Yet everyone out there is either a Sith Lord/Apprentice, Jedi Master/Knight, an evil bounty hunter, a smartass smuggler with a heart of gold, an emotionally detached female dignitary, an Imperial officer (or equivalent for the time period), or underworld scum? Sorry. It's just Lucas trying to sell the same story forty different ways, and it has done nothing but shrink the Star Wars universe.[/quote]

Well, I dont think we want to play 'Star Wars: Moisture Farmer'

EDIT: Stuffed up the quotation

Yeah, made by lucasarts = will suck.

And the criminal organisation thats hiring our bounty hunter will no doupt turn out to be rebellion who will teach our cold hunter the meaning of frienship and compassion, as they send him to blast imperials. And his heart shall grow three sizes that day.

Not buying gritty from lucas after atrocity of Force unleashed. Thank god bioware did better job at it with Old Republic. If only it had been a single player game...

Anyone wanna bet that based on the success of this, it will determine whether or not a Battlefront III will emerge?
As much as I hate to say it - Battlefront 3's dead for good. LucasArts abandoned that ship a looong time ago, with no intent of ever returning.
That's what we all said about toonami...
There's quite a few differences between what happened to Toonami and this, though. For one, Toonami isn't run by LucasArts. True, CN has a crap-ton of issues (what an understatement); but I don't think they're nearly as resentful towards their own franchises as LA is. Two, Toonami's a block of television programming whereas BF3 is a videogame. It doesn't take years of work to set up a block of programming. Three, development hell has an excellent tendency to ruin a game unless it's by Valve or Blizzard. Just ask DNF! :p I could come up with more, but I'll just leave it as it is for now. Btw I'm not trying to be an ass if I'm coming across as one.

Forget it, Lucasarts. Either the game's Battlefront 3 or you're not taking any of my money.

Okay, LucasArts. I've got my eye on you, though. And I swear to God, if so much as one lightsaber or canon character shows up, I will forget your name and burn every trace that we ever knew each other.
This is LucasArts... You will fight against a Jedi or have them as a companion or a main character or be serving Darth Vader or something!
I would hope you get to hunt one.

OT: There are two game franchises everyone hates but I love every single title. One is James Bond and the other is Star Wars, I don't think I've found a Star Wars game I didn't like. Can't wait for this one!
I'm with you on this one :] mostly anyway lol

even if it falls a bit short, like with Force Unleashed 2's story and campaign length, as long as it's still a blast to play then I'm more than excited :] and I am indeed glad to play as someone other than a Jedi

What's with every good E3 reveal being revealed the week before? It's very annoying!
This reminds me of a TV show that's been proposed about the underbelly of Coruscant, maybe it's turned into a game. It intrigued me back then and intrigues me now.

I'll be keeping my eye on this. I'm not sold on it yet, but it has potential to be quite good. Grit in my Star Wars? It's more likely than you'd think.

I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up, honestly I was expecting another bland Rogue Squadron game but hoping for another X-Wing series game. Oh well at least I still have most of that series

let us hope it is max payne in space.
That was the first thing I thought, too! Please let the gameplay be reminiscent of the 'Max Payne' games and integrate story development as seen in 'Gears of War' or 'The Saboteur' (fully playable with only weapons restricted).

Or... as we're playing as a bounty hunter... how about a tweaked 'Hitman'-gameplay? Or maybe something like 'Yakuza' in the Star Wars universe? That last one would blow my mind.

Not necessarily. Republic Commando and KOTOR 2 took a darker spin on Star Wars while still remaining true to the feel of the universe.

And hell, there's always been grit in Star Wars. The criminal scene was always a big part of the franchise, what with bounty hunters, Jabba's Cartel, and smugglers. Crime syndicates isn't that much of a stretch.
Smugglers and gangsters were never played "gritty." Well, possibly in the prequels, but even the Death Sticks dealer was played in B-movie camp-style.
My point is that the premise of the game doesn't mean it has to be blood guts and tits to be gritty. Star Wars has always dealt with the criminal element, and it can be dark, mature and violent while still managing to be fun escapism. They aren't mutually exclusive.
You're trying to dance around the verbage used, though. It doesn't have to be blood and guts and tits, but it still doesn't lend itself well to Star Wars-esque escapism. And AGAIN, dealing with the criminal element has never particularly been mature or gritty or dark in Star Wars, so pointing out that there's been a criminal element is pointless.

Of course, we ought not to expect global thinking from creators who think it's acceptable for each planet to have only one biome...
At first I was like "Oh shit... I never thought of that... Wow, you're totally right." But then I thought about it a bit more and really, if you take a look at the planets we know of and can see from telescopes or satellite imagery, Earth seems to be the only one that actually has variety. Just think of a few off the top of your head and have a look at their surfaces, inside our solar system and out of it.

Earth seems kind of unique.
So the takeaway here is that of all the planets we know, the only one that is habitable is the one that has a variety of biomes and seasons.

After all this Clone Wars cartoon nonsense I think we are in need of a something with a little bit more bite. Still can't believe Battlefront 3 was cancelled.
