Or three times... let's hear it for Yamato, the dog from Shadow Dancer!
Whoops did i? Still getting use to the whole forum thing, my apologies.DirkGently said:You misquoted someone, quoting them for my text.DoW Lowen said:Really? Okay then... guess you have to read the books to see what an annoying piece of f#$k she was.Pyre1million said:Personally, I've always liked Cortana.
Anyway, I really thought about it, and I don't think there really is an excellent support character. I mean for a support character to even be considered good, is them not to jump in front of your bullets and act like it's all your fault *cough Medal of Honor*
I would really say the Fire Emblem characters, but they aren't technically support since you are controlling them. I loved most of their personalities, it was amazing at how such a simplistic game had so much character depth.
I did like the AI ally in Red Alert 3 campaign though, Zhana was smoking.
Elika in PoP was extremely useful I have to admit, but her personality kind of ruined her company. I didn't feel guilty for overworking the *****. She must
GoW has pretty decent support characters, they had decent personalities like BF: Bad company, but unlike bad company they weren't completely f***ing useless on the battlefield. Plus Cole is a classic. GoW didn't make you feel like you were fighting the war alone.
But if I had to choose, and i think many would agree with me here, the animal characters are normally the best support and 'friend' a gamer can have. They are loyal, they don't annoy you with witless quips and they don't take the fun away. They are necessary to the experience and never get in the way of it. Plus any mishaps are forgivable because they ARE an animal afetr all. Except for Chip from Sonic. God I hate him....
But really my choices if i had to choose, it'd be Agro from Shadow of Colossus. I never felt more attached to a virtual animal.
I don't see what you don't like Cortana. I have read the books, and still don't find her to be annoying (Outside of those "LET ME BREAK YOUR FLOW" moments in H3, though those had some nice content to them.

There was something about Cortana that I found self righteous. I guess she just reminded me way too much of Kahlan from Sword of Truth, excellent book you should read it if you haven't already. And I found her a tad bit too clingy for an artificial intelligence, but that aside those moments in Halo 3 are enough to cause much disdain. Running through that flood infested hell hole, if you died you had to put up with them again. And you could do some really glitchy things during those moments. I emptied an assault rifle without even holding down the fire trigger, and it used up my reserve ammo without even reloading.
I agree with that Agro was awesome and id also say Jolee Bindo from KOTORFightgarr said:I like Agro from Shadow of the Collosus.
Or, if that doesn't count, the Princess from Ico because half of gameplay is getting her around the castle with her dying.
