Uh, your kind of people are the people who try their best to destroy the lives of other people?
That's not a good thing, you know.
not the destroying peoples lives part, the increasing internet security part. im not saying this was a saintly action, im just saying that its probably benifitial in the long run.
Yeah, I suppose it would be if they were actually trying to increase internet security, which they're not. They're just getting laughs by destroying the personal lives of others.
What LulzSec is doing is exactly what needs to happen so companies will realize their protection is shit and they should be doing more to protect you, the consumer who buys their products so shares rise and they don't go bankrupt.

IT professionals have been saying it for almost two decades, and if CEOs won't listen to people who they employ, maybe they'll listen to people who do it because they can and may not be nice about it. Until network security is taken seriously, what is happening is the only way it'll change.
I won't argue the fact that security needs to be tightened, because many companies are woefully under-protected, I'll argue the fact that these assholes are doing their level best to completely DESTROY the lives of people who have no bearing over anything involving security, by posting their personal information on the internet, and suggesting that other people POSE AS THEM on their accounts, and deliberately fuck-up their lives.

These scum-bags are exactly why hackers have a bad name. You're not a fucking internet cowboy if you can push your way through BASIC security protocols with an SQL injection. You're a fucking low-life.

They screw with Sony? Yeah, that sucks, but I never play online anyway.

They screw with Nintendo? Yeah, but they didnt get anything, and I don't have anything to do with them anyway.

They screw with the FBI? Sort of a dick thing to do, but I'm impressed they pulled it off

They screw with Brink? Well, I don't have it, and don't intend to buy it, so it doesn't really affect me.

But now they screw with porn? This time, they've gone too far...

This after who knows how many sites posing as porn sites using malware to get your account and password. Lulzsec loses points for originality, and then loses some more for being big tattletales about it.
Military? Big deal, though I imagine some soldiers might be getting a stinkeye by their superior.
Government? Equal whooptedoo. How many congressmen and their aides to date have gotten busted over some such sex scandal after shouting out against sex? More than enough to be boring. You can bet tabloids are scanning those lists, but I doubt too much will get published or embellished on.

This wouldn't even get this kind of attention if Lulsec didn't just hack Nintendo.
Quit feeding the trolls!

(And watch out for malware sites, kids. I'd be more nervous about those people who hack and phish for your account info without advertising it.)

lolz. The only way people learn to be more secure is to have shit like this happen. humans have never been proactive at fixing problems. We only react to them. We wont fix internet security until enough people get screwed over by it.

Hell I wouldnt be surprised if a lot of the professional IT experts who have been whining about security are IN lolsec just to make a point.

I pay for porn. Same reason I pay for games and movies. I believe people who deliver quality work should be rewarded for it and encouraged to make more.

Why do this? A pointless exercise in dickery.

Escapist, could we stop posting news regarding this group? I think they've had more spotlight than they deserve.

I now dislike this guy even more.. not only have they now managed to hack all this stuff but they then advise people to go and basically destroy their lives by telling their friends and family about the porn they use..
Now I don't know about you but if anyone did that to me I would be very very annoyed..
These guys have no use to anyone by doing this..

EDIT: Also these guys are helping to improve internet security.. my arse they are.. Firstly hackers have always been 1 step ahead of security, its how they hack.. secondly if these f***tards didn't exist then we wouldn't need internet security past one measly password to keep out us lay people..

I've got friends and family being put at risk too. It's not like I want them to go rape and pillage every network they can find a vulnerability for.

But check this out, the only thing most groups of this kind have done is DDoS attacks. The only thing that does is cause the network to get overloaded with traffic. Not much of a security concern. LulzSec is directly targeting personal information, and I believe that is what it's going to take for the terrible business practices these companies have to stop. Only when their stocks fall will customer data be part of their bottom line.

As I mentioned earlier, I can understand attacking personal information, because companies need to up their security measures, but once the information is grabbed, and the security protocols are alerted to the intrusion, there is NO NEED to destroy peoples lives.

I would have no problem with what Lulz is doing if they kept the information they nabbed on a secure, separate drive, and got rid of it when they were finished.

What they're doing instead, is the EPITOME of Low-Life Fuck-Headedness.

Telling an internet full of douche-bags to impersonate random people and deliberately fuck up their personal lives is so low-brow It's offensive.

If you want to be an internet cowboy, at least be one with class and restraint.
