Douglas smiled; someone had at last broken the silence on the bus. At home, everyone would speak to one another, while here people sat in silence, all of them alone. The man looked a mess, and had evidently had too little sleep and too much to drink last night, but at least he could whistle...

Douglas sighed. he felt confined here; the weather to cold and the society too introverted. With any luck he could soon be gone from this meeting of liars and old soldiers

10 more minutes had passed in the bus, and Sutton?s throat was beginning to turn dry from the constant whistling of Bohemian Rhapsody. It seemed that every red light in Davos was doing its utmost to slow the bus down, but after the dull journey, it arrived at the foot of the grand conference building. Matthew sighed, and stretched his arms as he stood up. He gave a quick glance at the television, before briskly walking towards the door of the bus.

He hopped out onto the pavement, and nodded at the grand building; a product of the peak of brutalist architecture, it was a huge assembly of angles and cubes. Sutton sighed, spotting the lack of anybody outside.

Perfect, I'm late... Mitchell?s going to have my arse now.

Sutton glanced over at all the over passengers disembarking the bus, the American MILREP got out first, and was followed by the Cyclops, who in turn was followed by the Barbie doll, then the African, and then the European. Sutton heard the Japanese jabbering as they got out.

The bus driver made a small grunt, and the bus roared as the doors slammed, and it began to drive away. Sutton made another deep sigh as he began to walk up the pavement, towards the conference centre. He heard some other footsteps, and the persistent murmuring of the Japanese close behind; all the while, his mind was at full speed.

I'm gonna get in trouble... Godamn it, I shouldn't have drank that vodka... I shouldn't have ate that pizza... I shouldn't have brooded over Mitchell. I shouldn't have thought about Cath...-

Sutton never got around to finishing his train of thought.

There was a wave of heat, and a blinding light. And then he felt himself fall onto the pavement. And then he heard the roar.

The roar that would haunt him forever.

Matthew opened his eyes.

He was staring at what must have been the sky; but it was unlike the sky he?d seen mere seconds ago- it was turning black. A sheet of darkness was smothering out the blue that had been present.

Smoke.

The first thing he noticed was the immense wave of heat that was on top of him- every pore on his skin was churning out sweat, he felt his shirt become damp, along with his face, pants, every piece of clothing was rapidly turning damp, and sticking to his skin.

Heat. Fire.

Then he realised that he couldn?t hear anything. He heard buzzes, and a few squeaks- but he didn?t even know if he could hear those, or if they were merely figments of his imagination.

Deafened.

Sutton lay there for several seconds, and intended to lie there for several more. He felt a pain on his backside, and the back of his skull. He groaned as he rubbed his head, still not moving his body, still staring at the sky.

...I fell.

He groaned, and he felt his hearing come back. The sounds that greeted him were those of pandemonium. He heard the Japanese screaming, and wildly panicking, he heard the sound of crackling, and roaring; he heard the sound of an inferno.

Then he heard something else- an American, gruff, old, and worn in tone, with a hint of impatience, and a heavy dosage of panic.

?C?mon... Get up... You lazy sack of shit...?

Sutton felt strong hands grab his arms and pull him up. He didn?t make a sound as he stood. He merely gawped at the old NATO officer, and clutched his sides as he stared at the ground, panting. He felt the American move away, probably to help the people behind him.

Then he looked up.

The sky above and around him, was now close to being completely black- it served to highlight the horror Sutton?s eyes met.

The conference hall was ablaze- every single area of it was on fire, the doors had been blown off, every window had been shattered, the walls were rapidly collapsing. The blaze was phenomenal; the flames extending high into the sky- Mountains of fire, extending from what was once the World Economic Forum. There was no chance that anyone could escape that.

There was no chance anyone could have survived.

Matthew clutched his forehead in his hand, and turned around. He never made a sound- despite the fact that his heart was burning, his eyes were stinging, and he was violently shaking.

And he hadn?t even grasped the implications.

Well, time for things to kick off! Feel free to use Prant, and you can take control the Japanese in your posts, if you want.

Just don't kill them. xD

When David became aware of his surroundings after the bang, he found himself to be lying on the sidewalk outside of what remained of the conventions center. He slowly pulled himself into a sitting position and coughed out a plume of dust.

"Christ," he exclaimed. "Feels like someone took a bat to my head."

He rubbed his temples and saw that something on his head was gashed and bleeding fairly profusely.

This can't end well he thought morbidly

He took another look around and saw that a few others had managed to survive the blast, and that two of them, the American and the fellow who was late on joining the bus were already standing. David stumbled over to the two with his hand still head against his head and said, "what the hell is going on here?"

Sutton stared at the flaming husk of the World Economic Forum, and rubbed his forehead, he didn't even look at the man, he just retained his blank expression with shock, while mumbling incoherently to himself.

"It's... Gone..."

The old American was busy grunting a few metres away from the two, trying to wake up an unconscious one of the Japanese. He quickly glanced at David, and shook his head. His brow was furrowed, and his lips tightly closed.

"...You stupid or something?!"

Sutton continued his stare into the inferno, oblivious to all around him.

Gonna have to call it a night. I hate GMT

"Everyone get back!"

Alexander had stumbled to his feet, his one good eye squinting in the smoke as the World Economic Forum burned before him. A few of the Japanese were in a daze, some of them pulling out camera's and taking pictures of the incident, with no regard for the possiblities of secondary explosions or the various other people who lay wounded around them

Gritting his teeth, Alexander stood straight despite a throbing pain in the back of his right leg and walked towards the shaken group of survivors

"We need to vacate the area!"

He shouted loudly in English, making his voice as loud and as clear as possbile for those who were up and walking around

"Someone get on the phone and call 911, inform them of the situation! We don't know what kind of explosion we are dealing with and we need to get across the street in case anything else happens!"

Sutton rubbed his forehead, slowly backing away from the blaze. His mind was rushing and his jaw slack.

Mitchell... Hell... Cameron will be in there... Shit.

Sutton fell backwards again, as a phenomenal wave of heat swept over him, forcing him to recoil and drop out of his daze. He heard the Kraut cyclops barking orders, and obliged. He reached for his phone when he heard the American's gruff voice again, this time barking orders into a walkie-talkie.

"This is Prant... NATO Military Representative 001... I'm with some civilians here, we need extraction. Over."

A slight bit of static and murmuring could be heard before he spoke, this time clearly angry, and loud.

"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN 'WHY'?! THE WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM JUST HAS BLOWN UP! GET YA' ASS OVER HERE! OVER."

Sutton pocketed his phone. The man named Prant had done the job for him.

Sutton tried to move several feet back; although the party were around twenty metres from the building, he didn't want to take any chances. He gave a shaky nod to the German as he moved back.

Daisy's body violently shook as she came to, the now black, smoky sky above her rocked back and forth. She suddenly became aware screams and sirens around her, the memories of what had happened were patchy, she remembered sitting on the bus with her bodyguards, the man on the bus, leaving the bus then... nothing. Nothing more than a flash of light, then she was here, where was she anyways?

"Mah... mah word what's happened? What's going on here?" groggily managing to utter out the question, Daisy was set down on the hard ground, surrounded to the best of her two bodyguard's ability she wanted answers, "What's happened?"

"Ma'am, there was a massive explosion. The entire building is engulfed in flame, we've managed to get you away from the immediate site however you are potentially still in danger. Should we move you away from here?"

Propping herself up, Daisy looked at her bodyguards, they were certainly large men, wearing black suits and dark sunglasses, almost indistinguishable between the two of them. Their strong jaws and thick necks made them quite formidable, Daisy thought they were a bit excessive but her advisors always felt she would be safer with them by her side.

Suddenly her advisors crossed her mind, they were all inside the building awaiting her late arrival. The limo service had failed and they were forced to take the bus in order to make the summit. Judging by what she could see there was little chance she would be getting advice in the future.

"Do... do you think anyone made it?" she asked as she blankly stared at the building, the massive balls of flame and intimidating plumes of smoke left a grim impression on her usually sunny disposition, "Anyone at all?"

David looked around at the crumpled bodies strewn in the bus wreckage for any sign of movement when he noticed the beautiful woman and her bodyguards begin to stir. David quickly stumbled over to to them as her heard the lady ask "Do you think anyone made it? Anyone at all?"

"A couple of us have Miss, though that's all I know for sure," he said as he offered his clean hand to help the lady up. "It would probably be in our best interest to move back a ways though, I can't imagine it's safe with all this debris falling. Ah, before I forget, I'm David Fullci, and you are?"

"Hey, You four! Get out of here NOW!"

Alexander clenched his teeth as he motioned for the other group of bumbling idiots, three men and a women, to get away from the scene

Idiots! More concerned with having a pleasant conversation than getting away from the damn explosion!

Not waiting to see if they would, Alex began moving to the bodies scattered around the fallen debris and checking for any signs of contamination. Any signs of infection amongst the dead or dying would allow Alex to understand whether or not they were dealing with more than just a simple explosion.

The cries of the wounded echoed all around him, but Alexander knew enough about injuries to note that moving some of these people would do more damage than keeping them comfortable and in place. Most of the injured were Japanese, and for the most part he saw your basic injuries that you would expect from a normal explosion.

He sighed in relief, before taking off his suit jacket and tearing it to pieces, and looking for the worst of the injuries. One Japanese man had a large piece of metal slicing through his lower thigh and by the way he was shaking, the man was in shock and probably not feeling much. Kneeling down next to him, Alexander wrapped the remains of his suit around the wound, doing his best to ensure what blood the poor guy had left, stayed in his body

Yey Shapsters is here! Things may be getting on track!

Just as a note, there are no bus wreckages in the area, none were parked around there and the one that escorted the group the the conference centre left. The explosion originated from inside the conference centre.

The majority of the group was on the small field across the road from the conference centre, save for the European, and the barbie doll with her two goons. The American named Prant was pacing back and forth, remarkably steadfast, considering the situation.

I'm doing well enough, myself.

Sutton shook his head rapidly, noting his hands- he was pretty shaken. He saw the cyclops crouching over an impaled Japanese man. He tentatively knelt next to the German, and examined the 'patient'. He sighed as he examined the man- Sutton's shock of the explosion was temporarily warded away as he looked at the wound, he glanced at the German.

"You know if he's punctured a femoral artery?

Edited my post so that its fallen debris, and not a bus wreckage, that caused most of the injuries/death

"No idea"

Alexander replied calmly as he wrapped the remains of his suit jacket tightly around the wound, trying not to cause pressure on it but merely keep the blood inside the mans body.

"Blood loss seems a bit more than it should be for this type of wound, but it's not as if we can roll him over to check. I'm no medic, but for now it seems that keeping blood inside this man is what counts"

He turned to the man who was speaking to him, the politician who had arrived last on the bus, and asked

"This appears to be the worse injury from what I can see, but do you mind looking to see if anyone else needs our attention? There really isn't much both of us can do hovering over this man...unless you happen to be a doctor or have medical training?"

Unlikely but I have to ask...

A tiny flicker of a smile came over Sutton's lips. He continued examining the patient attentively as he gave a slow, solemn nod at the question. He placed his hand on top of the suit jacket, trying to apply pressure.

"Used to be an Aid Worker, I know enough for some emergency treatment... And by the looks of things, this jacket doesn't seem to be working..."

Sutton gave a brief nod at the suit jacket as he lifted his hand, which was covered in blood. He gave a deep sigh as he wiped his hand on the grass.

Damn it... Don't have time to check... This better work.

"We need a tourniquet."

Sutton almost instantly took off his floppy tie, and folded it several times. He quickly leant over the patient, hesitated for several seconds, and turned to Alexander.

"Go find me a stick."

Without a second thought, Alexander was up and running, heading towards many of the decorative trees that had lined what was once the conference center

Thank god there's no snow and that they decided against spruce trees...

Gripping one of the more sturdy branches, Alexander pulled down hard and with a sharp cracking sound, he had the stick that the man required.

As he ran back, Alexander surveyed the others. The man he and the politician/aid worker were treating did seem the worst off, with many of the other injuries seeming to be broken bones or mere flesh wounds. And this was a good thing.

Sliding back beside the politician/aid worker, Alexander handed over the branch turned stick

"None on the ground, so I had to make one"

Sutton nodded, and snatched the branch without making any acknowledgement of it's delivery. He quickly pulled off the jacket, and ripped open the injured man's trousers at the location of the shard. He rapidly examined the wound, and sighed when he realised that the shard was obstructing the application site.

Sutton grabbed a smooth side of the metal, and closed his eyes as he gave a large pull. A groan emitted from the man, who must have felt it, despite being in shock.

Sutton opened his eyes, and groaned as he saw the bloody piece of metal, with some muscle matter clinging to it. He rapidly tossed it aside, and raised his folded tie. He slid it up the man's leg, settling it just below his buttocks. He grunted as he tightly tied it in a knot several times, before sliding the stick in the knot's fold.

The man's leg was still profusely bleeding, blood squirting out at the traumatized site of the wound. Matthew made a groan, working as fast as he could. He grabbed the stick, and twisted is several times, each time grunting more than the last. The area below the tourniquet began to turn red, and the skin below the knot was rapidly being crushed by the aid.

Then the bleeding stopped.

Sutton slumped backwards, and made a deep groan.

"That's all I can do... Let's just hope the flesh doesn't go necrotic."

A large hand pushed away the outstretched hand of David, one of the bodyguards lightly shook his head as if to say 'think again buddy'. Daisy slightly cowered as she heard the large man roar at them, observing the intimidating figure she turned back to the stocky man who spoke to her in an Italian accent,

"Daisy Mae Summer's suh, and perhaps we should heed his advice and move out of the way, wouldn't want more people getting hurt." Daisy was helped up by her bodyguard and she shook David's hand, "Now why don't you boy's go see if you can lend a hand, go on. I'm sure David here can keep me safe enough, I'm fine."

"Ma'am you have a slight cut on your forehead, we have strict orders to not leave your side especially in a time of danger, we will be-"

"You will do as I say, go ask the large man with the eyepatch if he needs help, I'm sure they could use some muscle like you."

With that she turned on her heel and wrapped her arm around David's, assuming he would escort her away from the wreckage,

"Are you alright David? Any harm done to you?"

Assume the body guards approached Alexander and asked if they could assist in any way

Nodding curtly, Alexander was surprised when the two bodyguards from before approached him and the politician/aid worker, asking to assist in whatever way they could. Standing up, Alexander straighted his now dirtied and bloodied dress shirt as he looked around, the pain his leg finally subsiding

"Overall it looks like this man here has the worst injury. Considering this gentlemen beside me is the closest we have to a doctor, I think he should remain here in case his condition"

Looking at the smoldering wreckage that was once the Conference Hall, Alexander took a deep breath as he delivered the grim news

"Considering that we haven't seen anyone emerge they're probably all dead inside...it's best if we remain out here and help everyone else. The three of us..."

He motioned to himself and the two bodyguards

"...will make sure everyone else is alright. That work with you Doc?"

Alexander asked the former aid worker

"Not too much Ms. Summers, though I did get this," David replied moving his hand from his temple to reveal the wound that was no longer dripping blood. "All in all, I think we did pretty well for ourselves. Though I think your two giant escorts may be right, it would prbably be best to join the others."

David took a quick glance as he said this to see the large, gore soaked piece of shrapnel that was removed from the man's leg, and had to fight bag the urge to vomit.

"Ah, actually, an operating area is no place for a lady like yourself, perhaps we should check the area for any survivors, non?"

Sutton slowly stood up, and glanced around. He sighed he gave a nod at the bodyguards, and turned to Alex.

?He can?t have any more help from me; I can?t do any care aside from emergency ops. But if you want me to keep an eye on him, so I have a chance of healing him using my fantastic affinity with telekinesis, I?ll be your gue-.?

Sutton was interrupted by a cough, and he turned around to face the American named Prant. How he had suddenly come up behind Sutton was a mystery. He fought the urge to recoil from him- the guy had to be one of the most intimidating people he?d ever seen. Despite being well into his fifties, Prant?s posture was straight and strict, and he measured around 6?2?- his brow was in a permanent furrow, as if he was about to bark orders at any moment, and his voice was loud, gruff, and authoritative. Although he was facing Sutton, he had the gift of addressing everyone, while keeping his eyes locked at Matthew?s.

?If you want to make progress, you should bring everyone you can here. It?d make getting picked up helluva? lot easier.?

Sutton gave a slow nod, and glanced at Alexander and the bodyguards. Before Sutton got a reply, Prant shouted again, this time over to David and Daisy.

?AND LOVEBIRDS, GET OVER HERE! THIS ISN?T THE TIME FOR A ROMANTIC STROLL!?

"We're just doing a check for other survivors," David shouted back to the group clustered around the wounded. He swore quietly under his breath. "It seems like we're going to be low on the totem pole with the group, right Ms. Summers?"

David pulled out another cigarette and lit it, "Ah, forgive, do you smoke?" David asked, offering his pack of cigarettes to Daisy.
