So they dumbed down MVC3 even more then they did in in MVC2. Sorry if you guys cant handle the techniques involved in a technical genre.

If they are retaining the classic control scheme for the diehards, I see no reason whatsoever to be upset about this. In fact, I think this is a great idea! Maybe now I'll actually win a battle.

As the diehards move on or die off, not many will remain who have the patience to master the techniques. This is a way of keeping the genre alive and open to new players. People like you will still dominate but at least it'll be accessible for people like me who have no history with the genre. Also it widens the market for fighting games and we all know developers like money.

I'm pretty good at fighting games but I've always been terrible at street fighter and marvel vs capcom, I have it on xbox live so I sill play mvc2(?) with my friends when they want to play but I never get better lol.

I love how some people willfully choose to ignore the fact that this is an ADDITIONAL MODE, and act like the world is going to collapse because now newbies can play the game and like it. You can just choose to leave the old controls on -_-

It sounds like what they're aiming for is the Super Smash Bros. effect: adding a simpler method of control makes it easier for the casual player to pick it up and enjoy. As someone who can't stand complex controls in fighting games, this sounds like a real treat.

Sounds good, aside from SSBM/B, I haven't picked up a fighting game since SFII when I was a kid. Having commitments means not all of us have the time or inclination to learn separate move lists and controls for each game/character.

I can see it dividing the community, so they could just set it as an option in multiplayer (disable simple controls, or something). Would be a simple compromise.

this is good, but in fairness your just nerfing yourself. the most amusing example being dante who has like 40 special moves (seriously) and in simple mode he has..... 6! so no simple modes not gona be given any one an advantage, more acting as an incentive for new people to start playing.

This is great news. For those of you worrying about imbalance, allow me to put your mind at ease with how Capcom worked this system for Capcom vs. Tatsunoko.

The control systems were balanced by keeping a balance between ease and versatility.

For example, using Ryu, with the simplified nunchuk control method, you could do a QCF fireball easier than the player with the Wavebird. However, the player with the Wavebird could do a HCF fireball while the nunchuk could not.

So, what is likely to happen is that the person who is using the simplified control method will have an easier time doing the moves that are available to them. However, the person using the complicated control method will have the full range of moves available to them.

Having used both methods, I found that I prefer having the full range of moves at the expense of being able to just whip them out with a single button press. However, I appreciate that I can play Capcom vs. Tatsunoko against a non-fighting game fan and they still have a good shot at winning or, at least, not sitting there frustrated because they're unable to do anything without me backing off and letting them experiment before I either let them win or I annhilate them.
Pretty much what he said, the full movement mode will allow the full range of moves, the simple mode has a limited range but still enough to give the player a fighting chance while not giving them any major advantage.

This is a great idea, I really can't see a backside. I have the 2nd game on arcade, and as a mediocre fighting gamer, the controls are an issue. I might even consider playing this now.
