Hmmm....well i wasn't blown away, but I am a bit intrigued. The song was kinda weird though I guess it does fit the whole exploration theme in a wild west/frontier kind of way. Will definitely keep an eye on it.

So, no one is inclined to mock BioWare for ripping off Stargate Atlantis?
Because from the info so far, this trailer, and several leaks the months previous, this is basically Stargate Atlantis, the N7 version.
Meh, par for course really. I mean the first Mass Effect trilogy was heavily inspired by Babylon 5, so its will be no surprise if ME4 draws heavily from other well know Sci-fi series.

I thought the ME3 ending effected every single galaxy\universe? Didn't the Reapers travel basically everywhere to wipe out\harvest all advanced life forms? If so, why would Andromeda be unaffected?

Ughh.. so many questions.
Probably a retcon or "The Reapers were created here, so they don't go back" type of bull. I'm not expecting much considering their last three games have had underwhelming stories for me.
They only ever mention the galaxy in all of the Mass Effect games. They never made any statements about the rest of the universe in the ME game. Given the final choice was spread through the Mass Relay network and The Reapers worked around that network, it's neither a retcon nor a hand wave.

Considering they also said that it's impossible to move between the systems instantly and that only the Omega relay led somewhere they didn't know and the trailer having questionable travel systems...there's alot of explaining they're going to have to do because they've retconed and ignored the rules they set in the first and second games about alot of things.

I'm just really pissed at the moment because they're dropping all the implications of the Milky Way not being able to travel between systems efficiently anymore and what that means to go play magical ancient evil to defeat again. THey're just going to a new place because the old one doesn't matter anymore.

Yeah, do not like, would not bang.

I have a large list of objections I have about moving the setting into Andromeda, but focusing just on the trailer does not exactly fill me with confidence. I know I should not judge the game based on its trailer, but it left me with a deep sense of unease. A sort of dread actually.

I actually don't mind the 'western' theme so much, at least in principle, though why this needs to happen in Andromeda is beyond me.

So another year and a half away and it has been in production since 2013. That's about a 3 year development time. Hopefully it should be awesome.

So if this takes place AFTER the trilogy like it claims they will have to address some things (and establish some form of canon). Sure, they say it takes place FAR in the future, but we supposedly have a Krogan in the party. Does he still have the genophage? We're not all glowing green robo-monsters, so I take it synthesis never happened.

It's going to be interesting how many holes they make in the lore if they don't address some of this stuff is ME4.

I feel like vomiting to be honest. Who the fuck abandons the entire established universe to set the next game in a completely different freakin' galaxy? Oh, right. The guys that fucked up so badly they didn't know how to get out of the mess they've made.
Ehhh... I'll have to disagree with you on this one...

The problem isn't so much the ending of ME3 (which was a mess), but rather all the accumulated baggage of the series. At this point it's become impossible to tell a story in the setting without putting at least some distance from the first three games. You can't have established characters and locations just show up without accounting for the 1,000,000,000 permutations of outcomes from the earlier games. And if they do set it in a more familiar setting without including tons of callbacks and such, people would ***** about those not being there.

I find the idea of starting fresh to be a good one. Personally, I'm tired of having the weight of three games worth of minor decisions weighing each subsequent game down...

The music made me think of cowboy bebop and now I hope they'll make it an episodic space cowboy soap opera where you actually don't save the galaxy for a change.

That party DLC for mass effect 3 was the best thing ever so hopefully, they'll go more into that direction.

My thoughts exactly. Through the games you effectively decide the fate of entire species, they'd have to create entire separate games of different outcomes. And then there's the fricken galaxy wide synthesis. With other galaxy they can make the choices as passing mention, except for the biggest ones. I kept dreading they would make a prequel or force single official canon and the latter would have seriously rustled my jimmies.

I am cautiously optimistic, contrary to my expectations.

I hope you get to play a species other than human.
Already confirmed just human, unfortunately.

As much as I love this, the video failed to address some key questions, such as:

- how far can I drive the mako in a straight line before it is perpendicular to the ground

- what is the tallest thing I can drive the mako off of

- can I still park the mako on top of buildings

- can the mako parkour

What exactly did you want them to do?

There was no writing themselves out of that ending. You know it. I know it. They know it. Don't tell me you were expecting them to pull some brilliant authorial Houdini move to make it all better.

They could either:
a) Abandon the series (an idea which has its merits, much as I hate to say it).
b) Try to continue it with a traditional sequel. (Guaranteed disaster. Period.)
c) Hard reboot. (Might as well make a new series then.)
d) Soft reboot. (What we seem to be getting. "A bajillion years later and a long way away...")

I'd say the current outcome is about as good as we could have hoped for. Of course the game may end up sucking jut on its own merits, but that remains to be ohhhhhhh jetpack!

but everyone rushing everyone else and just kinda shooting blindly is a really stupid visual.
Did you ever play the ME3 multiplayer? That is precisely what half of the playerbase did so that cinematic is authentic as hell. Locked in Vanguard and charged whatever the fuck was in their way regardless of threat level, it was not uncommon to see people try to melee fight a Banshee. Y'know the enemy that has a one hit kill move if you get into melee range of it? Some people I swear...

It was a really surprisingly good multiplayer mode too, wonder if they carried it over to this new one.

OT: I'm glad that they moved away from Shep and them guys, keep the universe but Shep is done to death so we remove him, AKA what Ace Attorney should have done with Phoenix Wright roundabout the time Apollo Justice began development but hey. Please not too many "remember this guys lol XD" references to the old ME games and no cameos from ME1/2/3 because that would make zero sense but I can imagine them writing some in regardless.

I like them maybe dropping Reapers cuz I think I would find it hard to get into a new plot when there's a massive overhanging "and then none of this plot matters because giant robot death machines arrive, good fucking luck with that" point around.

wanted to take the "best parts" of the original Mass Effect trilogy
Take 80% of 1st game, add 20% of 3rd game.
.

.
Not gonna happen?
Well, it was fun knowing you Mass Effect, but we're parting ways, good luck in the future.
