Okay, I need to think about this. We've dealt with ghosts before, so we can deal with this one. I mean granted those ghosts didn't try and rip your arm off, but the same basic principle for getting rid of them should apply, right?
Ghosts are sealed away when you bury the former body of the ghost or make a memorial to them. Simple enough, so I just need to find out who the ghost is. Maybe it's not actually a dwarf. Maybe it's some evil goblin ghost that's come back to haunt us! Or an amphibian man killed years ago, come back to avenge to death of its tribe!
...or it's the spirit of a child. What kind of kid goes around killing- oh fuck, it's Avuz isn't it?

So it seems that even in death Avuz is still trying to take out his rage upon innocent dwarves. I'm not quite sure how one manages to even do that. Does every dwarf become a ghost? What causes this? Do you have to intentionally choose to haunt people? Is Avuz attacking us because Ingiz ate him?
Well I suppose it doesn't matter now since he's gone. For good this time.
Goden took action right away and made a memorial slab for Avuz, which caused his spirit to vanish.
Not sure why Goden chose those things to put on the slab but so long as it works I'm not complaining. Hopefully we won't have to deal with something like this ever again.

So I went to trade with the humans only to find that the trade depot was empty. The humans were nowhere to be found, as if they had just gotten up and left at night.
I didn't understand where they had gone or why, but it all soon became clear. Apparently one of the farmers saw the humans heading down the deep roads to the caverns. They walked through one of the winding tunnels into the untamed wilds and were never seen again. The humans evidently had no interest in trading and only came to Reveredtour to escape the goblin horde. Upon learning that we had no chance of defeating the goblins they opted to try escaping through the caverns rather than wait in the fort. While there are passages leading up to the surface all over the world, it's far too easy to get lost in the seemingly endless tunnels of the deep. That's why we never risk having dwarves go on expeditions far away from Reveredtour. Most of the time when dwarves venture off into the caves they never return. I hope for the best, but honestly I don't see the humans faring much better.

Why can't the good times ever last? Something always goes wrong. Someone always messes something up. And then dwarves die. When Rabid asked about ways to improve the forts defenses, I didn't anticipate him doing something reckless and dangerous. What he ended up doing was attempting to tame the beak dogs we had captured in previous invasions.
Now I wanted to train the beak dogs to, but they're just to violent and savage due to goblin training methods. You'd be able to tell this after spending more than a minute around one, but Rabid believed he could manage to get them under control.
He was wrong.
The beak dog broke free and attempted to tear him to shreds. He cried out for help, but the Immortal Rags were out hunting trogs, leaving only the Steamy Tours to fight off the beast. And though they did manage to save Rabid, they did so at a great cost.
They died. All of them. The Steamy Tours were wiped out. Even Commander Cowabunga was killed, his other arm torn off as a final insult before the beak dog crushed his skull.
Then Double A, who had just woken up from a nap, casually walked over and stabbed the beak dog to death.
The Steamy Tours never stood a chance. It seems that Root had reserved all of the steel equipment for the Immortal Rags, depriving the Steamy Tours of both armor and weapons. I know the Steamy Tours were the backup squad, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't get any equipment! Thankfully, I don't think this will be an issue in the future, as Root was quite upset when she found out that Cowabunga and Logem had both died. Apparently the three shared a bond over their missing limbs, which is both touching and strange. She'll probably opt to give the next squad some good equipment so this doesn't happen again, though if the forge masters work hard that might not even be necessary.

While dwarves may die here at Reveredtour, at least life is occasionally created here as well. Wolfe has given birth to an adorable little girl. I'm honestly surprised she had another child. Considering Vallorn is a cripple confined to the hospital, you'd think they wouldn't be able to...I probably should make the sanitary regulations about the hospital more clear in the future.
Anyway, little Scotth266 is our newest addition to Reveredtour. For a baby, she does seem a bit...heavy, but I don't think she has any health problems. I'm sure she'll live a happy life with her brother Elth. Their family is one of the few that has not lost any members to tragedy, and I hope that continues to be the case.
