pc GTA 4 feels like a poorly made port. You must save to windows live and not your hard drive... want to log into rockstar games... want to play a game that runs poorly even if your well above the system reg.

gta4 is a type of game where people prefer to joke around like just throwing grenades off a building and see what happens then go through the story.

Well I try to finish every game I play, and this chart probably doesn't take into account games that are borrowed or rented. But not finishing the Halo 3 campaign? Really? Incredibly easy and short. And as for GTA 4 I never played it on my own gamertag(at a friends house) and none of my friends beat that game.

Fable is the only surprising one-- all the other games have a large multiplayer component, correct? If you build a game and market on multiplayer, its no surprise a lot of ppl won't finish it.

Of course, if Fable 2 is anything like fable 1, make a generally uninteresting game and people won't be driven to finish it.

I loved GTAIV immensely, but I felt as if the game was dragging its feet by the time Alderney was unlocked. Personally, I'd have liked a Staten Island instead.

I can understand why people would go far and not finish the game, but people who just say "It's not like GTAIII and therefore is bad" don't know what they're missing.

Orrrr.... people just don't have decent attention spans anymore. Or time for that matter. I always try to finish every game I start, and lately I've been rather disappointed in myself, because I keep getting distracted by other games.
I feel the same way. I just bought Borderlands, and now everything else is falling by the wayside. I do (or at least, used to) finish almost everything on the computer, but console games rarely have the meat to keep me interested.

In my case, I completed several games in offline mode, and when I eventually got a xbox gold, couldn't be bothered to redo many of them just for the sake of achievements.

Also, this is misleading - for example, it is NOT 45% of XBox gamers who bought Fable 2 who did complete it, its 45% of XBox Live gamers who did complete it.

In the case of XBox, the online data collection is bias towards multiplayer fans who play it enough to pay for the subscription.
This. The most salient fact of the survey is that the demographic it studies can reasonably be said to have a preference for online/multiplayer titles or modes. The people who are hardcore into single-player gaming probably aren't going to invest the time or the money into an online subscription service.

Never finished GTA4,but only because I had to reinstall shitty Windows 3/4 of the way into the game and never got the courage to do all those driving missions playing like a powerpoint presentation.

In conclusion,GTA4 was decent, the port sucked balls but it's all Vista's fault.
You know, that's just silly. Yeah, Vista is a resource hog- it's certainly not meant to be a gaming platform- but it's ludicrous to try to say it's the fault of the operating system manufacturer that their product is not optimized for a single game. News flash: there are plenty of games that ran flawlessly on Vista. No, the problem is that Rockstar barely did any testing on the port that they shoveled out the door.

And go get Win7. It's awesome for gaming.

When getting towards the middle half (and even the end) I slowed down my pace significantly with GTAIV. Not that I was upset it was ending, but because I began to realize that it actually wasn't that good. I got incredibly bored with the game and I remembered that as soon as I beat it, I shut off my system. I looked out from the island Niko was standing on, and shut off my game. What reasons did I have for going back to Liberty City? Pretty much none. After that, I played the online for a few days, but that game has been gathering dust ever since.

I always finish games unless I actually can't (either because of difficulty, or if I loathe the game). I've had Devil May Cry (1) for about 4 years now, and I still can't get past those underwater sections for some reason.

It was GTA4 that: (1) made me fundamentally distrust game reviews and look to the forums for information regarding game purchases, and (2) led me to institute a policy of waiting 2-3 months after game release and only buy it if people were still talking (favorably) about it.

The gameplay and controls are simply bad in GTA4, IMHO. Anybody who didn't finish it had the sense to go play something better instead. Yeah it was hard, because the controls were crap.

I never finished GTA4 and sold it off. The voice acting and all the characters were great in intressting, but for me the gameplay was simply boring. I didn't like the shooting nor the driving. Especially the shooting felt crippled and clumbsy. I would have liked to finished it just for the story but had to sell something to afford other games that was on my list of want.

Did I say Microsoft Vista was the cause of the bad port? No.
Vista croaked for no good reason, deleting all my game's saves and couple pictures I didn't put on my other hard-drive.
So the fact that I didn't want to start over was due to the fact my saves were gone, and my saves were gone because of vista.
So it's Vista's fault.There.

I, sir, have defended my argument and await any potential rebutals.

The first thing I do is play through the campaign (unless its an rts then I usually just play skirmishes) but this is really baffling to me. The first thing I did was beat gta4 I cant imagine going into a multiplayer scenario without first beating the game. I always feel strange doing it especially since I like to see all the content as I play the game instead of just having it all dumped onto me.

Ah... well, I can see that. Entirely legitimate. However (you knew it was coming :p ), take a look at the above sentence that I bolded. It would've been clearer if you said: "the port sucked balls but it's all Vista's fault that I didn't finish the game." The way you put it made it sound like you were yet another of the mindless Microsoft bashers that crop up on these forums from time to time.
