Because no one likes to be on 1 of the 2 maps to have clunky controls and be yelled at that you are a negroid homosexual and that you should suck anything that has to do with your lower part of your body.

And maybe that isn't even true (I guess some like to do that... I don't know)

What might be true is: Nobody plays Point & Click anymore, nobody plays Chess anymore or nobody plays Pong anymore.
What do you have against blacks and gays and chess?

Absolutely nothing, why?

....Wow, great PR there Microsoft. Plus, you shouldn't cut PC shooters that much since YOU MAKE WINDOWS!
Drawing core gamers from Windows to Kinect (if that even happens) probably will only be a minor success. I don't see the core being where Kinect will be a major success...
(plus I still find motion-controls to be questionable at best, but I haven't really experience Kinect yet...)

*gasp*

I always suspected Kinect might steal the business of Crysis and ARMA's niche.

console FPS is a huge pile of dicks good for nothing but a few rounds of multiplayer with your mates while stoned/drunk. a gamepad is just no comparision to a keyboard and mouse.

TBH. You lot probably don't wanna hear this. But he's likely to be statistically right. I'd bet the amount of people who play online shooters on a 360 alone is probably more than a PC. So count a PS3 into that and it's probably more true than most of you would like to admit.

I find it easier to use a control pad than an M&K. But that's because I've only started PC gaming recently really. I enjoy a lot of PC fps'. But I'd be willing to wager that competitive online fps is being highly dominated by the consoles in sheer numbers.
I doubt that, they may be playing some games more but considering the mass FPS library PC has from the past and all the games are still played in one form another I don't see it. If you said most newer cross platform FPS titles are played on console then I would agree with you, even then there are exceptions.

Maybe he means hardly anyone plays halo or gears of war on the PC.. in which case I'd agree with him, but add that that says more about those games than anything else..

Considering that he's looking at the world through microsoft blinders, it would make sense.

Especially if, for example, he did no real work or research on his own and just pulled statistics from say, the Xbox live #s for their console gamers, then tried to compare it to their Games for Microsoft Network #s.

Sounds like someone just skewing the numbers for a favorable plug via his company's stance.

in other news, I'd love to kick this guy in the nuts.
