I've just finished Mass Effect 2 and am slightly unsatisfied at the ending, mainly because no one died.

My reasons for this is that there was no emotional fallout and the ending itself was another obligatory cliffhanger. That and I screwed the romances up by somehow getting involved with Garrus who I only liked as a mate.

Considering if anyone has actually finished share their endings and how to get alternate ones

Also found this ending and couldn't stop cringing at how horrible it was

Just...Wow.......[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MGydAElpOU&feature=related

... Damn. Impressive.
I did as well. Just don't ask me where the last two days went. Also, I don't know how it happened, but one of my party member died.
Samara was taken by the swarm in the telekinetic bubble tunnel.

Also, I was male, so I chose Tali as my love interest. And I don't regret it at all.

I had all of my companions loyal except for Jack and Samara. With Jack I sided with Miranda during their little squabble and she got pissed off at me. Apparently you need higher than 80% Paragon to convince her not to hate you. With Samara I screwed up her loyalty mission and her daughter got away. So I went into the final mission knowing those 2 were going to die. I went into the biotic barrier area (with SuZe as my biotic) fully expecting everything to go great. I had Grunt and Garrus with me, both were loyal. So I get to the doorway thinking "Yes! SuZe lived!" ... and then Garrus falls down and gets eaten. I was heartbroken.

The big Terminator robot at the end was so forced, so cliche I almost couldn't believe BioWare made it. It would have been a lot cooler if it looked like a real reaper instead of Arnold Schwarzenegger

44 hours.
Completed every sidequest.
Explored every planet.
Got all the available upgrades.
All squadmates loyal.

Obviously, everyone survived the suicide mission. I felt proud.

My final mission choices :

Miranda as the second team leader.

Legion goes through the vents.

Jack maintains the shield.

Mordin escorts the ship's crew.

For the very last battle I picked Miranda and Garrus.

Et voila, No One Left Behind.

My heart nearly stopped when Miranda was falling down at the end, but then Shepard caught her and I remembered how to breathe.

I had Miranda as second team leader, Thane went through the vents and got a face full of gun at the last possible second, which pissed me off. Jack fell at the end of the shield and I lost Garrus, Tali escorted the crew back, Miranda and Jacob came with me to the final fight, with Jack holding the door. I lost two of my favorites and one I hated. Guess who's who. Bonus if you can figure out why that hate doubled.

Everyone was loyal except for Miranda because of the cat fight she had with Jack

-Legion went through the vents and succeded in opening the doors...shortly before getting his face blown in.
-Samara led the first fire team and lived. Because of this I thought it would be clever to let her lead the second one...and then proceded to die.
-Jack created the shield and held it...and survived
-Thane excorted the survivors back and survived. Yes I know that was a waste of a good assassin, I realised that moments later
-Garrus and Tali followed me for the first stint and survived
-Grunt and Tali followed me for the final battle and survived (again, I realise that it was a waste bringing Tali the tech expert into a fight involving Aliens that were rejected from Starship Troopers)

For my second run through, I'm still deciding whether to try and bring everyone back alive...or see if I can watch everything go to hell...

my ending
i put garrus as second teams leader
i had the Mordin through the pipes, while having grunt and legion with me, unfortunately mordin was shot
samara created the shield to get through the swarms while jacobs took the survivors back (both survived the mission)
for the last part i took legion and grunt again(because i had upgraded them the most) and left the rest to hold off the collectors did the final part (was alittle shock of the giant human reaper) and then the platforms started to blow up so legion fell.... and shepard did a dive for him i was happy:) and saved him but on the way back to the ship i got a clip of jack dead:( was alittle upset

and did anyone else think "ok if the reapers take the looks of the species they kill
terminator= human
Sovereign= very big bugs"

Legion was my tech expert, and Miranda led the second team. Both of them made it, but I had to run out into the open to release the last valve... Samara held the bubble while Garrus, Thane and I killed proved our worth as exterminators. She almost didn't make it, but did a last minute biotic bomb and killed most of the swarm. Jacob led the survivors back, which wasn't many (got to watch Kelly and a few other of my crew get made into human soup).

The giant T-800 was a pretty hard fight, as I had no ammo (I miss the old guns). No one died in the falling platform scene, and after a long run, Garrus and Thane jump aboard while I slowly follow. Garrus pulls me up and we fly away... Yay...

Being the Chaotic/Good guy I am, I saved the facility. I am really looking forward to see how that plays out in the finale.

I had everyone except Jack and Zaeed loyal (I was about to do Jack's loyalty quest when the Collecters took my crew and I didn't want to find out what happened if I bolstered my team while the crew was stuck on the collector base)

My Normandy was fully upgraded so I took no losses in the ship portion of the final mission.

Once in the base I had Legion crawl through the vents and Miranda lead the second team. I took Garrus and Thane with me.

Everyone survived that first bit and I saved my crew from being liquified into grey goo. I had Thane escort the survivors (I figured that as a nassasin, he would know when to sneake the group around Collectors.)

I had Sumara do the biotic bubble and had Miranda lead the other team again. Everyone got out okay from that one also. For the final battle I had Garrus and Sumara with me and I had Jacob lead the big distraction team.

Me and my team made it back to the ship safley after beating the Terminator and I was all happy thinking everyone survived..........Unitll the camera panned around and showed Jack's dead body.I didn't like her, but I was still pissed

Trying to figure out way to have everyone survive

My Shepard got all romantic with Tali before taking on the collectors. During the siege Legion took a rocket to the face, and Thane bled out while causing a diversion. Shame... I liked him. I knew I was sending Legion to die, that's why I sent him. He was a Geth, he was new, he was expendable. If I had known the leader of the diversion squad would die, I'd have sent someone I didn't like. Like that guy who's name starts with a Z. Chakwas and the rest of the red shirts died too, but Shepard survived, told the Illusive man to screw off, and blew up the station.

Incidentally, was anyone else who completed the Tali romance quest, really disappointed. I mean they spend all this time building up to "What's behind the mask?" and then they don't show anything. This isn't just the nerd in me disappointed by the lack of boobs, It's a serious lapse in storytelling that gives absolutely no emotional effect. Then after the little intro and fade to black, they skip straight ahead to the Illusive man yapping at me again. The romance with Tali might not have even happened! They don't even give us the courtesy of a little after conversation with her, that could at least wrap up a few emotional issues. I don't know about other people, but I was kinda pissed.

(Note: I just finished the game literally 5 minutes ago, so I'm still a little hot headed)
Note also that i'm not regretting my decision to romance Tali. I was about as attached to her as It is possible to be attached to a videogame character and still be normal. If anything, I'm disappointed in the game for not creating an adequate resolution to the relationship.

My only lost team member was Miranda. She held the door while I blew up the station. I had lost her loyalty during Jacks Loyalty mission and was never able to recover it. (My paragon rating was in the 90% range. Still not good enough.

My assignments:

Pipe: Tali
Fire-team 1: Jacob
Fire-team 2: Garrus
Shield: Samara
I sent Jacob back with the survivors
Main team was Grunt & Legion.

Edit: my paramore was Tai Zorrah vas Normandy. I stil wonder what her face looks like.

My ending
Nearly all upgrades-I ran out of money. I had
Vent-Legion
First team-Garrus
Second Team-Jacob
Shield-Samara
Survivors back to ship-Grunt

Moridin and Grunt died. I still have no idea how. After planting the bomb, there's that cutscene where it pans the room after telling everyone else to get to the ship. Moridin was on the ground. Huge WTF moment. Expected Grunt to die, be cause even though last time I had Thane and he was not loyal, it didn't suprise me. Dang it.

I ran out of money around the time I got the Reaper IFF. Do I have to do all of the sidequests and search every planet? I had enough mineral janx, but not enough money by about 100,000. Those two upgrades from Illium are the bane of Shepards existence. Both are 90k with no discount. Now I have to do it aaaaaaaaall over again to get that darned achievement.

*deep breath* Wall of text incoming!

[hr]

Before going on the suicide mission, I went through great expense to upgrade the loyalty of every single squadmember. I had heard that the loyalty of one's squad members could affect the ending, so I played things safe.

As for the Normandy's upgrades, I gave it every single ship upgrade available in the game, including the Dermal Regeneration (Yay, I'm pretty again!), and upgraded tons of stuff on the Normandy using resources gathered. I was going to go for that one upgrade that makes it so Unity fully heals your entire squad, but I was too impatient and went anyway.

[hr]

Anyhoo, once I headed out on the suicide mission, I was lucky enough to take out the Collector ship without any casualties at all. We crashed into the Collector station with only damage to the Normandy, and set out on the mission.

I had Jacob sent on the hacking sub-mission, and made Zaeed the leader of the second squad. I also ordered Samara to escort Chakwas and friends once we discovered them back to the shuttle.

I then nominated Subject Zero for creating the biotic bubble. Tali and Legion were my two squadmembers.

We made our way through the mission with relative ease; Jacob was killed with a headshot by Harbinger when we got on the elevator, and Zaeed gave his life for the second squad.

[hr]

Tali, Legion, and I fought the final boss and won without much difficulty, ripping it apart with my trusty Collector Particle Beam, and when the Illusive Man came calling, I made the decision to blow up the Collector Station.

My reasoning behind this is basically that you can't use a fire to put out a fire. All that salvaged Reaper and Collector technology might be useful about the Reapers, but I told the Illusive Man no good could come of it and destroyed the station.

As we got back to the ship, Tali nearly fell off the ship and I almost had a heart attack, but she made it and everybody sailed off into the sunset. I made sure not to completely sever my ties with Cerberus, and ended the game.

[hr]

Overall, I'm very pleased with how things turned out. Only two people died- Jacob and Zaeed- and I never liked them anyway.

That means you did it RIGHT.

You got all the ship upgrades (without them, some of your team will die in the movie after you take the Omega-4 relay)

You made the right choices on the Collector base (choosing the wrong person to lead alternate teams or escort people will get them killed)

You got everyone loyal. (When you beat the final boss, any team members with you at the time who aren't loyal, die)

I was a little upset because I lost Grunt (my own fault; chose him to lead a distraction) and Tali (no idea why; she just was dead at the end of the mission)

I sent Tali in the vents and Miranda to lead the first alternate team. Jack had the bubble and Grunt the second team (which killed him). Mordin escorted Chakwas and co. back to the Normandy. Final team was Garrus and Jacob, both survived.

Yes, it is. Illusive means transient, dream-like, unreal. The phonetic similarity to Elusive is probably not accidental, however.
