LaBeouf: It's My Fault Indiana Jones 4 Was No Good

I've always hated Lebouf but I must say seeing him admit his utter catastrophic failing in that movie has really made me respect--Oh man I can't say that with a straight face.

The movie is made and no amount of apologizing will make me forgive him for it. He attributes the blame where it should go, but if he's only NOW figuring it out then frankly he can keep begging for forgiveness.

But in all seriousness, for all I hate him, it was as much the fact his character existed as it was he was playing him. He's bad and all, but Harrison Ford couldn't save that film, he couldn't even make it watchable, so what chance does Shia have? Bad acting is a flaw in the film, but the writing is why it sucked so much. You can't make the monkey swinging thing "come to life" no matter who you are.

In fact horrible scripts tend to be a trend with Shia here and he was OK for most of Eagle Eye...well almost. Not at the end. Regardless, I think if he actually had a good script he might not anger me so much or become the face of everything that permanently put me off two franchises (one of which I don't plan on ever forgiving him for). I'm not saying he'd be great, but he'd move up in the annoying scale from Jar Jar Binks to a kind of generic, forgettable guy who doesn't anger me outright.

But that is a BIG If and I'd still not forgive him for the damage already done.

He wasn't very good in that film and things he says about games are stupid. I will not hold that against him if he is good in a film in the future or says something not stupid about games.

I blame LeBeouf for a lot of things, but Indiana Jones being not as good as the other entries in the series isn't one of them. For that, I place the blame strictly on the shoulders of that double-chinned demon George Lucas.

He was the best part, imo...The script is what killed it. It wasn't bad by any means, though. Just not...great.

It was a fuckin' abortion.
And Shia has just slagged off two of the biggest films he's been in and gave him a name. I can see a career going into freefall.

I find it hard to believe people hated Crystal Skull so much for being silly and over the top, have any of these people actually seen Temple Of Doom? It's an awful film!

It's just nostalgia rage, yeah it wasn't as good as Raiders or Last Crusade, but it was a was a fucks sight better than Temple Of Doom, I mean come on, "chilled monkey brains"?
Thank you! We can hardly pile shame onto Crystal Skull when there's an even worse movie among the original three. It's like after Indy and crew drop out of the plane on that raft, the entire movie drops with it.

Yes it is. I hate you.

... Okay, seriously, it wasn't really his fault. It was the writers fault for having his character in the first place, and then their fault again for hiring him.

Also, I really don't have anything against him as a person, it's just that every role he has even been in (that I've seen, anyway) has cast him as an annoying and completely useless character.

Ive heard tons of people complain about LaBeouf, maybe all the critisism is just getting him down. I'm still suprised that he would try to take blame for something like a poorly rated movie. That seem pretty rare in an age where many people, especially those who are subjected to media attention, attempt to make excuses for failure and whatnot. And, as many people have already said, it's not as though he single-handedly made the movie bad. I think high expectations were responsible for that.

This movie should never have been made, and I have three reasons supporting this statement:

1) CGI monkeys
2) CGI prairie dog
3) CGI aliens

None of these have anything to do with the ability of the acting cast. I don't understand why Hollywood seems to think that abusing CGI is acceptable, especially in a live-action movie where it can easily be spotted and only serves to detract from the viewer's experience, unless of course the viewer is a drooling moron who enjoys Vin Diesel films.

The creativity and tangibility of the work of people like Stan Winston is now starting to disappear, and writers are starting to get lazier and more brazen with what they should and should not put into a script, thus resulting in shit movies that still make millions at the box office... I'm not sure who stopped caring about the quality of movies first, the audience or the writers, but either way, it really needs to turn itself around. The first three Indiana Jones films were violent, funny, and most importantly, fun to watch. The fourth film made me embarrassed to be in the theater.

LaBeouf, it wasn't you, it was the aliens.

Granted at least you owned up to your shortcomings. I'll give you that.

They tried something different and unfortunately it failed. Learn from it and move on I say.

It wasn't his fault as much as it was the writing, and the whole idea of the movie. It wasn't a horrible movie, but it couldn't hold a candle to the other movies.

I'll give Shia LaBeouf this... he is capable of admitting his mistakes. I'm not sure if this isn't just a publicity stunt of some kind but at least he is admitting fault, that's something I respect.
Besides for the record, I thought he was alright in Holes so he does have a few redeemable qualities.
Though was he decent preformance in holes enough to justify him basically being the top billed young adult actor of today with is other major roles being Transformers and Indiana Jones: Kingdom of Jumping Sharks?

Good boy, now admit that you should never have taken part in the Transformers movies and I'll actually give you the respect you deserve.

I think Shia LaBouf sucks, but he wasn't to blame for the horribleness of Indiana Jones IV.

I can't really despise LaBouef with the passion of others because he's friends with a a webcomic artist on this site I know and they all did a skit together and it seemed fun for them. Makes it all wholesome, and I'm weak to wholesomeness.

If he means it, then that's respectable. Not really his fault, it was the role they put him in and the fact there was such a role. But, since he was Stanely, a.k.a. "Caveman" in Holes, I really can't bag him.

Now Megan Fox on the other hand. There's someone that seriously needs to apologize for terrible acting. Take care of the big problems before working on the lesser ones.

The movie wasn't that bad a solid 7. Though the first 3 were 8.5-9.5's. The reason Indiana Jones wasn't as good this time was because it was too over the top.

LaBeouf: It's My Fault Indiana Jones 4 Was No Good

Didn't like Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? Neither did Shia LaBeouf, and he says that it's his fault.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull may have made loads of money at the box office, but there's no getting round the fact that it had something of a mixed reception amongst movie-goers. Speaking to the LA Times [http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/movies/2010/05/shia-labeouf-wall-street-2-indiana-jones-steven-spielberg.html], actor Shia LaBeouf, who played Indy's son Mutt, said that he deserves a significant part of the blame for the movie not being as good as its predecessors.

"I feel like I dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved and cherished," LaBeouf said. "You get to monkey-swinging and things like that and you can blame it on the writer and you can blame it on Steven [Spielberg]. But the actor's job is to make it come alive and make it work, and I couldn't do it. So that's my fault. Simple."

"We [Harrison Ford and LaBeouf] had major discussions. He wasn't happy with it either. Look, the movie could have been updated. There was a reason it wasn't universally accepted," he added.

Whiie LaBeouf as the new Indiana Jones was a terrible idea, the movie had already lost it's mind before he even showed up.

In the other movies, the actual mystical stuff was used sparingly, usually near the end. In the new one, we had a psychic trying to read Indiana's mind within the first 5 minutes of the film. The fact that she failed only mad it unintentionally funny, since it looked like she was just crazy. Things just got sillier and sillier from there, without any of the more grounding moments of the original movies.

Lucas and Spielberg got too caught up in the special effects and did a downright amateurish job on everything else. Hell, half the time it almost seemed to have been filmed more like a sitcom than an action movie.

You know what, this scores him major points with me.

That was a very brave thing to say/admit to, given the almost universal hatred for Indy 4.

(I also HATE this movie)

Now, I await the admition from George and Steven... For they played a much MUCH larger part in that shit storm.
