Thats the thing, why torture the kids who listen and pay attention?Datalord said:For me its a Meh, school is too easy for me, so its another hour or so of boredom, but maybe this will halt the spread of Innumeracy and Stupidity (i doubt it though).Goldbling said:Obama just announced that within four years he will raise the amount of days months and years we go to school, the only upside is for the teachers who will most likely be very pleased because they get pay raises
What are your thoughts on a longer school day?
We had to walk through 2 feet of snow wearing sandals all year carrying 50 pound book bags, and it was uphill both ways!Combined said:You young whippersnappers, with your longer school days. Back when I was your age, we had to go 12 years to school, for six days every week and we were happy about it!
Obama's the spending type, if you couldn't already tell from the, you know, trillion or so dollars he's already spent.Aardvark said:Longer school hours/days/weeks/months/years would mean more cash required for education. It's a nice dream to have, but everybody knows the only thing politicians do to education funding is slash the hell out of it.
^You see that? This kind of post is why people think kids are so uneducated. People on the internet just need to learn to spell better, because this is what makes our American youth looks bad.skib132 said:u think u got problems im a teacher and not a english one at that i have to stay behind a extra 2 hour after all you kids go home and lose at COD 5 to me (ha ha ha) so that makes it so i wont get home till 7 and then i have no time to mark work or get anything done if u agree that we should make school only 3 compre to 6 hours a day comment hell ye
"Mr.Teacher", if that is your real name/occupation, I'm talking not about loathing the schedule we have now, but what are we going to do with more days? more time? more money?, if we don't know how to use it?skib132 said:u think u got problems im a teacher and not a english one at that i have to stay behind a extra 2 hour after all you kids go home and lose at COD 5 to me (ha ha ha) so that makes it so i wont get home till 7 and then i have no time to mark work or get anything done if u agree that we should make school only 3 compre to 6 hours a day comment hell ye
The thing is, this isn't going to provide more education for most kids!Jak The Great said:meh, more education is exactly what this country needs. as for the longer days it's not like high school aged kids do anything that demands their time. Homework as it stands is a joke. A part time job will pale in comparison to a full time job making real money, so I say go ahead and make the days longer. It's for your own good. Thank you Obama for actually caring about the education of our youth. I won't be able to benefit, but at least my children will.
Yeah, pretty much that.Goldbling said:"Mr.Teacher", if that is your real name/occupation, I'm talking not about loathing the schedule we have now, but what are we going to do with more days? more time? more money?, if we don't know how to use it?
well thats...not going to be fun for the Amaricans...but a better education will pay off in the long run...just hope this doesent come to CanadaGoldbling said:Obama just announced that within four years he will raise the amount of days months and years we go to school, the only upside is for the teachers who will most likely be very pleased because they get pay raises

Edit: and to all the people saying "I'll be out by then", he said WITHIN 4 years, might be next year might be the year after, no one knows
But he never specified if it was going to be one, two, or even three years longer. I imagine three with how much Obama likes to spendCharli said:I went to school for a year longer than average due to country hopping alot, It wasn't so bad. Infact I'd go so far as to say it helped. I don't think I'd have been ready for some of my exams a year earlier.
So quit moaning, once its the norm, people are generally accepting. I'd say an extra year in school isn't so bad really, some people struggle to hit maturity, and the more that do it quickly and in school, with that extra little stretch of time, the better.
And who's to say its "better", he didn't say better he said "longer", I'm sorry, "more" schoolzacaron said:well thats...not going to be fun for the Amaricans...but a better education will pay off in the long run...just hope this doesent come to CanadaGoldbling said:Obama just announced that within four years he will raise the amount of days months and years we go to school, the only upside is for the teachers who will most likely be very pleased because they get pay raises

Your actually taking this persons word that he is a teacher. You are also on the internet. This is usually enough evidence to suggest a fabrication is evident.Crazzee said:^You see that? Although, I don't even know if you're American, or you you're part of the "youth", so, in either case, please excuse me for using you as an example. >.>
