They did, they brought the site down for a few hours after someone made a thread about them and everyone was calling them cowards and losers. Someone linked the thread to them on Twitter and the rest is history.

I don't feel sorry for them in the least. Not exactly a unique sentiment, but if you break the law you go to jail. They were, quite literally, asking for this to happen at one point or another.

Which brings me to my point. I can't say that I feel terribly sorry for these guys; sure, one could make a compelling argument for the motivations of some of their members & some of their actions, but the pure molten stupid of publicizing it sucks away my sympathy. These guys deserve to go to jail, but if getting sexually assaulted while you're in prison is part of it then it is cruel and unusual punishment. The fact that people think it is utterly hilarious that guys could end up getting raped in prison is horribly disgusting. The only reason I'd even BEGIN TO THINK that was remotely justified is if they were actually rapists, and even that's going too far.

Because he's got a damn point, people would be appalled to the idea of women getting raped over a crime, but you'd wish mentally and physically scarring torment on a few egotistical shits. There's an awful lot wrong about wishing that.

Chances are that they'll be monitored once they get out anyway, and considering you can barely survive without a computer these days, it'd be like taking away their ability to write.

Think things through before spewing all that pent up spite. At the end of the day, Governments have done considerably worse to their own people than taking down a few websites for a little while, and being a bit of a dick, y'know, like outright slaughtering people, yet they get away scot free.

Sentences seem too harsh in my opinion. Sure, the pedophile deserves his sentence but taking down some websites for a few hours and being an asshole doesn't justify taking someone's life away for 2-3 years.

A year or maybe half a year to scare them straight and that's that. But 3 fucking years? That right there seems cruel and unusual. But these are UK prisons, I don't know exactly how the situation is there.

Indeed we've had lots of stupid laws (and still do), from the Texas law that made sodomy a capital crime to the Jim Crow laws to the laws that restricted access to video games, or rock and roll, or erotica. Assuming laws are right just because they are laws counts as an appeal to tradition, or an appeal to authority. Neither have merit as they are not based on improving/protecting society and just allows abuse-corruption.

Just because there is a law doesn't mean it should be obeyed. Given that the fairness of a law is only challenged in the justice system, after someone disobeys it. Granted, this brings to risk penal consequences, but again, in civilized justice, consequences must be proportional to the degree of offense.

What about all the times you broke the law-ever jay walked you just broke the law and went against the gov and society you could have been responsible for an accident that killed people how much jail time do you deserve-what about piracy ever did that well you're basically stealing so it would be perfectly fine to give you jail for a year or two.For christ sake stop clapping and laughing mindlessly over this people your being irritating.
