Thank god I've already bought a Lancer, but I hope this doesn't escalate to all "weapons" or taking them away from people who have bought them already

ok there are 2 reasons that can be responsible for that (i belive its probably a mix of both)
-sales boost for the "gun like" items (which will aventualy return...)
-some dumb protest against these inosent decorations... i mean seriosly these things are probably the least of anyones problems...

It's because they want to be the new Nintendo so everything needs to be kiddy friendly. This is why I quit XBL. Actually, no. I quit ever since they implemented those retarded looking ninteno "mii" ripoffs.

I can see why having a manical school shooter portrayed onto a heavily armored 3D persona, looking comically threatening and holding a ridiculously oversized assault rifle would give anti-video game enthusiasts the chance to say:

"I TOLD YOU BRO

I TOLD YOU ABOUT THE VIDEO GAMES

IT KEEPS HAPPENING"
Referance get!

I dont have a gun, well I have a portal one but that comes with companion cube.

Well, this sucks. I have a lancer+COG armour for my avatar and I'm glad they aren't taking it away from people who already have it, but if this is some sort of overprotective censorship thing, i think they're really going too far.

It annoys me that they have to make all the avatars smile and dance like children while playing with avatar items like a servo skull from space marine.

the target audience is like 16- 25 so why not have a few badass avatars? Why, when you get the kung fu dummy for instance, does he back into the dummy with a fake karate pose and get a comedy cartoon shock turn around an proceed to do lame karate moves on it and smile and go YAAAY DURRRR

do you really think that kids are the main buyers of avatar items? It's adults with credit cards, I spend 160 or my reward points earned from surveys and stuff on a servo skull hoping that I would have a cool floating skull accompanying my somber character because the game is an 18 in my country but no, he dances around going HURRDURRR PWETTY SKULL YAAAAY HURRRR SCANMESCANME YAAAY

what is the problem with having badass avatars? Do they really think anyone over the age of 8 finds the cutesy style of avatars fun? Even my little brothers think they are lame. Target audience YOUNG, MOSTLY MALE, what do a lot of young male's enjoy? A badass representation of themselves, looking cool and mean not chasing butterflies and laughing and playing with toy looking avatar items cos anything that resembles a weapon is nono naughty for the babas

I've never created a character and thought "hmm you know what? This muscley, scarred, deadly representation of me in this game really needs more 'toddler' yeah I want him to hop around and swing his sword like he was playing soldier in the woods, laughing like he was 'special'"

No IT HAZ TO BE NICE FUR DA KIDZ HURRRR WE'Z NINTENDO NOW DURRRRR.

God it inflames my nerd rage to no end.

Think of the children?? Why, can people see my avatar that are not my friend? I'm not in the habit of adding children to my friends list, so this seems fairly pointless.

But they are not guns!! To my knowledge they do not have animations of actually firing anything, therefore they cannot be thought of as guns! Just gun shaped items! Its the equivalent of holding a stick and aiming that about!

Are they going to ban the production of games that let your avatar actually shoot? Like Snoopy Flying Ace, and Small Arms?

They can take my avatar guns from my cold dead hands!

...Oh, wait, I don't have any.

As they can still use them if they bought them, probably not. In fact, I bet some people will like having an item that is completely inaccessible to others.

Really not sure I care about this anyway, since avatar props are kinda useless to begin with.

On the flipside, I'm not sure why they would do this, since avatar props are kinda useless to begin with.

Right, ban Avatar guns on a platform rife with shooters and pre-pubescent shit-crickets shouting expletives on said shooters.

Fuck you, Microsoft.

Why? Is it some sort of Censorship or something? Seems really pointless considering 90% of xbox games are generic shooters.

The Xbox has enough variety as it is. Why don't you go browse the XBLA market to see for sure? or the number of Multiplatform games? On top of that, picking out four big franchises and calling them generic doesn't make out "90%" of the games on there.

The only reason I got angry at YOUR post is the way you acted. Being sarcastic or cynical is one thing, being completely wrong is another.

EDIT: I do actually have the lancer thing, I don't know why they are cancelling it but well, I got it!

What? This is a violation of my Second Amendment rights! I'm calling the NRA! You'll hear from us!

...

And yes, to be crystal clear, I'm joking.

OT: I'm waiting to hear from Microsoft on this one.

They're already insane for buying Avatar items which only show up in one or two screens and don't make any difference anywhere else. Avatar items should either be free or be unlocked in the games you play, you shouldn't have to pay for them as they're not that important.
