I've never truly loved another person, but I've not lived long enough. But I have loved an animal before. My old dog was a kind, completely mellow Staffy who pretty much followed me up and down the house, and never strayed from me when I walked. I loved that little guy.

I love my new dog too, but I don't think I could ever replace Barney. But in return, Barney could not replace Alfie either. It's a strange thing. Not like loving a person, more like losing a family member.

But I already tied love to the French. I can't do anything French, it is the exact opposite of American!

In love once, best summer I've ever had. It sucked when it ended, but I'm not bitter about it. We had so much fun together, the bad stuff just seems to melt away. You don't think about love as pointless because it'll end someday, that's like looking at a delicious apple and being afraid or angry at it because it will become a core once you eat it.

Edit:

Love is a force of nature. When a lot of people think of love, they think of relationships and can thus justify calling it a bunch of drama and social games. That's not love; that's relationships. Love is literally the only thing keeping life existent. Without love for living, we would not struggle. Without love for progress, we would be long gone. Without love for each other, we would be dead inside and devoid of motivation.

Love is present in the trees as they reach for the sun, in the wind as it carries the spores of life, and in us when we can see clearly the endless potential in all things. Love is in beauty, beauty is in everything. Love is in necessity and the superfluous. Love is the glue that keeps this chaotic mess of a universe together, and it is what will make you transcend what you are now if you allow it. Love is in me.
That's quite a beautiful sentiment.

Too young, have yet to find the proper gal to fall for, but I'm of the opinion that it's one of our more beautiful emotions.

Of course, infatuation is a different matter. The better part of the time it is... Less than fun in the end.

Sorry, love = only hormones. Animals don't feel love, but they feel hormones too. Even more than we do.

HUH! What is it good for...

Love is an evolutionary construct designed to ensure that the female of the species would have a partner to allow offspring to survive. As the our ancestors began walking upright and their brains began enlarging, they evolved an interesting way of allowing continued cranial expansion. The birthing of immature young. This meant that for years, the offspring were unable not only to fend for themselves but also unable to walk or communicate. "Love" is the way evolution solved the problem of males running off and pounding ass all day, never to be seen again.

Then Disney got a hold of it, and fooled entire modern generations into believing it was out there for everyone and there was such a thing as "one true love". Love is scary, it's like a drug you can't turn off and a loss of control that outweighs any insanity or derangement.

But damn, like all drugs, it feels GOOD!
I love it when people who use this.
Yes, love is the result of a mix of hormones...but what triggers the brain to release those hormones, exactly? The hormones involved in love aren't the same as those involved in lust or familial love, so what, exactly, triggers this change in brain chemistry? Scientists and researchers don't even know, and I don't think we can state things we believe in as cold, hard, facts. After all, we don't truly 'know' anything.

Only once I've been in love, and the oter didn't love back. However I'm glad I actually felt love, and even though it may hurt sometimes, it is the best emotion out there. And when feeling like a piece of shit, just think that you can only feel like a pieve of shit if something good happened to you once.

What triggers anything, what triggers fear? Pleasure? What triggers that feeling we get when we look off a high cliff which we call vertigo? Evolutionary constructs that evolved because they were advantageous to our evolution and survival. Why does one person fight and one person flee? Lack of knowledge as to why something happens does not relegate the fact that we evolved into the species we are and ALL of our attributes are a result of that.

I can safely say I've been in love twice, once about a year and a half ago, and once now.
The only thing I'm afraid of now is love ruining a friendship.
I've fallen in love with friends twice. Once my best friend and once (currently a good friend). Best friend is no longer my best friend. Current friend doesn't act like one anymore.

Love is all-encompassing and painful. But I am glad that I can feel it.

'Love' is making a shot to the knees of a target 120 kilometers away using an Aratech sniper rifle with a tri-light scope... Love is knowing your target, putting them in your targeting reticule, and together, achieving a singular purpose against statistically long odds.
What a perfect reply. HK-47 and his many amazing quotes...

Regardless, for how cynical I am about a lot of things, I honestly believe in love. I mean, humans can essentially synchronize their thoughts with one other already, love is just an advanced form of that.

There are answers to all of those emotions, actually. The fear and vertigo are due to the brain sensing danger and triggering various immediate responses to make it easier to survive the ordeal that is causing you fear. Fight or flight response to the question of why some people fight while others flee, it's because their brain have judged that the most survivable outcome is a result of one of these decisions.
But what, exactly, triggers love? What is it past that raw, baby-making instinct of lust that triggers the feelings of love in us? Sure, it's helpful to our survival as a species, but what intangible switch tells us that it's about more than making babies, now?
The incredible complexity of the human brain allows for a lot of strange, unexplainable things to go on within us, and perhaps the same thing that allows us to create art and give meaning to things that would have no meaning to animals (symbolism) allows for an intangible force like love to change the body's chemistry.

Nope. Not yet at least. I've had some crushes, sure, but this thing you call 'love' still eludes me.

I think love can be measured. Maybe in megajoules. Because it drives us. Who knows?

E: BTW I found love a few weeks ago and now I can't escape it.

Due to my life experiences i have concluded that if i were to ever meet the Goddess of Love, i would strangle her.
