I'm looking forward to it, but I'm in Britain which means I don't get it until friday. I've ordered it online though, so I should be getting it right when I get back from school and jump right in to my zombie slaying.
Huh? I was playing it at lunchtime today...
was it the demo? maybe you downloaded off of steam or something, I've ordered a hard copy instead.

It's wasn't the demo, I bought through steam. I see where the difference is then - you've ordered a hard copy which is released on Fri?

Yeah, I just can't deal with the long download times.

Yes, I'm probably going to get it for christams. The demo is awesome, but damn is it gory. It's not scary or anything, but plain disguisting..

I find it hilarious how L4D acclaimed was, but when the fans head of L4D2 the reaction sounded basically like "Omg, you can't do that, L4D is still unfinished!"
I didn't subscribe to the campaign, but I think you may have misunderstood it. I believe the boycotters were annoyed by the fact that Valve announced a sequel before releasing any DLC. So Valve responded, the DLC came, and the sequel turned out to be quite a different beast, thus the boycott went away.

Anyway, I'm sure I'm not the only one who was playing the original L4D avidly until last night - just as I'm one of many who now looks forward to playing the sequel for the next twelve months.

£26 through Steam - that's about 7 pence a day...

I pre-loaded mine last evening and was getting like 800mb/s. I bet a lot of people just started the pre-load before work today hence your painfully slow speed.

I can't wait to play on realism with my brother though. The demo was so much fun - I can't wait for the real thing.

Everyone who is saying that this should just be DLC must have their head up their ass. This is a sequel if I ever saw one and better than most.

It has newer enemies, more campaigns then the first, more modes (survival, vs) and more gameplay elements like melee weapons. This is not worthy of DLC so shut up and either buy it or quit QQing.

I had no interest in this game because I figured it would be more of the same until I played the demo and saw what was to be offered in the full version. It looks like a frickin sweet game and I will be picking it up when I get some more money... Damn you Borderlands and DA:O!!!

A lot less "SHOULD HAVE BEEN DLC NOW I'LL HATE VALVE FOREVER ARR" here on the escapist than most of the internet it seems. Not sure what that means, if anything.

I haven't a whole lot to add for now, since my friends are planning to acquire L4D2 from the physical plane, and that means precisely a two day delay around here, or so I hear. Though even without immediate access to good playing company I've already tried out and quite enjoyed all the new campaigns.

Especially liked Hard Rain, great level design and very pretty visuals indeed. Also the fact that the chainsaw makes witches total cannon fodder (edit: actually more like chainsaw fodder, or wouldn't that be, like, fuel? Uh, maybe just fodder? A mangled heap at any rate, but I digress.) at least on normal difficulty. Warms the cockles of my totally-not-blackened and twisted heart to massacre them after all the times they've spawned in the exact door I must pass, and then getting all angry when I innocently try to kill them in good faith.

I do feel kind of sorry for them whenever chainsawing them though, I mean they're just being angsty and hysterically aggressive, like any teenager. They can't help it, just like those really small, below housecat size dogs can't help lunging at innocent bypassers and foaming at the mouth, I mean this one time me and my friend were...
-"We don't have time for this right now."
-Okay.

Yes, I am defiantly buying it. It is a vast improvement over the original.
Why wouldn't people buy it?
Because I'm sick of killing zombies?

That's my reason.
I'm definitely not buying it. Reason?

My HUGELY obsessed friends who have no lives are both buying it, and they are both buying it for the PC and Xbox. So that's 4 copies. I have no reason to buy the game- I don't really play it by myself on the Xbox, my PC is too shitty to play it, and their the only two people I play the first game with anyways.

Waste of money, if you ask me.

Launch day for L4D2 in American I think a little reference to this topic is needed

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.146995?page=2

Somehow saying I told you so just doesn't cut it. I grew bored trying to log in to Steam after the third attempt. Refuses point blank to display my games, just sits there saying looking for game updates. Although I notice the store seems to be working perfectly... can;t have anything get in the way of people spending the money just as long as they don;t actually expect to play the games they purchase.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Steam is a bloody joke.

Lots and lots of people. I bought and dl'd it three weeks ago. The demo put a lot fears about it just being more L4D and nothing else to bed. There's quite a big jump in a lot of areas.

I'd guess Steam's content servers will be creaking under the strain of all the people verifying or dl-ing the game this close to release, so it might not be your connection. It'll clear up in a few days.

Bring forth the undead!
It's my connection. but that's OK. Once a month the connection gets slower and slower until it disappears for 3 days and returns at full speed. I got it downloaded so I can at least practice some off-line zombie killing until my connection gets back up! Yay!

And I have internet problems on release day... Seems like the download speed wont go past 60kb/s today so I'll have to wait some time for it.
Is anyone actually buying that game? Honestly the reason I'm buying it is because I don't have the first game so if it's just the same I don't care much because it's still a brand new game to me. Can't wait to play though!
I wish I just had internet problems. I'll trade you. I preordered this over a month ago along with Painkiller Resurrection. Painkiller never worked, and for the past two weeks, my computer hasn't been able to run any type of game. They all locked up within 30 seconds or blue screen. So, after buying STALKER Clear Sky, L4D2, Mass Effect, Lost Planet, and not being able to play any of them, I'm a little annoyed. Not to mention the $100 I dropped trying to fix my computer that ended up doing nothing.
Aww, that sucks pretty bad. I hope you get it fixed soon. Have you tried to clear it completely? Bring a priest and some holy water then reinstall Windows then try to do some searches to find out where the problem lies. I feel sorry for your loss :(. Good luck getting it fixed and I hope you'll be able to enjoy your games!
