Unfortunately, there's a lot of double standards.
Frankly, far too many people I meet are perfectly okay with something if it benefits them, but utter hypocrites ten minutes later.
To be blunt, I see most of the double standards when I deal with women, though by no stretch of the imagination are any race, color, or creed innocent.
Controversial one?
I saw a group of 'african-american teens' gathered in front of my place of work, where Loitering is in fact illegal and posted so.
When I told them to leave, there of course was a storm of complaints and demands for explanation, and of course the Race Card. Thing is, they know it's not racist. They know it's nothing to do with it. They claim it as a cheap, bullshit power play to get their way.
Here's the double standard I hate the most:
"You can't judge me just by my chosen appearance and how I act!"
In the above example:
a) this particular group had chosen to dress and act as close to the media stereotype of criminals as they could.
b) they were committing a crime (Loitering)
c) due to a) and c) they are actively frightening other customers and their children.
So, Double Standard: No one can judge *them* by their appearance...but if you attempt to enforce a clearly posted law, *you* are judged as a Racist.
