It does appear that in your story, you started getting like me "or whatever".drakenabarion said:According to a friend, I should reconsider names of things. She didn't like most of them. Still it was a fun exercise!
That does sound very interesting, although in some places I got a little confused, are the people diagnosed with windsturm isolated and evicted to the far off places, or does the general population live in the special zones?drakenabarion said:*snip*
I like what you're saying about the abilities, but, with what drakenabarion has laid out, I think that the symptoms should be what he said however, the advertisements of the disease have a selection of your symptoms to, namely aggressive, stronger etc. making the population fear the infected and act as motivation to have them taken away, which could also kind of link to finding out who "the real villain is"Booze Zombie said:*snip*
I know, I just wanted to put a group in there seeking to exploit a new resource, a new type of human, for the old type of reason.sms_117b said:I like what you're saying about the abilities, but, with what drakenabarion has laid out, I think that the symptoms should be what he said however, the advertisements of the disease have a selection of your symptoms to, namely aggressive, stronger etc. making the population fear the infected and act as motivation to have them taken away, which could also kind of link to finding out who "the real villain is"

Thanks for the feedback. The idea was quick to form in my mind, but the more I typed, the more difficult I found it to continue typing coherently.sms_117b said:That does sound very interesting, although in some places I got a little confused, are the people diagnosed with windsturm isolated and evicted to the far off places, or does the general population live in the special zones?drakenabarion said:*snip*

Not an FPS, but a top-down shooter. Something like the engine for Alien Shooter. Start off as a basic Scout or Space Marine (dunno what'd be cooler for story aspects) and then purchase abilities that branch off into the aspects a Space Marine might delve into (Assault, Devestator, Apothecary, Psyker) to become more powerful ala Diablo II. Actions for buttons would be simple things like combat roll/jump pack boost/teleport (depending on your path) for dodging, grenade button, reload, open ability wheel (kinda like the X-Men Legends/Marvel: Ultimate Alliance serise), block, jump, etc.Kuchinawa212 said:A FPS of a Space Marine
heh that would be cool. No wait a 40k Commissar, that would be sweet. Kill IG for moral and chainswording the badguys
What I was basically suggesting as an alternate story was a powerful medical corp trying to use Strum as a loyal and intelligent military force to usurp first the city, then an entire country.drakenabarion said:Wordy words
Haha, I was aiming for battletoads, "oh my god, oh my god, £300 a month new controllers bills" hard.Booze Zombie said:How strange... wwwwwww.
Your own idea, Dynasty, sounds a bit... well, it'd be very much open for a player to "ruin" their own experience.
I know gamers are used to "you died, try again" screens, but I feel your game as you suggested it, could be hard on the same levels as Ninja Gaiden, though not in the same way.
Depending on the system and style of the game, I would possible buy that if it was made.Booze Zombie said:Zip - Original post
Crap. I haven't played those games so I wouldn't know. Well, thanks for warning me.Horny Ico said:Hate to tell you, but this is a blatant Ratchet & Clank ripoff.War Penguin said:snip
I had it pictured as a first person shooter, taking place with the main character, a human turning into a demon, traveling between alien planets "evicting" the robots.drakenabarion said:Depending on the system and style of the game, I would possible buy that if it was made.
However, if it was to be a FPS, it would be nice to perhaps see scenes where you play through an abandoned suburbia, or something. I would imagine that the entire game would not take place on a spaceship, and, something different to to the normal grays and browns you so often see in FPS.
Also, what would be cool is a controllable free falling sequence back to earth, where you perhaps are required to fight robots on the way down.
However, I very much like the idea of a Demon required to balance the invading force.
Well, I meant like your average player would hop in, be like "I wanna rule these bit- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH" and call the game crap and blame everyone else for him playing a difficult game.sms_117b said:Haha, I was aiming for battletoads, "oh my god, oh my god, £300 a month new controllers bills" hard.
I'm interested in what you mean by "ruin", I know it would be hard, I know it would be frustrating leveling another general only to have him defect (with potentially half the army). Also that not leveling the character and getting attacked by Ninja Pirates at what would be the mid-point in the game would be all but a instant game over, trying to get someone to develop both the PC as a general and a character....or have I completely missed that?
What about co-op up to 10 players, a la Tactical squad, but you can't create a game until you're at the captain level, to reflect the fact you cannot yet command a squad, master crafted weapons could become available after reaching veteran status or you could go Terminator?HellsingerAngel said:Not an FPS, but a top-down shooter. Wargear would be sprinkled liberally throughout the game to customize your playstyle with your abilities with everything from jump packs to banners to krak grenades! An endless supply of replay value to collect more wargear to make the ultimate marine.
Also needs co-op with 3 other players (I always invisioned it to be on Xbox Live/PSN) to have a small squad of elite marines, as well as having CPU controlled marines fighting during the missions to give the real feel of fighting in a battalion of battle brothers. Various vehicles would also be piloted (if the player so chooses) in more open areas/large levels. And of course, the best part, being able to trash a multitude of races in strange plot twists (Necrons take over a Space Marine chapel and the SMs must make a temporary ceasefire with the Eldar they were just fighting to take back the area).
Of course, other additions could be something like a multiplayer fighting arena where teams of players can fight other teams. But what fun is it if you can only play SMs? If you can make the inidivudal games robust enough, it just means each race can be its own expansion pack! This would obviously make some interesting arena fights, import characters from different races to help a friend with cool combos like an IG Commisar, a SM Librarian and a Sister of Battle Canonness! How much cooler could you get with some 40k fun than that?
I suppose the long term goal would be world domination. When I read of the idea of the corporation, I thought Shinra from FFVII, and instantly thought world domination. Back in 1997, that might have been okay, but these days it needs to be more believable.Booze Zombie said:What I was basically suggesting as an alternate story was a powerful medical corp trying to use Strum as a loyal and intelligent military force to usurp first the city, then an entire country.drakenabarion said:Wordy words
They're realistic, though.
An attempt at world domination would be unfeasible without an established country, spies, sleeper agents and other pretty expensive and difficult operations.
Attempting to take over one country and turning it into the epitome of Capitalism and scientific endeavor with no morals is much more, I feel, realistic goal for a group.
