Would this apply to previous games where we'd have to pay for playing modern warfare 2 online or just for new ones like black ops or the inevitable modern warfare 3?

Is anyone actually hyped about this?
I'm sure Kotick, his wife (if he has one), and his croonies are. I find this ironic since I was just reading an article about how Kotick was trying to fix Activision's image problem. Hmm, I wonder where they could start? Oh yeah, fire this guy!!! Seriously, you want me to hand over more money every month so I can play MP after you made the campaign story line (and other problems in CODMW2) so confusing and bad?! Hey, now I'm starting to think they did that on purpose. They had this plan all along!!!

Yes, Mr. Kotick. I want to pay my hard earned cash to you for online multiplayer that was free. That sounds exciting and fun! I'm sure everyone that likes CoD also wants to pay money monthly for multiplayer! Thanks, Mr Kotick, you're my hero!

If CoD charges to play, I'll just stop playing it and find a game to play online that I can play for free. Activision is crossing the lines once again...from royal jerks to mega super fucked up in every category jerkwads...

Who wants to bet the next CoD game that comes out won't have as many sales if they let us know that it costs to play online then? Since a lot of people buy CoD for the online only

Cod was bearly worth the $40 AUD I paid for it (50% off at EB for MW1, havent got MW2 and wont till its cheaper too), theres no way in hell I'll ever subscribe for such a generic and plain game. Tbh I only got it for its split screen coop.

Hahahaha. This is funny to me :p I don't play CoD but my friend Dillon plays it aaaaaaaall day and never wants to hang out with me because he's shoved up his PS3's arse. This will do our friendship good.

I already bought the damn thing, and I will not continually pay for you to rip me off with shitty map packs and horrible hit detection.

Because idiots will still play, and Activision only needs their money. They won't add new features, because some people will still play regardless.

Yeah, Dillon was saying pretty much the same thing. Call of Duty had a good run.

Just when I was getting hopeful about black ops,
this just in: activation's reputation as a bunch of money grabbing wankers is growing.

I'm going to have to quit my cycle of Halo, Gears, CoD; and replace the last one with something else because that game in no way is good enough for me to pay more to play it. I didn't even buy the game! I told my roommate that if he wanted me to play it than he could buy it for my birthday. Well they just lost this un-loyal customer for good.

Hm, I don't see a problem with a subscription fee if it were for a fun, consistent online world like WoW. If Treyarch (or whoever) can make that work with Duty's intense FPS combat, I'd be on board. Just imagine the possibilities. :)

This opinion, however, doesn't apply to non-MMO games like MW2 or Black Ops.

I am a big CoD fan have all the MW's and even Waw, got all the map packs for MW and WaW, ya nazi zombies!, I also bought the first map pack for MW 2 but I didn't buy resurgence because I paid $60 for a full game with 10 or more maps, spec ops, and singleplayer and why the hell would I pay another $15 for 5 maps two of which I have on another game, also why would I pay a monthly subscription? screw that and screw you Kotick.

And so the evil corporation takes one step further into the deepest, darkest pits of hell.
Looks like it's time to rediscover Medal of Honor and become acquainted with Battlefield.

Why can't they just do what valve does and make all updates and so on free? Oh right, Kotick.
