OK I stopped at 7 figures. Granted the popularity of the subject, this is entirely assuming that females, the majority of (not married/living with a male) females don't possess anything outside a DS, meaning it would likely have to be a DS game to even think of those numbers, as making a console game would mean that they would have to buy the console to play the game, and if that works out, woot for economic stimulation, though it seems like a long shot. At any rate, past has proven games meant to target mature women usually fall through, getting poor sales, and being the lazy bastard I am, go find your own figures.

Personally, I don't care what you like as long as I don't have to deal with it. I wouldn't care if there was a Twilight game. In my mind, its all just shovelware. However, from a business perspective, I'm not so sure this would work that well. I suspect that it would be a successful game, but hardly a best seller, and would alienate the fan base of whoever made the game. We are dealing with a demographic outside of the video game regulars, and that is risky. The really successful games are those that have appeal to gamers, and manage to also contain appeal for a wider audience as well. Meanwhile, lots of people hate Twilight, it's still a niche, if perhaps a big one, and it's possible that only the really gigantic Twilight fans will buy it. Twilight may be big, but I'm not sure the numbers would be very encouraging.

Of course the people running twilight don't realize they could make millions with a Twilight game. They're too thick to even pour their own breakfast cereal.

Okay kids, you're about to watch me become a millionaire:

The Twilight Saga: New Moon: The Movie: The Board Game: [http://www.walmart.com/ip/The-Twilight-Saga-New-Moon-Board-Game/12167774?sourceid=1500000000000003260420&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=12167774] The Video Game!

Crank out a conversion of the board game in like one week and get rich! Just like the board game, except you can play with people in far off lands like OTHER places with Walmarts!

(I'm sorry, but I saw that a week ago and I've been wanting to tell someone about it ever since. In other news, Walmart.com's selling Twilight Imperium? WTF?)

I remember when Sony (PS2 era) were all about making movies into games before the bleeding movies even came out. Funny haven't seen that since they bumped up to the next gen consoles.

I don't see the problem with it, you could even say in a public press event:
"This is nothing more than a blatant cash in and will be of no value to mainstream gamers. But we all know that the massive legions of Twilight fans will pay out the ass for the chance to spend more time with their favorite one dimensional angsty pin ups. So why miss out on a chance to fill our pockets with the money of people who fully deserve to be exploited?"
And they would still make more money than the Florida Panthers and Phoenix Coyotes combined.

Now comes the question. If you can make money from an idea, does that mean it is the right thing to do so?

On a slightly related matter next month there is a "Twilight day" at the cinema where I work. All employees are encouraged (read: forced) to get into the spirit of the event by dressing up, or participating in the fun and games. Therefore I shall go into work wearing...

How awesome would that be? Make it an interactive movie/game like Heavy Rain. Replace the film noir feeling with angsty teenagers and you're going to get an instant hit.

Those devious bastards... Like a Twilight version of WoW, but instead of killing things you sparkle or something. Before word gets out at the utter crap it would be, they'd make MILLIONS!

I've never even liked so much as the idea of Twilight. While it may sell well if there's a video game, whoever designs it will likely lose credibility.

e_e Who here can name me a 20-30 yr old female that has A) a passion for gaming B) an interest in Twilight, and C) a terrible sense of what is or is not a good game?

Exactly.

There's no way to make money here (except MAYBE on facebook or DS) because most gamers don't give two tosses about Twilight. Even the girls that happen to fulfill A and B probably don't have C, being that A would logically render C superfluous.

DO NOT MAKE. WILL LOSE $$$$

PS. lol @ the fangirls ambushing the other console warz.

To put things into perspective, there have been numerous attempts to do the whole "Modern Romantic Vampire" thing with video games. The two "Vampire The Masquerade" games were pretty decent overall but not rave-worthy. On top of this we have seen numerous other attempts like "Gothos" and the like.

Truthfully a lot of properties can be exploited into fairly deritive platformers and such, we've seen it with Disney movies and the like. In this case though I don't see any easy/obvious route to exploitation because there really isn't much that is gamable about
the story. There isn't much of a "world" involved, it's almost entirely character-centric. There is action but overall it's fairly minimal.

The bottom line is that other than say an old school "Adventure Game" re-treading the plot of the novels, I don't see what can be done with this.

Anything that I would think might work would involve having to expand the universe and ultimatly not involve the characters from the stories, and in the end it wouldn't be Twilight anymore.

We'll either see it or we won't, they did try and make a "Dsperate Housewives" game so I suppose anything is possible.

I would like to see a Twilight game but it would have you playing as both Bram Stoker and Dracula. Dracula would go about killing every character in the story and Bram Stoker would go and kill Stephanie Meyer.

You know, I always wondered why they didn't make a video game out of this series. Sure, it wouldn't make for a very good game, but having seen E.T. for the Atari and a Shrek racing game, I don't think that actually matters.

A Twilight game... I can just picture it:

Press A to cry,
press B to remove clothing,
press and hold X to Sparkle,
and press Y to close up on face.
Ohh, ohh, and press L to describe in what way somebody said something, (just so you won't have to learn how to write lines that actually show emotion).

Possibly the most horriffic thing about this is that the escapist has produced not one... but two workable ideas for this.

WHAT HAS SCIENCE DONE??????

I would call in sick that day or perhaps quit. At Ohayocon back in January I bought a Hellsing T-Shirt that says Team Alucard. If you really want to make Twilight fans angry wear that.

"Wardens, we must stop the Taint! For if we let it spread to Nintendin, there will be no one left to stop the Sparkle Horde, and all of Gamden will fall! To arms!"

Seriously though. Any developer that attempts to make an actual Twilight game needs to be purged.
