It's America, everyone has a gun.Greg Tito said:The GameStop employees probably did the smart thing by erring on the side of caution, but come on. You're really just going to let a guy rob you because he says his friend outside has a gun? Really?
Really?
I have the same feeling there. Really, if it wasn't on camera I would fail to see any reason to believe there was a theft at all. If the clerks did it they could easily get away with it. If they weren't on it they would have to be... I can't say the word... the words fail me while reading this article a second time. *Starts to weep*Douk said:I bet the clerk was in on it, that's what I would do for a free copy.
Though that guy maxed out his charisma stat unlike me, who foolishly buffed dexterity -_-
first paragraph is spot onReverseEngineered said:Really. Every major retail outlet has procedures in place for this sort of thing. They all say, "Cooperate and let them take what they want." $7000 is nothing compared to the loss of the clerk's life if he were to be shot. Insurance covers the lost goods.
That said, this does sound fishy. Gunman outside? That's not much of a threat; a real threat would be showing a gun, ANY kind of gun. How many people would believe him? And 100 copies? That's a lot to carry -- certainly more than even a dolly could carry. He had to have made two trips, in which case you duck under the counter and call mall security.
You do know that gamestop bought out EB-games like 5 years ago, right?Osaka-chaness said:This. Human life matters more than products. The training video for when I worked at Walgreens (and it's more than likely it says the same everywhere else) is to ALWAYS follow the demands of a robber, because you never know what they're capable of. Who's to say HE didn't have a gun either?AceDiamond said:Yeah I know, retail employees are really the scum of the earth aren't they? I mean they should be doing other stuff and...all right yeah I can't keep being sarcastic about how stupid you sound.Cid SilverWing said:They so did.Macksheath said:Meh, it was GameStop. They probably asked for it.
Anyway in regards to why they didn't try and call his bluff, it's pretty much retail protocol to not try and be a hero because the store usually is insured against things like this and therefore nothing is really lost.
Please people, keep your hatred of Gamestop out of this. If it was another company, like, EB Games (they have it up in Canada, for those who don't know) or hell, even a smaller, insignificant game seller, no one would be insulting them at all. They're just doing what they're told to do in a situation like that. Would you rather die than give up money, a game, or anything else? Think before you post, morons XP
"and for my next trick, my friend out side will shoot you if you don't give me 100 cases of that new modern warfare game!" I bet, he did it because you play as a terrorist in one level and he didn't wont it "corrupting the youth" or something equally flowed.sasquatch99 said:Seriously, how did he get out with 100 MW2 cases? He must be a magician of some kind.
