I won't argue the fact that security needs to be tightened, because many companies are woefully under-protected, I'll argue the fact that these assholes are doing their level best to completely DESTROY the lives of people who have no bearing over anything involving security, by posting their personal information on the internet, and suggesting that other people POSE AS THEM on their accounts, and deliberately fuck-up their lives.Low Key said:What LulzSec is doing is exactly what needs to happen so companies will realize their protection is shit and they should be doing more to protect you, the consumer who buys their products so shares rise and they don't go bankrupt.Darius Brogan said:Yeah, I suppose it would be if they were actually trying to increase internet security, which they're not. They're just getting laughs by destroying the personal lives of others.Smerf said:not the destroying peoples lives part, the increasing internet security part. im not saying this was a saintly action, im just saying that its probably benifitial in the long run.Darius Brogan said:Uh, your kind of people are the people who try their best to destroy the lives of other people?Smerf said:lol, if i had any skill at hacking id join lulsec. they seem like my type of people
That's not a good thing, you know.
IT professionals have been saying it for almost two decades, and if CEOs won't listen to people who they employ, maybe they'll listen to people who do it because they can and may not be nice about it. Until network security is taken seriously, what is happening is the only way it'll change.

Fools.
I've got friends and family being put at risk too. It's not like I want them to go rape and pillage every network they can find a vulnerability for.Darius Brogan said:I won't argue the fact that security needs to be tightened, because many companies are woefully under-protected, I'll argue the fact that these assholes are doing their level best to completely DESTROY the lives of people who have no bearing over anything involving security, by posting their personal information on the internet, and suggesting that other people POSE AS THEM on their accounts, and deliberately fuck-up their lives.Low Key said:What LulzSec is doing is exactly what needs to happen so companies will realize their protection is shit and they should be doing more to protect you, the consumer who buys their products so shares rise and they don't go bankrupt.Darius Brogan said:Yeah, I suppose it would be if they were actually trying to increase internet security, which they're not. These scum-bags are exactly why hackers have a bad name. You're not a fucking internet cowboy if you can push your way through BASIC security protocols with an SQL injection. You're a fucking low-life.
As I mentioned earlier, I can understand attacking personal information, because companies need to up their security measures, but once the information is grabbed, and the security protocols are alerted to the intrusion, there is NO NEED to destroy peoples lives.Low Key said:I've got friends and family being put at risk too. But check this out, the only thing most groups of this kind have done is DDoS attacks. The only thing that does is cause the network to get overloaded with traffic. Not much of a security concern. LulzSec is directly targeting personal information, and I believe that is what it's going to take for the terrible business practices these companies have to stop. Only when their stocks fall will customer data be part of their bottom line.
