Just like the planned Girl with the Dragon Tattoo AmeriMake, studio execs have completely failed to notice that what made the original good was its tone and atmosphere, which was brought about by the location and the sensibilities of the local directors, crew and screen talent.

There should be a law against American remakes. I'd handle losing The Departed and State of Play over it.
Yeah and a law against Bruno Mattei remaking american movies. ;) His remakes are just horrendous.

All this bitching about American remakes annoys me - a bad remake doesn't affect the greatness of the original. If you don't like the remake, just forget about it. Nobody is forcing you to watch it again, and there's no reason to endlessly complain about it.
Actually, i believe the bugbear with remakes in general is that it can completely overshadow the original. A shitty remake can lead people to believe the source material was just as bad. Or, in some extreme cases, not even be aware of the source material in the first place. People may look at "Let Me In", say it sucks, and aren't even aware it started life as a novel, let alone a Swedish film.

I half want to boycott it for vomiting on one of my favorite movies of all time and being generally a disgrace and half want to go see it so I can properly judge it. Right when I saw "From the director of Cloverfield" I knew that they were going to make it over the top and miss the point. It's like they never even saw the original or took a look at the book.

95% sure it's gonna suck hard. I'm not even a fan of the original film and I'm convinced this one will be far weaker.

Stop judging things by the ads. They could make -anything- look bad. Like, for example, they did with Kick Ass.

Speaking of which, I'm excited for just about any movie Chloe Moretz is in.

I think they're judging it more along the lines of what those involved have done when compared to the original.

I get it, something to do with the wolf.
Anyway, it looks interesting, I haven't seen the other version.

Because they've seen this somewhere outside the ads?

Sucks, stupid, hate it, ruining a great thing, pisses me off, hate lazy fuckers who don't wanna read subtitles and are missing out on a brilliant film.

I've just gotta say, it better include child on child violence, eunuch vampires, and acid face melting. Even so, I'd still hate it.

Whoever this idea belongs to, kill yourself.
Wow so do you realize that there are other demographics than your own? I frequently watch movies with my girlfriends mom who has poor english and has a much better time listening to english rather than reading it. So this would be a much better way for her to watch Let the Right one in. This remake doesn't destroy the original so why don't you just calm down and turn it down a tad?
don't tell me what to do.
Wow what an awesome rebuttal, you know what just forget what i said obviously you lack the openmindness to accept the fact that not everyone thinks the way you do.

Looks like shit.

I fucking hate the idea of this. It looks horrible and it's going to bring shame to the first one.

The original was a love story between a boy and a girl who just happens to be a vampire. Crazy shit ensues but for the most part, it's a love story, not some grizzly horror.

That, unfortunately is what this looks like. They're turning it into a darker Twilight type movie with major emphasis on horror aspects. Fuck, even the title sucks.

"Let Me In"

It just sounds too forceful.

I LOVED Let the Right One In, so it's only natural that Let Me In pisses me the hell off, I first saw the trailer when I was dragged to that exorcism movie (avoid it at all costs) by my sister like two weeks ago, we both RAGE...

It looks like a mediocre pop-up fest that provides no actual horror atmosphere, but only provides mindless pop-up startles. Something in all American horror films.

This looks like a fucking scene-by-scene remake.

So, all they did was re-inact the original movie with American actors?!

Good Christ, can't these people just read the fucking subtitles? Is this really such a chore?
Exactly this.

I'm not sure what it is with the greater American public (And I'm well aware not all Americans are like this) and foreign films. There's a certain mindset that Americans can't empathize with characters unless they're American. Now, I don't know how true that is, but Hollywood seems to believe it and that leads to shit like this.

It just seems so pointless.
*generic patriotic outrage*

Wait, no. I actually agree with you. I don't understand it. It's a pretty distinct contradiction in our country.

What the hell? Is there any movie that Hollywoord wont remake? And are people just to lazy to read the damn subtitles?

Totally remade Funny Games that way, too.
Still confused me.

Predictions, eh?

Sure thing: it won't be as good as the original.
Good bet: the film will pull a couple of unique punches and some of the haters will warm to it.
Long shot: the film will be good enough to earn a top 10 spot on many "top horror of 2010" lists.

True, I didn't think of that side of it. But at the end of the day, you know the original is great (and the book), and all that matters is that you enjoy it. If people write it off because of a crappy remake, then that's their loss.

Thank god. The original looked really interesting but I won't watch any movies that aren't made by AMERICANS with AMERICAN actors...in AMERICA! Thank you Hollywood for ensuring I don't accidently enjoy something from another culture or have my ears raped by a filthy foreign tongue ^_^.

Well now that I know this is a remake it is time to go watch the original, because this looked pretty damn good.
