I've had enough of your snide insinuations...

All right. Firstly, having the options explain, word for word, what he/she is about to do is not dynamic enough to keep a conversation interesting. The way Bioware did is much more fluid, and it's not that hard anyways.

Secondly, in general conversations, the top right option is Paragon, the middle right option is Neutral, and the bottom right option is Renengade.

Thirdly, Charm is the top left option, Intimidate the bottom left option in certain conversation situations.

I hope this helps. Though, I do have to ask: Why would you be so upset about punching out that bint in the first place?
if there was an option called "punch her" i dont know if i would be able to resist but that is not the case here the case is that i doesnt do what i thought it said it would do PS: this isnt the only time this happened i just thought people would like it better than the other times this was a problem and also if i was upset i would have loaded my save and did it again wich i didnt you cant tell if someones upset by a post on a forum

To be honest, no RPG developer is mad enough to let you control everything.
Nethack begs to disagree.

The dev-team thinks of everything, including using the kitchen sink as a helmet...
Do they let you wander off and farm carrots then have a wank over them? No.

My point proven.
Okay, point conceded. Nethack devs...They allow you to do pretty much everything but that.

Do what I do... (After placing the blame on the monkeys, of course.) Don't engage the renegade otpion when you don't want to go around being a hardcore badass. To be fair, what do you expect from the conversation wheel, 20 pages of exposition on the ramifications of choosing said options? Try playing Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness. Choose the wrong option there, and you get a game over.
Just always remember, the Renegade option is always going to help you pull a douche move by action or words. I personally choose to beat the crazy scientist down and then smile, suggesting it was all to make it easier to give him his meds. I also just sweet-talked the reporter.

I believe the option is "time to shut you up" on a renegade choice. In every action movie/game/ect ever the phrase "shut this person up" and its variants is followed by bodily harm being inflicted upon the person to be shut it.

What honestly did you expect to happen?

Not knowing exactly what Shepard would say in the game made it more interesting for me.

I think the charm in ME was that you didn't quite know everything that would happen. The dialogue wheel conveys the spirit of your words, but not the actual words. That made it much more interesting to me. And I could pretty much tell from the choices what the actions would be. Perhaps you just need to fine-tune your perceptive lenses, eh? As others have noted, the game makes a point of putting Paragon, Neutral, and Renegade options in the same place every time. So if you don't want to risk Shepherd being a bit of a jerk, then don't select anything from the bottom righthand side.
