There is not much to say on the matter, so I shall let this image show my excitement:

That is incredibly dorky, but does sum things up quite nicely.

I also hate having to constantly manage and distribute loot amongst my squad. Does ME2 do away with this? (No, of course not because that's 75% of any Bioware game.)
but isnt that the staple of the majoity of RPG's?
True, it's pretty common but some of my favorite RPGs eschewed that model: The Witcher and the entire Gothic series. However those games replace loot management with obsessive flower-picking. At least Gothic doesn't cap your inventory in any way but they make you pay for it by forcing you to watch annoying animations for everything you pick up.

I'm not trolling I'm just pointing out that Bioware games aren't particularly amazing so saying it's better than them isn't any sort of indication that the game wil be particularly outstanding.
Oh really? So you've never heard of Baldur's Gate, or its sequels? Or KOTOR? Or KOTOR 2? Or Jade Empire, or Neverwinter Nights 2? Or the Star Wars MMO they're making that looks to be actually good? Or the original Mass Effect, which won multiple awards? I guess other than that they haven't made anything notable...
They didn't make Knights of the Old Republic 2 or Neverwinter Nights 2... That was Obsidian and (Obsidian...? Dunno, haven't picked it up yet), just the first games in the series. Also, you missed Dragon Age: Origins...
You're right about the first two, thanks for catching that. Dragon Age Origins I didn't forget, but didn't mention because I figured it was too recent.

I'm fascinated by all the people in this thread claiming that Bioware makes bad games simply because they dislike RPGs in general. It's like saying Bioshock is a terrible game because it's in first person and you happen to hate first person perspective...

It won't be the best game Bioware ever made, because it won't have Minsc in it. Or HK-47.

But that doesn't matter, it could easily be the worst game they ever made and still be brilliant.

Just take his words at face value.

When razors used to be two blades, they were all touted to be the best shave you could give your face in the history of shaving. Then someone made the the three bladed razor. They said the same thing. Then someone made the four bladed....

Yes I've played them, it's just that they're not particularly outstanding, I'm not saying Bioware make bad games just that they're a long way behind other RPGs made by other companies.

For once, I'm not incredibly annoyed when a developer says this type of thing. I... believe them. Oh my God!

Anyway, super hyped for Mass Effect 2. Yippee!

Although this game has been mentioned already...
It wont beat Baldurs Gate II, and thats a fact, jack!

[small]Let it be known, I never Played Mass Effect, so my scepticism is based on pure Baldur's Gate I and II power[/small]

I've tried to play Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2 several times, as well as Neverwinter Nights. For technical reasons I have been unable to play KOTOR, Mass Effect or Dragon Age: Origins, and I've never heard of Jade Empire. In that respect, I guess I'm not all that qualified to to speak authoritatively on the topic of BioWare. However, every single BioWare game that I have played, I have found to be the height of tedium. The plots, while somewhat interesting, failed to capture my imagination due to what I found to be lacklustre presentation. The mere presence of the Infinity Engine in Baldur's Gate was quite the deal-breaker (only Planescape: Torment has managed to entertain me with that engine, and that wasn't BioWare). I found the combat in both Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights to be incredibly repetitive, dull and unintuitive.

I expect I will be quoted and referred to as a troll or something similar, although my intention is not to slam the games, merely to point out that it is in fact physically possible to not find them entertaining. I don't deny their merits, I only state the personal opinion that their flaws - which, believe it or not, do exist - are writ too large for me to overlook them in favour of their virtues, of which I am very aware. Maybe these issues I spoke of are fixed or nonexistant in those BioWare games that I haven't played. I wouldn't know. Perhaps somebody could educate me?

Can't think of a better WRPG developer. Care to enlighten me?

I hope they aren't counting Baldurs Gate games in that, since for some reason they don't like making games that good anymore.

Troika, Black Isle Ion Storm and Origin systems to name a few.
Black Isle don't exist anymore, neither do Troika, Ion Storm or Origin Systems. All four of those examples are of defunct game studios which shut down.

Now, I'm not going to object to Black Isle: They've done impeccable work over the years and the guys who went on to form Obsidian have done pretty damn decently for themselves as well. I loved KotOR2.

I really need to get round to playing Arcanum and Vampire: The Masquerade, so I can't comment on Troika.

Ion Storm...eh, Deus Ex was good but never the pinnacle that people make it out to be. Can't really call Thief much of an RPG either.

And I've not played anything from Origin Systems, but honestly their lineup isn't exactly filling me with confidence; except perhaps System Shock, but again I haven't played it (yet) so I can't comment.

And? They may be defunct but it doesn't change that their RPGs are all of a significantly higher level of quality than all of the games Bioware has ever made.

Normally I don't believe this sort of thing at all - especially since Sony started declaring only the PS3 could ever do the games it has - but given how wary the team have been of previous criticism; how likable they actually are; how good the first one was and how good the second one looks, I'm inclined to

PISS MY PANTS IN EXCITEMENT!

Ahem.

EDIT: They did, however, make KotOR so this one may still not quite take top spot in my heart (but ME1 was bloody close.)

I am so psyched for Mass Effect 2. Only 7 more days...

On topic- ME2 will be and outstanding game. Bioware would have to try very, very hard to mess things up.
