Stupid organization makes stupid comment.

In other news.. water is indeed wet, and sometimes kills people violently. But as not to offend the substance known as water with this information, we will purge all reference to lakes, streams, rivers, and oceans from every video game to come out now. As well as any drowning victim reports that may surface.

..Sheesh.

It seems that someone has to come out and say something offends them every day in this world.

The response by Take two was well written and sensibly says that his argument is stupid and really has not strong footing.

If the guy from unico SERIOUSLY thinks that after playing this game, Im suddenly going to say, "you know what all italians are criminals ... wow i never knew that." He has serious problems.

The "Sterotype" of all italians/italian-americans are criminals is exactly that a "Sterotype" and sterotypes stay around because they are conveyed in many different types of media and by word of mouth. Calling him to ban this game will solve nothing as releasing this game will not make people for the first time think of this sterotype in question. Given its M rating people who actually play it, im 99.9% certain will have heard this sterotype before.

Of the top of my head in other media - The Godfather I, II, III, Goodfellas, The sopranos. And countless other movies / tv programs.

Grow up my friend seriously grow up..

It's kind of depressing really.

We get a game about the Italian Mafia, and someone complains it's racist.

We get a game about the Japanese Mafia (Yakuza 3), and the Japanese Mafia discusses how realistic they think it is.
What a wonderful world. Tch. Japanese mobsters saying how realistic a game about them was. Italians complaining about the Mob. The Italians are depicted more, and only now they get pissed? Might as well have protested Gigli too. That would at least have been useful.

There's not much to say, asides that I don't count that samurai one as a part of the normal series.

I am not sure why you changed it 3, the article I read it in was about the upcoming game Yakuza 4.

I didn't know they made a sequel to Yakuza 3. I thought you were referring to Yakuza 3 as Yakuza 4, because there was a samurai game in the series after 2.

As a German I would hereby like to complain about all the WWII games leading the next generation to believe that all of us are nazis.

It isn't the racism they should be complaining about, what is up with the playboy magazines?
Not that I don't like them, but my mum was in the room when I picked my first one up, that was quite uncomfortable... They really should have warned me...

The game also features Irishmen who are criminals, one guy is dutch-irish, and the all-american greasers aren't exactly shown in the greatest light either. It's by no means saying that all criminals are italian, or that all italians are criminals. Vito's mother, sister, and father, all obviously italian, we're completely law abiding citizens.

"Should games like Mafia II become the equivalent of a Sunny Delight commercial so that the nation's youth can all feel like they have a chance to join a criminal syndicate when they grow up?"

LOL oh gosh that's funny. seriously, it's nice to know people are wanting to spread ethnic equality for crime group memberships

My paternal great-grandparents (I'm told) came to America to escape the Italian mafia. I guess the game should offend me?

Sorry. No dice.
