aww... no man, c'mon. that's like monkey island. the game was awesome, ended on a badass note, and wrapped up everything perfectly. hell, it even wrapped up tri-edge. (Kite and Ovan) the only way i can see that happening...Haseo21 said:Probably a fourth .hack//GU game
how about a childhood trauma to the back of the head, most likely the pituitary gland, increasing the amount of adrenaline and other stress spikers? Just throwing you this idea here because i think it would be cool, but maybe you have her age throughout the story. I'm just saying this, i mean its your idea but i think that would be cool.
I think, if handled improperly, the jumping in years might be a bit of a rip the opening of Fallout 3.
Hmmm, that could work. Puberty might a good excuse for the huge jump intensity of strum. But then there is the issue: I would like the characters increased strength, etc, to be uncommon. To use puberty would mean that every teen who could be affected would be affected.Xero Scythe said:go 13. young enough to be naive concerning the world, yet old enough so people won't rip on you(minus Jack Thompson, but he would find a way to rip on it if the main character was a stereotypical white male.). plus, hormones kick in around that, which increase stress. enter strum.
13 is a good age, but for the manifestation, I feel that an extreme fight or flight response would be needed. But definitely agreeing that 8 is far too young.

Set in 2014 The story is about a new World War. Russia's government have been overthrown by a fascist dictator. Their first goal is retaking their old satellite states, though they do not try invading Scandinavia, because they learned their lesson last time. They have made quite a bit of headway, with much resistance from the European Union. The last line of defense for Europe is Kiev, which is nearly surrounded by Russian Forces. Britain is embroiled in a bitter civil war, with Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales fighting for total independence.
Relations between the U.S. and China are very strained. Communism is stronger in China then ever, with an extremist leader at the helm. North and South Korea are near war, as well. With the war in the Middle East past them, and the economy recovering well, things are going well. They are minimally involved with the Russia situation, with small battalions fighting in Kiev.
Then, everything goes to hell.
A nuclear strike lands off the coast of San Fransisco. It is unknown who exactly launched the nuke, but it no longer matters. The U.S. declares war on both North Korea and China. South Korea joins the U.S., and North Korea and China ally.
The gameplay would be first-person shooter, but the sheer depth would be immense, with many different campaigns. An American, European, Russian, Chinese, South Korean, North Korean, England, Defectors (Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland),"Resistance" and Mercenary campaign, and that's just single player. Resistance players would pick between Russia, China, Europe, America, and the Korea's, and then fight with guerrilla tactics against those countries in their own land. Mercenary players would fight for who ever they want. They could choose to join a military contracting company, or go solo. Contractors would get more funds and start with better weapons, but get less of a choice of missions. Solo's have less money, has to supply their own equipment, but gets a bigger choice of mission. Mercenary missions would be more "behind the scenes" like missions with things like sabotaging and assassinations.
The American campaign follows a soldier fighting in the heart of China. European campaign follows a Ukrainian soldier drafted into a special forces-esque team from various European nations, fighting behind enemy lines in Russia. The Russian Campaign follows a Russian soldier fighting through Eastern Europe. The Chinese campaign follows a Chinese Soldier defending his home country. North an South Korean campaigns would both be fighting for control of the Korean peninsula.
When you start each campaign, you choose a soldier class. This class determines your equipment load out, mission objectives, and the way certain squad mates act around you. For example, choosing the Sniper class may have you teamed up with another sniper, providing support for the ground assault, while choosing the Support Class has you being part of the ground assault.
That's all I have right now. Suggestions?
Listen, all it has is a secondary storyline that can keep you occupied, and has a new root town, you can go to level 200, new items and monsters, and new quests and areas, sort of like an expansion packXero Scythe said:aww... no man, c'mon. that's like monkey island. the game was awesome, ended on a badass note, and wrapped up everything perfectly. hell, it even wrapped up tri-edge. hell, i can't see it happening. i love the series just as much as you, but the game series is perfect. you can't do anything without killing it, much like Pirates of the Carribean. but just 'cause they are money-grubbing idiots doesn't mean we have to be.

I was playing more for the ambiguity of who exactly launched the nuke. Also, a second nuke goes off in China at one point, but you find out that was the Russians trying to stir more shit up.Xero Scythe said:the deranged maniac hides it well; look up serial killer on wikipedia, then scroll down to the 'mask of sanity'. he could be the one who launched the nuke.Sentinel10 said:Well, the thing is I set it after 2012 because I wanted to say something like "The Sun or Space Rocks or Unknown Planets are not going to kill us because the Mayans ended a calendar. you could make it that a nuke ends us in 2012. that's a realistic fear, and if you already got something goin' for you, take it!

Ooh, that sounds like one of those twisted mind warp gamesfeather240 said:I've had this in my head for a while, so here we go.
My game is called "Restless", and is completely first person. It takes place in the year 2086, but still looks similar to the modern day world. Everyone in the world is in a cryo chamber living their life out by connecting to other people and doing what ever they want in a dream world. You however began to have nightmares after a year of staying in your chamber. You began to wake up and luckily for you yours is cricked open a notch. You get out and began to look around, and you smell something. You turn around and see the door behind you splattered with blood and torn partially off. As you make your way through you see dead scientists that were monitoring the chambers to make sure that everyone is stable before they enter too. You see more and more bodies. When you look into rooms about one out of every five bodies in a chamber are sleeping. The rest are either thrashing around violently and subconsciously, have a very heavy nose bleed and look pail, or they're watching you. All of them are locked in and can't get out. As you continue you see less bodies, but instead you see cleaning supplies. You continue this trail for a while. You see a glowing sombrero with wires attached to it. You decide to try it on and you began to see static projected over everything you see. You hear a high pitched noise and began to feint. You're in a dream world and walk around a bit. The world is a small room with metal plates and no doors or windows. in the center is a podium with a big red button on top of it. You press it and the static comes back. Unlike before you can't see the outlines of the walls and furniture and don't hear a noise. You feint and wake-up in the room with the sombrero. You get up, but are still in a daze, and you began to hear a ringing noise. You see a lap-tap hooked up onto the sombrero and it shows some security feeds. You see blurs rushing through the hallways on the screen, and hear gunshot noises from the speaker. Now you start hearing them going off next to you. You run and continue down the hallway. You see even more blurs. Your vision gets cloudy and you began to pass out. You wake up on your back. There's bight light going off above you and you can hear a buzzing noise. You try to move, but you're tied down to the table. After some fiddling you get out. You continue walking and find a beret with wires attached to it. You put it on and are in a room with a podium and a big red button, and an armed gunmen. He shoots you, and you began to see static again, but you aren't gone yet. You take him out, steal his gun, and press the red button. You wake up and see blurs chasing you, but they are much slow. You are once again on an operating table and have to cut your self loose. After escaping you see a red phone. It rings, and you pick it up. You listen to it and hear high pitched quick talking. Similar to the sound of a rewinding tape. It doesn't stop. You slam it down, but you can still hear it and it's getting louder. You pull the phone apart. It's still making the noise. You bash the phone against the wall. You can still hear the noise. You can't see well, and a door besides you opens. You find what looks like a conference room and find a gun. By now everything is going so slow you can't hear the noise anymore, but the blurs are back. They're much slower than before and you have a gun this time. The bullets go through them making smoke and ash, and they began to dissolve. You manage to take both of them out. You find keys floating where they were. You pick them up and open the two lock on the door, and turn the handle. You began to see tons of lights and everything seems to be going much much faster. Everything turns white and you wake up in another cryo chamber. Your real cryo chamber to be exact. It's even in your house! You look outside and see a desolate wasteland. Now it's the usual post apocalyptic scenario. Mainly because iIm tired of typing.
Well think about it, When Haseo destryed Ovan and Cubia, he probably didnt destry the entirety of AIDA, and Sakaki will probably try to seek revenge........again, but he gets an Epic Fail for his arena idea, and you should be able to get more peoples member addresses like Taihaku's, Sirius', and Gord's. Well if you think about it, Ovan hasnt returned so it'll probably be about........ohh wait thats right they already did that with the .hack//Roots Returner EpisodeXero Scythe said:umm... im still not convinced. what's the story?Haseo21 said:Listen, all it has is a secondary storyline that can keep you occupied, and has a new root town, you can go to level 200, new items and monsters, and new quests and areas, sort of like an expansion packXero Scythe said:aww... no man, c'mon. that's like monkey island. the game was awesome, ended on a badass note, and wrapped up everything perfectly. hell, it even wrapped up tri-edge. I like the sound of the sacrificial ending, (what I liked Fallout 3's original ending, came as a shock, but the game finished!) As for the little girls power spike, I thought you mentioned her getting tested on earlier, could it not be a result of that? Or use the simple plot device of a enemy boss saying "I've never seen one so powerful". Incorporate the replay system from Dino Crisis series, when you finish you can load it to start again with all your bonuses, that way all the items already found will still be found leaving fewer and fewer to pick up every play through making eventually salivate at the prospect of finally defeating the boos and getting the good ending.drakenabarion said:Well, I was planning that there would be a trauma. Except when you first see her, the is just a normal girl with no trauma.
Also, she starts off somewhat weak, but over time, and the more she uses her abilities, the stronger they get. Sorta like a leveling system but nothing as complex as an RPG leveling system.
But I do like the idea of limiting the abilities. I am just not sure how that would be best worked.
~
Then I've been thinking of just how far the increase in strength goes. Obviously, the girl is receiving much more energy than adults. Then I think that it could be added with a climatic ending where she just cannot hold any more energy.
Perhaps there is some sort of boss fight that is times and if she cannot defeat the boss in time, then she goes into overload and the energy defeats the boss, but at her sacrifice. So it would be like a bad ending.
Then that can be tied into a collectible item during the game that increases the time counter. The boss would have to be hard enough for it to be difficult without the items, yet still possible to get a good ending. The collectible items would be only an added bonus.
