Some girls need make up and some girls don't. There are some girls who look the same with or without make up while others.... they look like monsters without it.

Not really, if applied correctly.
I fail to see how nearly every single woman you see anywhere can look like a whore.

Well they do to me. Most woman are too self-centered about their looks and dress themselves up in make-up that makes them look worse.
Perhaps I simply don't live near your area...
I notice many young women who seem quite proud of their looks and experiment with make up to enhance features, getting a look THEY like, keyword there, they're not applying make up to look good in your opinion.
I don't quite perceive make up use in the same manner that you do... different minds think differently, I suppose.

I've asked a few girls this and their answer is invariably to do with feeling self-conscious. I.e. when they've got make-up on they feel more confident about their looks. As the OP says, most guys don't care particularly but its more a case of the girl caring.

This one is NOT TRUE. I mean, if it's only noticed when there is too much and it looks awful, how does that make you feel better?
Its the same thing as wearing the same socks, for example, two days in a row. No one will notice but you (or at least I) feel like the whole world knows.

There's one I can think of, Emma Watson

Females aren't the only ones who like to "look better" with make up.

If people can make themselves look more appealing by taking a few moments to apply some creams, then it's most likely that they will.
It doesn't all have to do with attracting mates.
Perhaps it's just because they enjoy the way they look with it on.

Though, what Hypothetical Fact said about dressing a certain way to get attention is very true.

I personally don't care whether or not someone has make up on, I just dislike it when they wear too much.

Edit: I wasn't using Tuomas as an example of something negative.
How could I?
*cough*
TUOMAS!!!! <3

On topic, I don't really bother, myself, but that's just because I can't be bothered putting it on, AND THEN taking it off. I'd rather have an extra 10 minutes in bed. But, I have to say, whenever I do put makeup on I think I look a lot better, mainly because I know how to do it right. Oh, I do use concealer whenever the need arises, too.

By the way boys, if you don't notice it, that means that means they've done it right. Any pretty girl you've seen on the street, they were probably wearing make-up, you just didn't notice ;)

Just because you (a stranger on the Net) are dumb enough to believe in me, doesn't mean I should. /wallotext
Because if you dont who will :D

Im sorry all you girls out there us guys might not have made it clear. No man, that wasn't gay, has ever kicked a lady out of bed for having wonky makeup ;D

Ever. Same with eye colour, size of butt, or any other variant of foible. Next time your looking in Cosmo compare the male models in the magazine to the guy walking past you to see the same male corrolarly (Im sure that spelt wrong)of your problem.

The other thing to bear in mind is if a guy decides to be with you based on looks is that the kinda guy you wanna be with ? I dont know if youve been told but human bodies deform horribly (Im exageratting kinda) after 25-30. You develop bits you need to ask doctors about. So if two highschool sweethearts hook up in 5th period because they both look good what are they gonna do when shes got a pimply ass from her office job and his gut is vying with his moobs for most forward projected body part.

All you gotta do to flip my buttons is smell nice (no perfumes just clean) and wrinkle your nose. Mebbe leg warmers, its an 80's thing.
Although I'm about ten years too young for you, I do actually wear legwarmers. They are just SOOO awesome....

Yes I am fully aware there is probably a little photoshop added as well but well. A relative of mine is a "model" and trust me. Before and after make up is a huge freaking deal.
I understand how great the women with makeup look here, but I feel that I'm missing the point a bit. None of the women without makeup look ugly. Maybe one or two look sleep deprived. It's possible that other people see things like that differently, but to me, makeup doesn't seem like a huge leap for any of these women.

Makeup, in my opinion, is something that people put on because it gives them something to hide behind. It gives them a new person to be; it's like creating the hot girl you always wanted to be in an MMO. When they're at home, drinking diet coke on the couch, they're just plain old "themselves." But when they apply makeup and go to school, work, parties, ect., they feel like new people, better people than what they were. Also, I assume that some people wear it because they feel they have to so that they'll look pretty at a party. I don't wear makeup, and I find it disturbing when used to make you look like a different person.

if you know how to put it on, it looks nice. However, there are a lot of women out there who don't know how. Make-up is also one of those things where th saying "less is more" applies.

I like makeup, I wear it every day. My face is like a canvas, and I like all the different styles and color I can experiment with to change the way I look. Most likely, its just because I'm vain, but I do enjoy the application and effect it provides. Honestly, I think I wear makeup for myself more than anyone else ^^

Perfect example, but you'll find most of those have been done professionally. Every day usage like that for the average woman would be pretty hard, let alone expensive. Yes we do notice the difference, because it damn well makes one!

I only wear eye liner, mascara and eye-shadow, is that okay?
I'm allergic to lipstick and concealer makes your spots worse.
Even if I wasn't allergic, I wouldn't wear it because your hair sticks to your face and you leave smudges on cups.
I have a theory that the more make-up you wear, the lower your self esteem is.

I am the proof that this theory is totally false. My self esteem couldn't be any lower, and I very rarely wear make up.

Yeah, I also have low self esteem and wear little make-up, which is why I'm not sure about it, lol.
But the girls at my school seem to hide behind 4 inches of make-up and ***** about people who don't.
They most likely ***** because their insecure about themselves.
But I don't wear make-up that often because I think you can't polish a turd.
To put it nicely, there's no point in me wearing make-up because I'd need more than that to make me look nice.

I know how you feel. I'm exactly the same. Lipgloss and mascara ain't gonna hide my ugliness.

it's simple hypocrisy really.

have you ever heard a girl complain that "guys are horrible because they only like girls who are fake"

... well girls wear make-up. it's basically being fake about how you naturally look. so it's actually everyone's fault
