MOAR ZOEY NOW! I think I'm the only dude who enjoys playing her-_- she has funnier Dialogue. You do learn a TINY bit about Zoey when, in Death toll lvl 4 crescendo event she says

`I used to always like this street`

I haven't heard ANYTHING from Rochelle yet

Anyone else intrested about the new confirmed DLC where the survivors encounter each other
Will this be 8vs8, 4coms on both teams, or just a small cut scene
I'm pretty sure your not the only one, 'cos I always play as her.

OT: I play/like her because of all the reasons this guy likes her

Because Rochelle is bland and uninteresting, she just blends into the furniture so to speak. She never really says anything memorable or meaningful.

Zoey is just better she quotes Lethal weapon, it doesn't get much better than that, and yes Rochelle is a *****.

I like all 8 survivors, to be honest and the idea of them crossing paths in future dlc made me buy Left 4 Dead 2 :p I usually play as Nick or Francis.

As for Rochelle, I don't see anything wrong with her, besides one time that her bot was stuck behind so I had to make do with 3 survivors, but it wasn't her fault, 'twas the one who controlled her. Silly AI...

There's a number of reasons.

Zoey is prettier for a start. That carries a LOT of weight.
Zoey knows memes, Rochelle does puns. 2 for Zoey.
Zoey actually cares for the others and expresses it, Rochelle grunts. 3 for Zoey.
Zoey flirts, Rochelle states about repopulation. 4 for Zoey.
Francis/Louis/Bill treat Zoey like one of them, Rochelle is put out as the love interest. 5 for Zoey.
Zoey is nervy, scared and occasionally gleeful, Rochelle sounds like she's on Oprah. 6 for Zoey.
Rochelle has a Depeche Mode t-shirt, Zoey has a tracky top. 1 for Rochelle.

In L4D2, Ellis is basically off Deliverance, Nick is almost a token, and Coach is channeling Samuel Jackson in the same way that Demoman does. The L4D'ers had a lot more personality and backstory, and guess why? Because L4D took 10 years to make while L4D2 took less than a year.

Now, if I remember rightly, that's why the protest group was formed.

It's not because Rochelle etc. are bad characters, it's just that they're not developed characters. Like Robert Langdon in The Da Vinci Code, the L4D2'ers are running through a landscape throwing personality quips around.
Zoey would be at home in Hellraiser, Louis in Louis of the Dead, Francis in any Zombie Biker show, and Bill...well, you probably don't remember the zombie invasion of 1958.

(Hell, the Church Guy has more personality than some of the L4D2 lot...even Virgil beats Rochelle to the punch)

I played l4d a lot and i have to say that i like Zoey more. I have to admit she IS prettier than Rochelle. Zoey her voice is calmer then the voice of Rochelle. Also Zoey is nice to people and Rochelle acts like a *****. If I would be stuck in a zombie apocalypse i'd rather stick with Zoey than with Rochelle.

Rochelle has no character at all, as far as I can tell.. She's there but that's all

I hate playing her because of that :p
But why is Zoey a better character as a result?

L4D2- Now with two scoops of black (Ughh, I feel horrible now, I'm not racist either!)
one black person is highe rpitched than me (that's HARD!)
the other is unfit... albeit the white guys wear overalls and have a HUGE forehead.

I think Valve may be racist=/
That wasn't racist, and that kind of made me chuckle as well.

Because Zoey actually has dialogue?

Rochelle has like 13 lines in the entire game with exception to voice commands.

Zoey had alot more.
No she doesn't.

Zoey, out of all the survivors, has the least amount of dialogue. This can easily be proven by looking at the number of files in her voice folder. It is substantially smaller than all of the other survivors even Rochelle's.

Rochelle does have some good lines (not enough of them though). It just seems that no one bothers to listen to her when they actually play the game. Try looking through her sound folder. I'm sure you'll find some of her more humorous lines of dialogue.

Oh so quoting a movie makes someone a good character now? In that case Rochelle is also a good character, because she quotes the movie Anchorman.

That's a matter of opinion though.
Zoey knows memes, Rochelle does puns. 2 for Zoey.
Spouting memes does not make a good character.

Not true. The only time Zoey actually shows real emotions towards the others is when they die. Rochelle, on the other hand, shows little emotion but for a good reason. She works in the news, which means she is used to seeing morbid stuff. Plus she understands that you can't let yourself break down emotionally in such a dire situation, so she trys to cover up her emotions. Also you have to remember that Zoey knew the other survivors for 2 weeks, while Rochelle just met them.

Zoey flirts, Rochelle states about repopulation. 4 for Zoey.
When exactly? This sounds like conjecture.

Francis/Louis/Bill treat Zoey like one of them, Rochelle is put out as the love interest. 5 for Zoey.
......what doe this even mean?
Zoey is nervy, scared and occasionally gleeful, Rochelle sounds like she's on Oprah. 6 for Zoey.
Rochelle's voice actor is fine. I really don't get why people have such a problem with her.

As for the rest of your post, I can answer it with one thing; the characters of Left 4 Dead were sterotypes. People injected them with character traits they did not actually show in the game because of this. They were not well developed characters. Even Valve admits to this, which is one of the things they aimed to fix in the sequel and Crash Course campaign.

I like Zoey better because in my made up back story for how they could have met she is the back bone, and just because she's generally a nice person, who fended zombie off bill and francis with only dual pistols?

Rochelle is just... annoying. Zoey was never that interesting of a character either, but I like her better than Rochelle. I really have no good explanation for it, I just never cared for Rochelle.

And here's an open letter to video game makers: Can we please have some black characters that aren't just stereotypes?

I actually prefer Rochelle. In fact, I prefer the whole L4D2 cast.
The original survivors had their charms, but all of the new guys seem a lot more believable.

Besides, when you're fighting for your life against thousands of zombies, is someone cracking a corny joke really what you need?
Having a personality, that's fine. Having that personality as "annoying" is another thing altogether..

Because Zoey had some character and spiffy one-liners, you've got to have spiffy one-liners!

I never realy thought Rochelle as abitch, she seemed quite "motherly" when i played. She does treat Ellis like a 12 year old child, and she talks like a mother handing out apple pie when she heals you.

Is it just me?
That's the impression I got, too. She does call Ellis "sweetie," after all, and is all "Oh, come on, let's get you all patched up!" when she heals.

Zoey actually seemed to have a personality. Rochelle seems to be a generic civilian. She never says anything vaguely interesting, amusing or about her background. Nothing. Just "now's not a good time Ellis".
