Meaning, you weren't expecting to enjoy spending as much time as you've ended up doing so in one particular game?
I have just gone through the main stories of Silent Hill: Downpour and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, by no means completely but did some side quests and updgrade hunting. Was glad to be done with them though for various design flaw reasons.
Now, I've gone back to Read Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare after a long haitus to finish off the storyline, and have found that I missed simply being in the plague-infested old west setting. I found War the apocalypse horse and it's simply pretty awesome cruising around saving towns, headshotting zombies, gathering some supplies and finding treasures before continuing on. They stripped down a lot of the more tedious aspects of the main game; not to say they were bad, but you feel more like a "world's gone to shit, but I'll go down swinging" badass vigilanti in this expansion.
It may actually end up being a while before I feel like returning to Dark Souls and Hitman now.
