Wow somebody said 20/800 for both eyes? I am 20/50 in one eye and 20/60 in the other and only use glasses if I really have to. As far as I've heard laser eye surgery rarely goes wrong. I still wouldn't do it. Much better to wear glasses than risk having lasers mess up my vision.

Being born 3 months premature does that(along with a lot of other non eye related problems :3 (it's called retinopthy of prematurity - they put you in an incubator and give you oxygen, and although necessary, it can/(does? I'm not sure on that specifically) damage the eyes. 15% I think is the number of cases that are blind from it. One thing i learned in a TV science magazine today was that if you get your eyes lasered before the age of 40 there's a very high chance that you'll still need glasses after you turn 40.
Hmmm, Well i am already pretty certain i can never get it. As my mother can't due to her pupils being too large, and mine are bigger than hers, so....
A large part is what you do for a living. I mean if you work nights i'd say NEVER get it done, as apparently a relatively common side effect is double and triple vision in the dark/at night. Thus if you work night shifts or need to drive early in the morning/late a night then it'd put you out of work if this happened.
I can't honestly give you a real recommendation as most of the info i'm going by is several years old back when my father was looking at it (but decided not to risk it from the above mentioned night time vision issues). I understand it's become a lot safer since they improved the procedure and they don't actually need to cut your eye anymore, just "zap" it.
At the end of the day it's really a risk you have to decide for yourself, you're the one supplying the information on this, meaning that you have the information and are just trying to make up your mind. My only advice is to look up as many customer reviews on the place as you can as that was the big thing that helped my dad, he was seriously considering it until he read about half the reviews complained about various sight issues, and while the ones with the issues shout loudest, it didn't fill him with confidence.

My laser eye surgery went great. It's a little disgusting when you think about what they do, so don't think about it too much.
Being blind as a mole my self (-8 and -5,75), I can see (haha...) your delimma. Personally, I don't want the sugery, since putting in contacts in the morning has just been a rutine for the last 6 years.
Basically it depends on wether or not you're annoid enough by your contacts, to take the risk tied to the sugery (and there's ALWAYS a risk)

It's not as scary as it sounds, I had mine done start of January this year and I can say it was definately worth it. Don't worry your head over it, the people who do it have been doing it for years, no need to worry about anything going wrong. Even in the worst case scenraio I've heard someone got an eye infection, but that cleared up over time.
