I don't actually know if it's a bad game, since I haven't beaten it yet, but El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron:

Make the two attack buttons do different attacks.

Re:Coded for the DS - Needs more story than filler... or visa versa, depending if you're one of those that just "loves" to hate this game with a passion...

I get how this game didn't really add anything to the overall story arc, but if it either added more story to make it worth noting more within the story arc or just have it go full filler without any true connection to the story arc besides the characters... Then, I'm sure more people would have played it without complaining about its story significance... (as much...)
Re:coded fills in what Mickey's letter was about at the end of II (thus setting the stage for 3D) and introduced the Datascape, which is Maleficent's current goal (and a minor plot point in 3D). It's certainly not the most plot-heavy Kingdom Hearts game, but I think its significance in the plot is largely understated or disregarded by many. And that's a shame.

I don't understand the hate this game gets. Especially when Days was a fucking disaster in all regards (and people loved that somehow). At the very least, Re:coded was fun.

Speaking of which...
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days:
Go back in time and cancel its development.

Fix all CoD/Battlefield games one of two ways: remove single player cause it's just becoming more of a joke each time or replace the writers; because it's gotten to embarrassing levels of stupid.

CoD Ghosts almost seems like a campy parody with its exaggeration and lack of self-awareness
Is there no appeal in a campy parody CoD?

That's why I enjoyed the first Black Ops, it felt like a ridiculously silly pulp spy novel, in some ways.

No more heroes: both of them

take all those assassins that died in a cutscene and make them actual bosses.

I would be lying if I said that I enjoyed 358 more than Re:Coded, but at least 358 had more of an important story plot-wise than Re:Coded. All Re:Coded really had was Mickey's letter and its secret ending, with everything else (story-wise) didn't really need to be there... and that's where most of the hate comes from when you wonder why 358 is more loved than Re:Coded... hence why I suggested Re:Coded to have either more plot significance besides the letter and secret ending (unless the Datascape's coming back, plot-wise, in Kingdom Hearts 3 somehow) or just go full filler with nothing story-wise connecting it to the other games besides the characters and setting, given where Re:Coded take place...

Aw... I would have suggested:
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days Cinematic Movie
Add the actual battles that happened in the DS game! HOW DARE YOU JUST FADE TO BLACK ON THAT SHIT!!

(rant) Seriously, you took out the only good thing that made people actually tolerate playing through it (especially when, this time, we get to see it instead of actually playing it) and you replaced it with these "fade to black" jump-cuts... Even someone who will never play the DS version would wonder why the fuck you didn't try to animate those "off-camera" battle sequences, let alone a "screenshot slideshow" with sound effects playing in the background to signal a battle taking place...

I mean... DA FUCK, Squeenix?! (/rant)

Too Human - Remove the fact that it sucked.
...
It sucked ass.
...
It sucked donkey ass.
Maybe it's just because I hate loot-whore games like Diablo and Borderlands, but I can't really think of a way to improve that game. Perhaps if the levels were a bit more open instead of linear it would have served the game well. I mean, they were certainly long enough...
They were fairly long...
My God they were long...

I have very strong feelings about Days, and one of them is that its plot is almost 100% filler. Nothing that happens in Days has any bearing on the events of the rest of the series. Its plot is almost completely isolated.

If it weren't for Xion's unfortunate cameo in 3D, the game could be skipped entirely with no repercussions.

(unless the Datascape's coming back, plot-wise, in Kingdom Hearts 3 somehow)
And yes, Maleficent promises Mickey that she'll be returning to claim the data.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II

Actually finish developing the fucking game instead of kicking it out the door with festering wounds where the cut content was going to be.

Dark Souls: Oh. Shit. Can't improve this game because it's pretty much perfect. :)
Bam!

Dedicated servers, seriously the PvP is ruined by lag especially lab backstabs. With dedicated servers like the sequel should have it will be great.

I always love these threads, because people hardly ever mention actually bad games. Subjectivity gets you everywhere, apparently.

Sonic the Hedgehog (Sonic Next-Gen, Sonic 06) - Turn all humans into anthropomorphic animal-people
I probably would've gone with something more like "Give it longer development time so that all of the game-breaking bugs and terrible mechanics can be ironed out and the level design could be playtested and actually made good".

Sonic games taking place alongside humans isn't the biggest problem the franchise has had since going 3D.

OT: Sonic Adventure - Remove the time spent developing the modes for E-102 and Big the Cat and use that time to tighten the controls for Sonic instead and make the camera in "Final Egg" not be the most dangerous enemy in the entire game.

Sonic Adventure 2 - Either:
A) Remove the multiple game modes entirely and have Tails/Knuckles/Rouge/Robotnik play similarly to Sonic/Shadow, making all of the stages larger and more open and giving them multiple paths that only certain characters can reach,
or
B) Keep the radar in the treasure hunting stages the same as it was from the first Sonic Adventure.

I'll also note that I still quite like Sonic Adventure and bits of Sonic Adventure 2, but they haven't aged well at all.

Sonic 4 Episode I - Give it the physics from Episode II or Sonic Generations.

Most fighting games, especially the more recent ones: Add a decent tutorial.
Seriously, if we can't play your game, we aren't going to.

When the screen is littered with gauges and icons and stuff and we don't know what they do then they're never going to be used and we're probably going to get our asses kicked. That ain't fun.

Final Fantasy XIII: Do a major overhaul on the story's script so that the player doesn't need to read the Datalog to understand the game's story.

Skyward Sword: Don't show my collectible item being added to the inventory screen every other time I pick one up. The first time I pick up an item of that kind? Fine. Every time after that it's redundant. For that matter, just stop holding my hand so much in general. I understand that all that its there for first-timers to the Zelda series, but if you really believe that newbies need it, include a variant option at the start to go without it. Devil May Cry 4 had difficulty selection options that specifically noted "This is for players new to the series" and "This is for people who have played a Devil May Cry game before." Include something like that that would cut down on the incessant hand-holding for the Zelda veterans.

Wind Waker -> Instead of fishing for Triforce pieces under the ocean, you find them in dungeons under the ocean.
Well, they met you half way with your wish. In Wind Waker HD you find Triforce shards in the places you found their charts in the original.
I didn't mind the fishing, I did however HATE the fact that the game suddenly turned into a Ruppee grind to pay Tingle for his services as chief jerk

so

OT: Windwaker without needing to pay Tingle.
In the HD version you still have to pay him for three of the charts, which is about 1200 rupees, but that is a lot less than the 3200 hundred or so in the original game.

Minecraft, Terraria and the rest of the clones of those games - Make the combat not tedious as fuck. Im still amazed that even after so many shameless attempts at trying to imitate those games no one actually decided to improve where they failed the most

Darkseed 2 - Make Mike Dawson less pathetic. Actually, I don't think it could only take one thing to make that game better - it needs some therapy, and NOT JUST HYPNOSIS

Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly - With a lot of games, just give it more time to develop so the payoff isn't as... how it is.

Bubsy 3D - ....Destroy it. The ONLY way that game can be better is if it didn't exist.

Star Wars Kinect wasn't really all that... BAD. If they could change one thing about it to make it better though it'd probably be to make the gameplay less redundant. Nothing makes me feel like I'm a Jedi more than.... swinging my lightsaber in an infinite pattern deflecting blaster shots.

Batman Forever - MAKE THE GAME PLAYABLE. Seriously, what went wrong? Yeah, it's... SLIGHTLY more aesthetically pleasing than Batman Returns but MAN. How's a brother supposed to use the crotch-- err, grappling hook if you don't know where you're supposed to AIM the damn thing?

Huh... I usually say that when I talk about Re:Coded, in terms of talking about the plot... yet I still like the gameplay in Re:Coded more than in 358... I honestly think you really didn't need the whole Datascape subplot with Maleficent in Re:Coded when all Mickey had to do was do some techno mumbo jumbo that didn't need a "Data Sora" to "fix" Jiminy's journal, which would them lead to the letter Mickey sends to Sora and Riku...

The fact that 358's approach to having plot significance mostly cames from the characters themselves... which made it's ending all the more "sadder"... Granted, gameplay wise, there were A LOT of pointless missions that didn't really advance anything besides the day counter... ("Oh... That's why Xaldin's in Beast's Castle? Yeah, can we skip more days ahead, please?") Plus, unlike with the Datascape so far, the whole Castle Oblivion "subplot" does come back in a much bigger way... With the Datascape, I really don't see that right now, in terms of the whole Xehanort saga...

I mean, I hope the Re:Coded Cinematic Movie might change my mind on the Datascape, but just like how you stand for 358 being "mostly" filler, I stand by Re:Coded being "mostly" filler... with the one thing we agree on is how much more fun Re:Coded is to 358, in terms of overall gameplay...
