Didn't this happen on back on a Madden game back on the original Xbox? I'm pretty sure that The Boondocks parodied this situation based on a real event 4 or 5 years ago in an episode where a man was shot after trash talking another man about Madden.

Does this remind anyone else of that episode from Season 1 of the Boondocks? The "xbox killer" killed his friend over a game of madden, and tom gets wrongly arrested because he was black.

The best way I could think of for cheating in Madden would be looking at the plays that the other team is making and then choosing the play that best counteracts that. But the thing about this is, how do we know that they were cheating in the first place? The cop didn't give evidence that proved they were cheating. The only thing I could think of that would lead to that conclusion would be the video game on when the police arrived. But still, how would that prove that they were cheating? For all we know, the cop could be an anti-video game believer and decided to use this as a means of swaying the Supreme Court ruling before the cops actually investigated it. At the same point, what if the article writer was an anti-gamist, and worded it to seem like it was over them cheating? Besides, there are plenty of things that they could break out fighting over while playing the game.

***If you are easily offended, don't read on.

For example:

*scores a touchdown* "**** yeah, b****! I'm beating your *** better than your gf's last night!"

"Wtf did you just say?!"

"You heard me. I ****ed your b**** hard last night!"

"Why, you little piece of ****!" *beats him up while friends watch in horror without helping, notices his friend is dead, hears cop sirens and steals a bike to escape*

It's very plausible if you ask me. We just don't know the straight facts for sure.

Ahh fuck my town is the news. First thought: Wait how do they know about the game link! Second thought: Probably has something to do with information that hey can't fully reveal without harming their case or some-such. MAy they be locked away and forgotten.

How about we meet half way. Paralyze them for life. That way every morning they have to awake to the knowledge that what they did resulted into living in there own flesh prison in a sense.
No. Revenge will not bring him back and neither will paralyzing them. Their conscience will get the best of them.

What ever happened to "Dude, cut this shit out or I'm fucking leaving?"

When did we resort to murder? What the fuck
An important point to make here: 'WE' didn't resort to murder. THEY did. Just a few (probably) drunken bastards. That's all. As soon as anyone starts generalizing this behaviour, ALL GAMERS LOSE. Calm down, folks.

And it would get the worst of them if they were stuck in a chair for life. Ever think they don't have a conscience? They killed a man for cheating in a video game. As far as i see it they don't have the capabilities for guilt.
If they don't have a conscience then they are mentally ill and should be treated as such.

...I don't have a conscience....i'm not mentally ill lol. K let me say it like this. I don't have Guilt Regret or remorse. They knew what they were doing was wrong but they still did it. And the Criminal Reform system doesn't work to reform them. They need to be punished a different way.
Yes you are. Guilt, regret and remorse are part of a normal human beings range of emotion. Absence can indicate something anywhere from aspergers to a brain tumor.

Also, you don't KNOW if they knew that. Either way, an absence of emotion would indicate a mental problem. Still, death is not to be taken lightly and neither you nor a judge have the right to decide if somebody lives or dies.

True. But i still think they should be paralyzed for life. Look at the 5 guys in a case that happened here. If i could i would put them all in wheel chairs.
