Yeah, you have to beat the first boss to access. Have you tried teleporting to another stargazer (bonfire of this game)?

I have beaten the 4th boss. And I'm starting to think that the weapon crafting isn't all that cracked up to be. First off, there can be a terrible damage debuff if you combine incompatible parts. Secondly, some weapon creations do not feel right. But the unmodded weapon designs do look amazing.

They also felt the need to add a fucking platforming section, AND enemies with projectiles that can knock you off. It's like sen's fortress, only there;s way less room to maneuver around.

As for parry system, apparently you have to hold down the block button a bit longer to get the effective stagger break
So basically that explains what the “P” is for in the title. It’s Parry, and it’s a lie because it actually sounds more like a block.

Haven't watched, but curious in terms of what?
It's little things, like your "soul" or whatever that has your money, being at the entrance to a boss room rather than inside it, the unlockable paths having a little glowing light next to them to indicate where they are. She didn't find it easy but it does seem there's a lot more "conveniences" in Lies of P than regular FromSoft games.

Souls left outside the boss room makes sense for convenience but I guess with FROM it’s meant to make the player think about what they have and be more careful under certain conditions. It adds a bit of tension, although most who play FROM games got into the habit of spending them before tough encounters anyways. Or in the case of ER using an item or equipping a talisman that prevents the loss. Quitting the game from the menu is also a way to escape after you grab them.

The other thing is it’s only currency being lost, which can either easily be replaced or if it took a long time to acquire and the player takes the risk of carrying them into unknown situations then they have to also accept whatever the consequences of that might be. I did like the option Sekiro had of using money bags or whatever to store currency in if the player doesn’t want to spend them. Not sure about how Lies of P is structured but as that Seraphim video showed it seems that cheap deaths can be attributed to how the parry system works. Maybe the devs understood that after the fact and did the easier access soul thing as a courtesy.

As for unlockable paths, it sounds like a difference in design philosophy. Sure it’s easier to just look for the glowing lights, but it diminishes the feeling of discovering anything significant in that respect.

You know what my biggest problem with the game is? It's the community.

I mean holy shit, I know the souls fanbase can get really defensive about the games, and I've done it too, but r/liesofp is really toxic. You can't raise a single critism over there without being downvoted to oblivion. Same thing with the steam discussion page.

The funny thing is, if one of them raises the exact same criticisms, it suddenly becomes a very important discussion. WTF

Going to Reddit was your first mistake.

I had the same problem when i criticized FF16 on the Final Fantasy reddit. Reddit itself is just a giant circlejerk, actually having opinions is not allowed.

The Hololive sub has been a good one 99% of the time, and I've also heard good things about the Factorio sub. But yeah, as bad as The Platform Formally Known As Twitter, is, Reddit has it beat when it comes to making ech-chambers. There's good subs, but the places that get heavy traffic tend to become nasty mosh pits.

It doesn't matter the game or movie, Reddit always have the overly defensive assholes. I know they're good people on there, but even the DMC sub-reddit suffers from the same issue. As another user from a different forum told me, the reddit forum became fine after the fallout of the reboot settled down completely, and DMC 5 came out. It was fine at first, but nobody came there to talk about the actual game or the best strategies, only about dumb memes. Later on within a year. If you talk about anything else or ask for advice, you would get an automatic dv from everyone. The moderators would do nothing or join in on the down vote.

That's what happens when you enable dick head behavior, and rarely do anything to punish.

First post-launch patch is here:

The capacity one is huge, as it's tied to stamina recovery speed. My personal favorite change.

Also love how the game is made a bit easier with character buffs and boss/monster debuffs

Normally I would say Yahtzee needs to play more to see the different enemy types, but it really doesn't get any more different. I mean it starts with puppets, then the infected, and finally the
puppets powered by the said corrupted infected now more powerful
. Also agree on the weapon crafting system. Great concept, except once you find the thing that works best for you (or in general), you won't really be experimenting with the feature.

So basically, the chimera seeds from DMC 4? Except the infection is not plant-based I take it? Or does the infection function more like a parasite, similar to Las Plagas?

Basically,
The in-game world discovered a material called Ergo, which was source of power for everything you see in the game including puppets. But it also had a terrible side-affect of making people into crazy infected. And of course, the big bad thinks this is the "next evolution of the human race" and begins experimenting with the process, producing even bigger monsters.

I am really sick of the dumb "next stage of evolution", by using a virus or some alien parasite. It's been over done ladies and gentlemen! This is really a problem with a lot of horror games, or anime that uses plot point or twist as a crutch.

Yeah, I agree. In fact, the moment I saw the enemy types, I kinda saw what was gonna come later. Even the second-to-last boss was predictable. It definitely killed some fun of the game for me.
