By the way, how do you upgrade a weapon to level 10? Do you need to be a certain level first?
Has to be a New Game+. You'll start with all your old stuff, and the first time you find a weapon, it'll upgrade it three levels. You have to buy the last two from the console in the shuttle bay.

M-96 Mattock

M-98 Widow

upgraded to 10, both of these are amazingly deadly!
This. Except I favored the Raptor for my sniper rifle. Not the best damage in the world, but when I needed to take a brute down, and my Mattock was running low, Raptor plus Warp ammo equals UBER OWNAGE.

By the way, how do you upgrade a weapon to level 10? Do you need to be a certain level first?
you have to start a second playthrough with your character, complete the game then import your ME3 character, you'll start with all the guns you had in your first playthrough so you can continue upgrading them at the armoury.

Prothean Particle Beam + ammo powers = elemental death ray. That thing was just too much fun.

When I finally got the saver which is unfortunately late in the game, I loved it. Mattock is brilliant too aswell as the Widow and that white sniper rifle... I forgot the name.

In the multiplayer I really love the Raptor Sniper Rifle, but I might switch to the Black Widow once I get it. In the main game I mainly use the hornet SMG, but that's because of the damage/weight ratio. Spamming singularity/shockwave at 200% cooldown bonus is just as much fun as using any weapon.

The M-13 Raptor. It has the almost the same "punch" as the M-96 Mattock, along with operating in the same manner, but has the free scope.

I'm probably the only person here who's gonna say this but I liked the Viper sniper rifle. Mainly cause I'm an absolutely TERRIBLE shot with snipers so having the higher capacity and clip size made up for the lack of power since it meant I actually had a chance to hit things. Plus as an Infiltrator I had disruptor ammo upgraded to max almost immediately so once I hit something the stun let me take it out.

I would like the Scorpion, but since I already had sticky grenades anyway I didn't see a point in carrying it. I'll probably use it next playthrough though.

The M-37 Falcon for me. Always liked traditional assault rifles in ME but the falcon is just so effective even when enemies are using cover as they detonate near enemies and you can fire it beside or above them and hurt them with the shrapnel. Works at close or medium range, even long range if you can take account of its arc.

The Raptor, The Phaeston, and the Disciple shotgun for when things got upclose and messy. And I STILL had a 3% bonus to my power recharge. xD

Sniper: Black Widow with extended barrel and concentration mod.
Hands down my favorite rifle, packs quite a punch and the 2 extra shots replace the reloading,f yeah!
Pistol: Phalanx, because it's light, does reasonable damage and I can spamshot with its 16 shot clip.
SMG: Locust for sure, its accuracy makes it perfect for medium range.Basically a light replacement of an assault rifle.Loved it in ME2,love it in ME3
Assault Rifle: Phaeston or Geth Pulse Rifle, accurate, fast big clip. The Phaeston is light enough with Viper sniper rifle and its a good spamfest at medium range.Same for the Pulse Rifle, especially with the extended clip and full ammunition upgrade.
Shotguns: Maybe the geth one because I can charge it,I don't use them a lot.

It's all personal preference.

Does it have to be the same character? I was planning on doing another trilogy playthrough with different decision and a new Shepard. I find it pretty boring to play the game with the exact same character again.

I do not think any other gun than prothean rifle will sit on my shep for the first playthrough. On the second, however, I plan to be a walking arsenal.

Geth Pulse Rifle.
It can spray for days with some extra capacity.

But in all seriousness, the M-13 Raptor is my Infiltrator's best friend. In single player just install the slomo mod and you can get one shot kills on all the weaker enemies. It's brutally efficient.
