There's quite a few differences between what happened to Toonami and this, though. For one, Toonami isn't run by LucasArts. True, CN has a crap-ton of issues (what an understatement); but I don't think they're nearly as resentful towards their own franchises as LA is. Two, Toonami's a block of television programming whereas BF3 is a videogame. It doesn't take years of work to set up a block of programming. Three, development hell has an excellent tendency to ruin a game unless it's by Valve or Blizzard. Just ask DNF! I could come up with more, but I'll just leave it as it is for now. Btw I'm not trying to be an ass if I'm coming across as one.Jabberwock xeno said:That's what we all said about toonami...V da Mighty Taco said:As much as I hate to say it - Battlefront 3's dead for good. LucasArts abandoned that ship a looong time ago, with no intent of ever returning.Sixties Spidey said:Anyone wanna bet that based on the success of this, it will determine whether or not a Battlefront III will emerge?
I'm with you on this one :] mostly anyway lolEHKOS said:I would hope you get to hunt one.TimeLord said:This is LucasArts... You will fight against a Jedi or have them as a companion or a main character or be serving Darth Vader or something!Dastardly said:Okay, LucasArts. I've got my eye on you, though. And I swear to God, if so much as one lightsaber or canon character shows up, I will forget your name and burn every trace that we ever knew each other.
OT: There are two game franchises everyone hates but I love every single title. One is James Bond and the other is Star Wars, I don't think I've found a Star Wars game I didn't like. Can't wait for this one!
That was the first thing I thought, too! Please let the gameplay be reminiscent of the 'Max Payne' games and integrate story development as seen in 'Gears of War' or 'The Saboteur' (fully playable with only weapons restricted).rhizhim said:let us hope it is max payne in space.
You're trying to dance around the verbage used, though. It doesn't have to be blood and guts and tits, but it still doesn't lend itself well to Star Wars-esque escapism. And AGAIN, dealing with the criminal element has never particularly been mature or gritty or dark in Star Wars, so pointing out that there's been a criminal element is pointless.Soviet Heavy said:My point is that the premise of the game doesn't mean it has to be blood guts and tits to be gritty. Star Wars has always dealt with the criminal element, and it can be dark, mature and violent while still managing to be fun escapism. They aren't mutually exclusive.Zachary Amaranth said:Smugglers and gangsters were never played "gritty." Well, possibly in the prequels, but even the Death Sticks dealer was played in B-movie camp-style.Soviet Heavy said:Not necessarily. Republic Commando and KOTOR 2 took a darker spin on Star Wars while still remaining true to the feel of the universe.
And hell, there's always been grit in Star Wars. The criminal scene was always a big part of the franchise, what with bounty hunters, Jabba's Cartel, and smugglers. Crime syndicates isn't that much of a stretch.
So the takeaway here is that of all the planets we know, the only one that is habitable is the one that has a variety of biomes and seasons.Grey Day for Elcia said:At first I was like "Oh shit... I never thought of that... Wow, you're totally right." But then I thought about it a bit more and really, if you take a look at the planets we know of and can see from telescopes or satellite imagery, Earth seems to be the only one that actually has variety. Just think of a few off the top of your head and have a look at their surfaces, inside our solar system and out of it.Dastardly said:Of course, we ought not to expect global thinking from creators who think it's acceptable for each planet to have only one biome...
Earth seems kind of unique.
