Well it is more exiting than google.

That's true. I don't like generic homepages, but I sort of have to have one. I had Socialist Party USA's homepage as my homepage but my nephew, who I share my computer with, kept changing it to generic. So I just settled with that (didn't even go to the effort to pick another site).

This story makes me happy to be an only child.

Yeah, and he's only 10 months younger than me. Also any time he EVER expresses a political opinion it is in line with socialist ideology. He said he didn't want socialist shit as his homepage. Its my computer from my old house that I moved in because its faster than his was.

I know I'm horrendously late, but what in the world did Max change his avatar into?

I'm not sure what his new avatar is. Seems to be an anime character

Have you ever thought that maybe you're going through that "angry 13 year old" phase? It would certainly explain a lot.

OT:

I keep coming back here to check my messages (today I got more than the past few weeks combined).

More seriously, I come back for parts of the community (like the anime fans group and certain members I'm fond of) and occasional interesting topics and happenings (say what you will about trolls, it's kinda exciting when they attack in a weird sort of way).

I must admit, to the point about trolls, that the occasional sighting and swift banning of a new noobjoob account is rather amusing on occasion.

One incident I fondly remember is this one guy who just signed up and made a thread to advertise. We called him on it and he said really stupid things and even posted a picture of corn (guess why I mentioned that, I dare you). The thread became a potluck, I shared a low calorie french fry recipe, and as a result I made a few friends (Suiseiseki IRL and Yegargeburble).

I've absolutely no guess about why you mentioned the corn picture other than maybe that it turned into the potluck thread

He posted it while saying to "shove it." No wonder he got banned and any trace other than some memories got erased.

As for how the potluck started, I'm not entirely sure, and I can't look it up as the thread was deleted.

The only remnants of the thread is under the bookmark of my profile. You can see the last traces of it there. Its the "best thing to hit the internet" thread. All that remains of possibly the greatest verbal exchange in the history of the world.

Personally I keep coming back because people post worthwhile/thought provoking topics. In my old forums every other section had only a few posts except the porno section...which had thousands. Also this forum is much cleaner than most.

Wow... That is a very good question.

I sit here now, listening to Sky Eats Airplane and pondering the question at hand and, honestly, I can't give you a reason.

At first, I came here to watch Zero Punctuation. Now, I choose to watch almost anything over it. It has become extremely unfunny and continues to get worse as more and more come out. So that cannot be the reason I come back.

I joined the forums due to the topics that I kept seeing and, seeing as though I enjoy an intelligent conversation from time to time, I decided to create a profile. I started with my posting being at a severe minimum and regret a lot of my early posts as well as my first thread.

The user's I learned to count on seeing each and every time I opened a thread have long since disappeared or nearly stopped posting due to many circumstances. (I miss you Juan, doki, taxi)

Thread's that actually stimulate my mind have become very few and far between and I have taken on the habit of posting in threads that catch my attention and have few posts so that my opinion may be heard seeing as threads with more than a page seem to go unread after the first six or seven posts.

I, unlike other users, don't get PM's from others. I guess I don't make much of an impression on people around here. Which is quite alright with me. It just rules out coming here to check my messages.

This rules out many reasons to come to this site.

On the other hand, I do enjoy seeing some of the newer users. A few of them tend to bring back some of the intelligent discussion that had been lost over my stay so far. I also enjoy watching the movie reviews that MovieBob does as he seems to influence my want to see a movie a lot now.

I suppose my return here multiple times per day has to stem from habit and the feel of acceptance. I don't like change and removing my trips to The Escapist would give me a tremendous chunk of free time that I have no idea what to do with. I also feel accepted here. I converse with many people of tastes similar to mine and feel like I belong to a group of people that understand me and my hobbies for once. (Though I will never understand this site's love for anything AC/DC, Metallica, Opeth, or anything of the like; or anything made by Valve)

So I thank you Escapist and its community. Thank you for giving me a place to spend my free time.

Same here, Sue gave me props for a couple of my posts on that thread. Lol. Pity it evaporated. Some things just need to stand as monuments to the moment. Still to this day my favorite thread.

Well, my forum activity has decreased a bit, after I started going to IRC (which, by the way, is awesome), but pretty much the same reason. I've been on some forums, and posted more, like the GameSpot forums, though most of it was done in unions, and I usually said something in every thread, which I do not do here.

So, it's safe to say I'm a fan of forums, and out of all of those, this is definitely the best, hence why, right now, it's one of the only forums I regularly visit.

Anyway, I don't know why I keep coming back here. Probably that empty feeling I get when I minimize all my windows and just see my desktop and realize how alone I really am. This site sort of alleviates that, I'd like to think I've made at least one person who visits here's life a better place, though PM, advice, clever/funny post, explanation, something...

And that makes me feel good/useful.

I come back here because there's always interesting topics going on and the community here is... well I wouldn't exactly say "intellectuals" but definitely above the average IQ of our standard internet dildo, and most of them have a good sense of humor as well. It's substantially more civil than your standard gaming forum which is generally just a constant giant flame war. Really the only down side is that it's a bit over obsessed with political correctness.
