What's my kill count? Am I still alive and fit to bite giant monsters from the deep?

i got screentime! and i died... oh well. at least i didn't ddie grabbing socks or anything, i died in battle. the whole spear thing reminds me of all the times i've been hit in the face with random objects, that didn't really bug me. lol. though seriously, suffocation?
You suffocated becuase there was an arrow lodged in your lung that made breathing difficult. With no one around to help, the injury only got worse and you subsequently died from it.

why dont you have Nobles yet Kraken? and what are you planning for them when they do turn up?
Nobles don't exist in the current Dwarf Fortress game, at least not in the way you are probably thinking. Perhaps you are thinking of the old versions where you had nobles like guild masters and tax collectors visit the fort. Such NPCs no longer exist. The only nobles you have are your own self-appointed leader, and in rare cases the king/queen and their consort.

Is it possible that he survived the syndrome because his hand was smashed open therefore causing blood loss so he didn't pop?
I don't believe dwarves can actually die by exploding (ew) from such a syndrome. While syndromes do a lot of things, that isn't one of them. I think.

I would laugh my ass off if this goes on for another year IRL and the delayed effects kick in.
If this goes on for another year in real life I'll probably kill myself for wasting so much time on it.

How is Root going to carry a second baby. Unless I'm mistaken, doesn't Root only have one arm?
Root currently carries a spear and shield in addition to two infants and somehow manages to use them properly. No, I don't know how that works. Dwarves are determined fighters and find a way.

I finally got my own fortress off the ground. although now my miners are dead because I dug down a z-layer and I guess they couldn't get out and died of thirst. a shame really.
I'm starting to get the hang of it, just so many buttons to push.
That is the exact same way my first fort started.

congrats lemur, root! hey kraken, just a quick nquestion, what size was your worldgengen and what numbber of beasts? you seam to be chewing through fbs quite nicely. like i said, it is possible that eventually you'll kill them all, if beasts are low enough and the world is small enough.
I always pick the largest worldgen size available. I think the last time I checked the typical number of forgotten beasts in such worlds was around 120.
