I only just got into modding, plus, I only ever had FO3 for PS3. New Vegas is actually my first PC game (that is to say game that is on a disk that you play on the computer not counting Army Men II when I was 6 years old). Add my first experience with mods and I'd say I am now a half-breed between console and PC gamer. As far as New Vegas mods, I'll list just a few of the ones I have right now: I got the THOR gun, Vault-Tech Power, the Pip-Boy Readius Replace-er, Run the Lucky 38, Enclave Commander, Real Time Settler, and a bunch of clothing and armor stuff that just adds things I wish were in the game already, like super-mutant eye pieces for your character.

I love all of those, especially Run the Lucky 38. I actually think it sheds a lot of light on Mr. House despite being non-cannon. When I read the notes and terminals that mod adds, I feel like it gives some of the missing lore about House's life. Kind of like spiritual successors to the terminal entries you find by his brother that shed light on their relationship.

The Vault-Tech power armor seems like something the developers would have actually made, both design-wise and idea-wise. The THOR gun, not so much but still fun to use.

The Readius is more for role-playing purposes.

Enclave commander is great fun and, occasionally with the help of a few console commands and/or other mods, can be used for a bit or role playing as well.

Real time settler is pretty cool but I feel like there are some things it is missing.

The rest is not as interesting to talk about.

I did actually recently get the Underwater Hideout mod for New Vegas which might be by the same guy/girl that made the hideout in your update. It's great fun.

All and all, I love mods but sometimes I wonder why some people seem to think mods like re-texturing weapons to make them look like real life weapons that were just manufactured yesterday are good for the game. I guess my real problem is with people messing up the flavor of the world that was built so well.

Now for something else entirely: I've been really busy lately and am having trouble coming up with a Lesson topic. Any suggestions?

How about something to due with the fact that guns are a main weapon in the wasteland, yet some people fight bare-handed or with sticks.

That sounds like an interesting thought but I can't see any philosophical or ideological discussion coming from it.

How about the nature of "Man: The warrior" then? You know: the idea that manly men have to always be fighters?

I'm grasping at straws here, fella

I did have another one.

How about a post on the change in the family-unit, following the war? I didn't see many (Pardon the term) "Nuclear Families" in Fallout 3 or New Vegas, outside Vault 101. I just saw everyone in it for themselves.

So in general, family values changing after Nuclear war

You know, I think that when discussing my "Lessons" I'm gonna play up the "Head Scribe" thing. Partially for comedic effect, partially because it could help clarify some of my more unfocused ideas.

You get an A for this suggestion and a B+ for the one before it. This one is very good and unless something better comes along by tomorrow night I'm going to use it. The Man=Warrior thing was good too but not a ripe as this one.

So, I'll start- *looks at MinimanZombie* Are you chewing gum in my class? Yeah I thought so. Next time I'll put you on patrol duty mister.

Anyway, Feel free to give me any ideas you guys have. If it doesn't beat the family idea then I still might use it some other time.

Thanks, teach.

My other idea was on the idea of the food chain, and how it might change in a environment where most every creature has mutated, and gained some sort of combat advantage. This creates an evolutionary "arms race" between predators and prey.

I give that a B-. It is a very solid idea but it seems to be straddling the line between science and philosophy.

So you're doing Philosophy? I was confused. I thought you were doing both.

Anyhooo....

My last idea was the evolution of Law. What is the main "law" of the wasteland? Survival. Regardless of who you are in the wasteland, that is the major rule you follow. Sure, if your good, you might go to lengths to help people, but you are, at the end of the day, trying to live. Even without authority, law still exists. That's the law of nature.

That's all I got, teacher.

I'm not very good at "hard" science either.

My areas of study are Law, Political Science, and International Relations. Not much I can do with that in the context of this thread.

Also, if you ever feel like being funny, try coming up with a "in-canon" reason why children are invincible

What's your favorite mod for Fallout 3?
Well I don't have F3 or NV for PC, so I don't have nay favourite mods.

However, being a W40K fan (yes, this is relevant), I do have a favourite Dawn of War mod;

You really need to play Honest Hearts, then you could do a lesson on religion.

Maybe the radiation passed down through the generations has slowly inreased their immune system, so much so that they have physical immunity as well. Also, do you think that ghouls or super mutants can reproduce? If so it would be interesting to see a offspring from one of them.

Both, in canon, are sterile. And thank god for that.

In fact, Super Mutants being unable to reproduce is an important factoid for Fallout 1, if I'm not mistaken.

B+, and the idea of me attempting science is as funny as it is terrifying.
I'm not very good at "hard" science either.

My areas of study are Law, Political Science, and International Relations. Not much I can do with that in the context of this thread.

Also, if you ever feel like being funny, try coming up with a "in-canon" reason why children are invincible

Huh. I really need to play Fallout 1 and 2.

*strokes beard* Hmmmmm...I'll ponder that a bit, nicely done student. Sill open for suggestions by anyone who cares though.

Yeah, it's on my "To-play" list. Just as soon as I get a PC that can play a game for half an hour without overheating.

Yeah, if you can convince the Master that it's true he realizes his world domination plans are doomed.

And your current computer really can't play Fallout 1? What, is it steam powered?

No, I have a gerbil I just let run

Joking aside, it can run the game. It's just that this laptop wasn't intended to game on, and it overheats very quickly. Granted, if I get a fan, that likely won't be an issue.

But I also have classes, and not as much time to really get invested in a game.
