It sounds like shit. We don't want answers. This isn't LOST. We want an ending that makes sense.

Nice .gif [/yoink]

I would not be surprised if "Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut" is terrible. However, providing answers and clarification could grant us an ending that makes sense. If they truly live up to what they say, it is possible that the ending of Mass Effect could be salvaged.

Hell, even the Rachni Queen could be there to sing the funeral dirge about how Shepard freed her twice! :3
That goddam Rachni Queen gets kidnapped more often than Princess Peach. I've had it with her and her whole stupid species.
Seriously...and how the hell DO you get captured by the Reapers, get COMPLETELY Reaper-ized (i.e. installed with synthetic and mechanical parts...her mouth is a frickin' spotlight!) and yet you're NOT completely Indoctrinated? Honestly I seriously considered killing her even with my Paragon Shep purely because I didn't think she could be trusted anymore!

:p oh, and one of my favorite parts of the game is when Grunt comes strolling out of the cave absolutely DRENCHED in blood.
My theory stems from the same conclusion I came to about why they couldn't take control of Legion, even though he was pumped up with Reaper code and they had wires in him. Too complex for partial indoctrination, but too valuable for total indoctrination. Being the control center for a hive mind species would most likely afford a Queen protection from mind control in the same way that Legions more complex matrix kept him free of Reaper control. What's another voice when you're used to thousands all talking at once?
Ahhh but see that would imply that Rachni Queens have an inherent immunity to Indoctrination...however we know that queens in the past have been Indoctrinated, that's what started the Rachni War. "A tone came out from the darkness of space that hushed the singers and made them attuned to its own sour yellow note" or something like that, obviously the "tone" is the Indoctrination signal. :p

Well, we know that full blown Indoctrination eventually kills you, and they probably needed the Rachni Queen alive, so she could keep pumping out Ravagers. They need to keep sending a never-ending stream of those things to the same six Firebases.

Seriously guys, give up on those Firebases already. It's not going to happen.

What can fans expect from the Extended Cut DLC?
For fans who want more closure in Mass Effect 3, the DLC will offer extended scenes that provide additional context and deeper insight to the conclusion of Commander Shepard?s journey.

Are there going to be more/different endings or ending DLCs in the future?
No. BioWare strongly believes in the team?s artistic vision for the end of this arc of the Mass Effect franchise. The extended cut DLC will expand on the existing endings, but no further ending DLC is planned.
So basically they are keeping it the same, but they are going to try and explain it. Well it certainly will be interesting to see how they are going to explain the ending they gave us. I don't expect this is going to do anything to salvage the ending whatsoever.

I guess what I want is...

Will the ending make sense?
Will our choices actually be worth a damn?

While this is good, it won't really solve the whole "ending is a big steaming pile of shit" problem. If anything, I imagine it will probably just highlight those shit bits even more. I shouldn't be so quick to jump to conclusions though, so I will wait and see.

Well they might manage to make it make sense somehow, but i dont expect your choices will matter since they are only extending upon the ending scenes and aren't making any changes to the ending itself.

Eh...I'm skeptical. Honestly, the line doesn't read as encouraging to me. Let's review the key bit about how they want to "provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game"...I can't help but worry that when they define closure as 'context and clarity to the ending of the game', they aren't talking about the same thing that the fans are. Honestly, to me it's reading like they're going to just add to the Catalyst's exposition before you make your final 'choice'...which fixes very few of the issues present in the ending.

talking about it is fine but the whining and complaining about it isn't
And where, praytell, do you draw the line? I'm pretty sure a lot of people lump me in with the whiners because I had the audacity to imply that the ending was ham-fisted, lazy, ill-fit the series' tone and relied on a variety of literary faux pas in order to play out the way it did and that the writers owed it to themselves and the series itself to fix those issues that marred what otherwise might have been a magnum opus. Mind you, I made it a point to point out the various reasons I felt the ending was horrible from a literary standpoint throughout my posts on the subject, and I'm still fairly certain that my position alone causes many to consider me a 'whiner'

Yes, but that doesn't prove that it wasn't just the workers who were turned. Sovereign could have killed off most, if not all, of the Queens and still had hundreds of millions if not billions of Rachni under his control. I would love more info on the Rachni War from the Rachni side, but we only have the one Queen who was still an egg at the time. War is more interesting when you have an account from both sides.

I call bullshit EA gives nothing away free not even their higher C02 content air from the lungs. Not that I should have to specify but just in case that was a joke.

true. they are trying to do as little as possible, yet make it seem big, to try and keep their fans wrapped around their devilish finger. the SOLE REASON why they are making it free, is because they'd have one hell of a shitstorm to deal with if they didn't, and most people would just youtube/wiki the add on. otherwise you bet your sweet ass they'd be charging 10 bucks for it.

honestly unless it's the most amazing explaining i've ever seen, this will make a lick of difference. a piece of shit will always be a piece of shit until you use the pooper scooper and put something else there.

The Bioware forums are ablaze with QQ right now. Im disgusted by the fan base complaining about free improvement on the ending. If I were a dev I'd just avoid those forums and let the people vent amongst themselves

Sounds great. Let's hope we get a good explanation for the Normandy sequence, which still doesn't make much sense to me.
This.

I can deal with pretty much everything else by simply using logic (and my imagination) to fill in the other issues, but the Normandy sequence is what bothered me. Fix that and I'm good.

Although... I would love to see Reaper God Shepard (I picked Control for my Paragon FemShep) assuming direct control (in FemShep voice) and repairing the relays/various homeworld cities/Citadel so that galactic society can continue on. ^^

I can hope, right? :p

That's when you just break down and write a fanfiction ending. It seems to be the trend these days >.>

I had to come up with a new canon ME3 ending to compliment my ME d20 campaign this summer (3rd part in a trilogy) because it takes place during the events of ME3 and if the relays are destroyed it pretty much invalidates the entire plot of the campaign and everything they have done up to that point. Thankfully I don't need to go into much detail because the PC's aren't going to witness what transpires on the Citadel in the end anyway.

Okay, so the decision has come in, we're getting the DLC and we're getting it for free. Can we all agree to just decide individually how we feel about this and then move on? I'm weary of this whole thing and now that the end is in sight I just want it all to wind down and we can all go back to our usual practice of laughing at racist Xbox Live players and finding new and exciting ways to give DRM the finger.
I doubt this is the last we'll hear about this. Wishful thinking doesn't hurt though!

Hey now, those data terminals aren't going to hack themselves! Though on that note, I do agree that the Alliance should look into getting equipment that doesn't break down so easily. I think the problem is that both sides of the skirmishes have been watching old Captain Kirrahe vids and as such they're both trying to HOLD THE LIIIIIINE!

How the hell can they be proud of the ending in its current state? Breaking lots of promises, allowing major plot holes and all that illogical crap with the AI kid, that isn't something i would be proud of...

The fans didn't want Bioware to explain the ending to them, they wanted the ending to not be sh*t.
I don't see how this DLC will help much...
At least they are trying to deal with it, its a step sideways instead of forward, but they are making the effort.

Sounds like that effectively debunks the Indoctrination theory which fucking sucks
But on a more positive note at least we'll be getting some closure. Too bad we have to wait until the summer to get it.

Something tells me it's only free because they would get a massive shitstorm if it wasn't. A pr attempt to shut up the community.

Oh well...free is free. Now if only they added more depth to the dialogue and fixed the freaking quest system!
