Personally, I can't stand shonen power struggles that basically work out the formula:

1) Protagonist discovers he has a unique potential.
2) Big bad guy appears.
3) Protagonist strengthens self using training technique.
4) Protagonist defeats the bad guy.
5) A new, bigger bad guy appears!
6) Go to 3, over and over again, for hundreds of episodes, until people completely lose interest in the anime.
7) Protagonist's hard work pays off, the plot moves forward to something else. (Warning: we were never reach this step.)

It worked for Dragonball Z, but then everybody wanted to be the next Dragonball Z, and where imitation comes in entertainment the novelty and value of it is largely lost.

It started as a great concept for a show, but like many other titles.....One Piece *cough cough* Naruto *cough cough* and DBZ *cough cough wheeze* It tends to stretch a fight scene over 3-5 episodes. Sometimes, I just skip from episode 1 to the end of the fight. Hell, Bleach ended after they got Rukia back. Episode 60ish. DBZ is just people wailing on each other and talk talk talk. Naruto is almost like the last Airbender movie where you spend half the show talking about the technique that you are going to use, then you use it and Bam....Next episode.....

I'm currently going through bleach right now, up to the part inside Los Nochez (misspell?) anyway, I'm finding it awesome.

Fuck Bleach. It's shit. Why is it shit? Bleach is shit because NOBODY FUCKING DIES and the story is a series of deus ex machina one after the other. Fuck that shit.

And yet, I love Bleach for some retarded reason. I can't stop watching it and will stay with it until it ends.

No, it's not because of tits.

I watch Bleach from time to time. I give it a good solid "Meh" as a rating. nuthin' special, but good when you're starved for entertainment.

9/10ths tripe.

It starts off well enough but it enters a load of bullshit right around when you finish the first major arc where they save Rukia. From there the plot gets mixed up and confused and acts like a 9 headed dog trying to chase 9 bones in 9 different directions.

I was a Freshman in college when they first hit Hueco Mundo. They're still sorting out that plot arc.

Right around when Ichigo went to the hyperbo- I mean, when he had to go fight himself. Again. To learn an ability he already knew....

Ok, no. I have to stop. The show's gotten damn-near-unreadable. If it wasn't for the fact that the manga's only about 18 pages a week where very little ever happens in terms of plot advancement I simply wouldn't read it.

I watched the anime to about the same point as the creator of the thread and then moved on to the manga (same with Naruto). I think the manga is really nicely written and now it even seems to be coming to and end which would be darn great since it's a bit too long already in my opinion but in overall it's a good way to get some time to fly if you have nothing to do.

Meh, I like it. I haven't read the manga before "chapter" 250+, don't really plan to. However, I've seen the anime from episode 1 to now, and I think I have a pretty good understanding of the series, as a whole.
For the most part, and I know I'm a minority on this, I rather like the filler. We get to expand on the characters within the Bleach universe, much better than in the main story arcs. Conflicts and fights that we'd never see in the main story; and the silliness. Ohhhhh the silliness. The Bleach characters take a day off at the beach. Need I say more?
Shoot, it's not like there's a whole lot going on in the main story episodes, anyway. It seems like almost one significant thing happens in each episode. Compare this to some of the filler arcs, where each episode is its own contained plot as part of the overall storyline. Meanwhile, the main story episodes still suffers from DBZ syndrome, taking multiple episodes for someone to kill someone. This goes on while someone else laments their weakness instead of, you know, trying not to be annihilated.
Any other "drawbacks" could likely be attributed to the other typical drawbacks that can be expected from one of these "shonen-style" anime.

You can always tell when a good series is going into the toilet because it starts to go down the shonen power struggle (tm) path. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure was an exception, because a) there's no "strengthening" of the characters until the very, very end of the arc (using the 3rd story arc as an example), b) cunning and outwitting the opponent is way more important to victory than power levels, c) the series was never intended to be anything OTHER than a series of highly entertaining battles, and d) it's one of the freaking best drawn mangas of all time.

It was pretty cool and the saving Rukia arc was awesome.

I skipped the whole Bounto stuff untill they got to the Vizard story, but ultimately I just stopped watching altogether. I dip in and out of the manga every once in a while.

I like it. Bar the filler seasons.

I find the epic super-power stuff awesome. I just wish they'd get on with the epic-ness quicker. And reveal peoples Bankai, like the captains etc. And can they just kill off or forget that Orihime exists? If I have to listen to her exclaim "Kurosaki-kun" again I'm going to buy a ticket to Japan and murder the series creator.

I used to be a huge fan of it, but better, more Geass-y things appeared on the horizon and I just forgot all about it.

I read the manga because Ever since Kubo's trolling streak in the recent chapters I just HAVE to know how far he ll take it...

I mean with the appearence of Ishin and right after that Aizen turning into a pearl-death angel thing just when you think that Ichigo and Ishin kicked his ass. He procedes to slaughter everyone and then just keeps on going like nothing until Gin turned out to be a traitor (or something) and apparently kills AIzen but is still fucked up considering How many people he willingly harmed and right after that Aizen resurects and just comes out of nowhere and Slashes Gin like there's no tommorow...

Trolling extravaganza!

Oh and what happened to Kon?

As for the anime, I watch it because I think the animators did a Kick ass job. I mean how awesome was Ichigo vs Ulquiora (sp?).

As I said before, the only real reason to watch the anime is for the music.
