I suggest you stick to beer on the 22-hour flight, Yahtzee. I like you vids and columns, and I get to enjoy neither if you're dead.

That said, this gaming log (for lack of a better term) reminded me very much of Spider Jerusalem's way of writing. Come to think of it, you practically sealed it with the announcement of getting a buttload of drugs for the next flight.
I am on to you!

Was a pretty fun read, complete with some advice about customs forms. And it seems Yahtzee's getting a bit fond of the DS, too.

I'm waiting for the one where he tries to pass the time in a half-hour cab ride by doing a few lines of cocaine and playing Geometry Wars. :p

I like this, reminds me of the animal crossing review on fully ramblomatic. And somehow the way it was written made him seem more human and less demon reviewer.

Oh my, this reads oddly similar to what is widely known as a..."BLOG ENTRY"!!! Invented by Unknown, perfected by Umberto Eco and overused to death by everyone with a computer since then and forever and ever, amen. Still, quite entertaining!
At least yahtzee is entertaining, and maybe getting paid by doing it.
What is everyone else's excuse? (except the people who actually do things with them, like site/game/show news)
Perhaps they like writing.

Of all the hobbies in the world, attacking writing is a bit silly.

Why not go after the folks who habitually masturbate in nurseries?

Good call with Hotel Dusk Ben if you like some investigation stuff. You might want to bring some Phoenix Wright with you too. This way you can make fun of Japanese people while still enjoying a game ( strong point on that game are the story... weak points the occasional illogical evidence you have to use <.=.< ... save often ).

Kids in a three-aisle diameter of me < Sitting next to a very loud, obnoxious fat person

Good read, though, Yahtzee. Let me know if you need help summoning Gozer.

He said he's played the the N64 version in another review. The whole point of this was something to play on a plane. Getting an N64 or a Wii on a plane would be a bit tricky...
Nah, getting it on is the easy part. Finding a power outlet, though...

Friend, you've never flown first-class. Not only does your seat have a power outlet, but they pass out hot towels to put on your head (talk about classy).

The hardest part is getting a TV. Can you even get a portable LCD TV with RCA inputs?

Your best bet is to look at some of the maker projects where people are building consoles into laptop-like form factors. Or maybe just play it on your laptop with an emulator.

English food is "cuisine" in the same way jerking off with both hands is a "menage a trois."

That line made me spill my drink laughing. Now I'm sad. You owe me a cocktail, Mr. Croshaw. I'll take Ketel & Cran, tyvm.

I'm coming to really appreciate these 'random musings'... (It was never gonna be another review column, people: go back and read the first one: it says the purpose is to elaborate a little bit on stuff that couldn't be covered in the video format of ZP, and/or random stuff. File this under the latter.)

but I thought the original plan was to post these on Friday?

Heh, actually, I manage to fly first class quite a lot--for the price of a coach class ticket. Learn the tricks of the airline, play their game, get a free upgrade and some food vouchers (airport food only). The portable LCD TV's aren't that hard to find, in fact, there are specific such TV's out there that are designed with portable gaming in mind. They're about 7" screens, and run about 100-130 USD. RCA, S-Video, built in speakers, back-lit, the works (no HD, though). And while there are outlets in the first class sections, every airline I've ever flown makes a specific announcement (or depiction) that portable viewing screens are prohibited. You can have them, but you won't be able to do anything with it (and yeah, I've tried). The emulator idea is probably the best, though you'd need that plug again to really be able to play, unless your battery is a bit better than the average one.

It's always funny to see games reviewed by the hours for some reason (I'm not really sure why). I guess what really got me laughing though was imagining Yatzhee doing this in the voice of Rorschach for some reason. I will say that I've never been on a flight with empty seats next to me. It also seems to me like this game is really making Yatzhee tell us a lot of things we didn't know about him (first the older brother now the no hugs, though I guess that should have been blindingly obvious by now). Is this game better than a polygraph for finding things out about people? I wonder...

So, Yahtzee does still play Nintendo games and good ones to boot. Perhaps we can expect a review of Hotel Dusk in the future?

Just reading these makes me grow ever restless for the release of your book. I love how much you hate kids; damned whiny, runny-nosed little shi.. short people.

Also, it's disappointing that you decided to forgo the viewer comments this week; that was one of the best parts.

Looking forward to Zero Punctuation!

And what I mean by "not shovelware" is what you're talking about. It's clear that a lot of work went into adding all the things they added (and I mean that even without the mini-games, which I'll ignore for the sake of argument) and all the stuff they did to improve the original. Stuff like having better versions of all the character models.
On what planet is Bowser with an oversized noggin a "better character model"? It just makes him look like he has an near-explosive case of hayfever.

I never 'got' the whole Mario RPG thing, but then again, I don't like RPGs in general.
step 1: download Snes Emulator
step 2: download Super Mario RPG
step 3: play it
step 4: get $40
Step 5: Buy Diablo battle chest
Step 6: play diablo 2
Step 7: suck Blizzard's cock

More words? Less words? Moving pictures?

Maybe an analysis of the latest developments in the Halo franchise?

Personally, I prefered the first two Paper Mario Games over the GBA/DS games and I think that those games would port very well to the DS.

That said... Yahtzee: a 22 hour flight and you break down not even half way?!? You had an entire row to yourself, the best possible circumstances that you can get while sitting in economy-class hell, and you only last eight hours? You need more time in the air. I recomend a round-the-world non-stop flight touching down in Tokyo, Luxumberg or London, Chicago or LA, and then back to Brisbane. Don't pack knives, boxcutters, floss, or anything else that could be used as a weapon; your control over your psychosis will be tested.

Aha! Yahtzee's been through the pain of sitting with children on a plane flight too! Thus proving my theory that children are everywhere and are trying to take over the world. o_O
