Too bad you can't convince Alath that duct taping his dagger to the end of his crutch would make a really sweet weapon.Internet Kraken said:Though I wonder if you can even use crutches if you're missing a hand to.

Then you'd get people trying to find ways to intentionally cut off a dwarves limbs without killing them so they can become adamantine gods.scotth266 said:Internet Kraken said:Well having a trained doctor wouldn't help Alath to get back up, since even a doctor legendary in all medical skills can't make someone use crutches.vallorn said:i wish it were easier to get Alath back on his feet... i never leave without a trained doctor for this very reason. i get attatched and downt want em to die.

Hell, it would even present an interesting challenge: what you made the limb out of could effect the dwarf's mobility and strength!
oh god. Legendary Adamantine Cyborg Heroes wielding Legendary Artefacts... I'd like that. Odds are it's listed as a future feature though, as it's been suggested a lot of times.
what made it wierder was that the Golems threw parties... and that the most unlikely people are scoring the biggest kills.OhJohnNo said:Oh dear god, that was priceless.
"We are under attack from a massively huge beast with two heads! Quick, everyone, LET'S PARTY!"
That's what my lovely cats are for. Lot of miasma, but no interruptions. Get your farmers a cat today.Cowabungaa said:Shame that an above-ground farm means MANY interuptions though,
Que? I love cats for killing spiders and lizards and rats that plague my stockpiles, but they never take on wolves, goblins and raccoons that annoy my farmers. That's what my 2 squads and hunter are for. But they're usually too late.The_root_of_all_evil said:That's what my lovely cats are for. Lot of miasma, but no interruptions. Well, that's what the Nazi's did when Berlin was being pounded into dust. They all just cracked under the pressure I tell ya.OhJohnNo said:Oh dear god, that was priceless.

Mine tend to drag their fresh kills back to their Dwarven keepers. Next to the Trade Depot. Where it rots...Cowabungaa said:It's strange that you're getting miasma by the way, I only get it below ground. Well I don't because my dwarves, and the cats themselves, always drag dead pests to the neat little refuse pile outside my fortress walls.
You don't have refuse stockpiles?The_root_of_all_evil said:Mine tend to drag their fresh kills back to their Dwarven keepers. Next to the Trade Depot. Yeah, but when you're carrying huge statues into the Depot, and the cat drops something at your feet, would you pick it up and bring it outside?Aidinthel said:You don't have refuse stockpiles?The_root_of_all_evil said:Mine tend to drag their fresh kills back to their Dwarven keepers. Much appreciated, Kraken! With these golems I can now have early defence without the thermonucleardogsplosion!Internet Kraken said:Download Mod, Get Eaten by Krakens

A while back some people asked me about the creatures I had modded into the game, and if they could put them in their own game. I said that I would make a mod they could download to do so.
That was over a month ago at least.
But look! I finally got around to doing it! Actually, I did do this back when people asked, but didn't link it here for some reason.
DOWNLOAD [http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=3561]
1.) Download file
2.) Extract txt files to objects in your Dwarf Fortress folder (/raw/objects)
3.) That's it. Easy to install and shouldn't overwrite any existing files.
The mod adds a bunch of extra creatures to Dwarf Fortress. It's not intended to be a game changing mod, just something I've been making to add a personal touch to the game. Now before you download this, there's something you should keep in mind; this mod was not intended to be released to the public. At least, not any time soon. So while everything in this is functional, there are of course issues. Grammatical errors, unoptimized features, balance issues, etc. It's not going to make your game implode, but just be wary that it's not as optimized as I'd like it to be. If you want to help me optimize it, just give me some feedback by posting in this thread or PMing me (if you talk about a creature that hasn't been seen yet, it's best to use spoilers).

I was waiting for a weapon better than a short sword, on account of short swords being worse than normal swords. As for weapons, I prefer to only use weapons that don't require two hands so the soldier can hold a shield as well. I typically use battle axes, but swords work well to. It doesn't hurt to mix them in. Really any weapon should be fine so long as it is one handed. Though if a squad uses exclusively blunt weapons, they could have trouble with the handful of enemies that resist blunt damage.ynotgriff said:I was wondering, What is you favorite weapon? I seem to remember you saying you wanted to wait for a better weapon then a sword so what do you recommend?
Love the LP!
