This is bullshit, nobody wants it. The only way this could work (million to one shot) is if all the map packs released are free and they release 1 pack of about 5 maps every two months.

But they won't, cause they're Activision.

Screw you bobby kotick (uncapitalized on purpose)

Theres a reason people buy consoles and games like CoD. The experience can potentially last for a very long time with just an initial buy-in. A lot of frat boys aren't going to pay up if CoD gets a subscription because honestly, they aren't that into it.

Unless it is some sort of total revision into an mmofps, kotick has succeeded in thinking up the thing that will alienate at least 60 percent of hist customers.

Made me lol, it did.

I hope this happens, then i can just use private servers to enjoy it for FREE =)

Also if he thinks that FPS fans = MMORPG fans hes wrong
people that enjoy MMO RPGs are people that like taking things slow and would rather have a number determine the out come of a fight, while FPS fans dont have time to grind their way too victory and hate fighting people with people that are "better geared" then them selves

I somehow doubt many people would be willing to pay subscription for a shooter. But then again, the stupidity of the masses never ceases to amaze me.

And I wonder why I feel guilty playing Call of Duty. Why have good developers and good games got to suffer under the hands of an utter twat?

"I think we could do a lot more to really satisfy the interests of the customers. I think we could create so many things, and make the game even more fun to play. We haven't really had a chance to do that yet."
Haven't had a chance to do that yet? Yeah, you've only made 6-7 Call of Duty games, not counting expansions and different versions for older consoles.

I've bought every major Call of Duty title(1+expansion,2,3,4-MW1,WaW,MW2) and if they decide to go to some horrible subscription service, they've lost me as a customer. I'm the kind of customer they can't afford to lose.

I don't he realises that most gamers are out to spend the least amount of money possible.
And yet people went out and bought the $120 special edition of Modern Warfare 2 with some cheep NVG's you could by for $20 on ebay. And Kotick is the one who said he wanted to take the fun out of developing games. The guy is nuts and probably spends 90% of his life swimming in his money and the ears of crushed dreams.

The up side here is that every time Activision pulls a stupid move like this two things happen. 1. Everyone else sees how stupid it is. 2. The people they screw over leave and do soe thing better. Remember, we now have Respawn Entertainment because of Infinity ward, and we got Rock Band because Kotick decided the guitar controller was more important than the people who made the game.

CoD is dead.

Battlefield (whatever - except Vietnam!) until Planetside Next comes out!

Personally, I'm still trying to work out whether Kotick is actually a double-agent placed there by DICE/EA! He sure couldn't be doing MORE to sabotage that franchise! :D

"compelling"
And in an instant that buzzword shows us that all he wants is the money. Nobody with an intent to work in the interests of their customers uses buzzwords like those. But hey, he's a businessman, and if people are that desperate to play COD then they will pay, that's their problem not mine.

Hahaha, he thinks "audiences are clamoring for it."
Everywhere I go, people are saying "I wish I could pay an additional monthly subscription to play the game I like on top of my internet bill, and my live subscription."

Perhaps he is interpreting the uproar over the removal of dedicated server options as "we love you guys and we want you to host costly dedicated servers!"

I want every person on this forum to send me $100 (or the equivalent in their currency) and I think it would be a compelling experience for them! :D
I would sooner do that than pay to play CoD online (not counting paying for Gold).

Don't get me wrong - I love the CoD games but having to pay to play it is just not going to work. Sure, there's going to be the few people who will pay to play but if this does happen, CoD will go from the top series played online for the consoles to barely played at all.

This can't go well.
This will loose them a lot of players.
Regretabbly, I don't think so. Enough lemmings people bought the mappack for $15. If even a fraction of those will shell out money every month, it'll be profitable.

Here's the thing, I won't pay money every month, not even for a real MMO. I can live comfortably without Activision games, and I'm sure the same is true for other people. If you disagree with shitforbrains Kotick, don't buy any more games from that idiotic publisher.
The majority of people playing MF2 online are paying microsoft for the privilege, despite this being considered unnecessary on all other platforms. All Kotick has to do is convince people that paying a subscription is the norm, and people will forget that it can be done any other way.
I still think it will be insanely popular, just not as popular.
