Jade Empire movie next, please!

Who would play Henpecked Hou? And Black Whirlwind?
JACKIE CHAN for Henpecked Hou.....he makes a kick ass drunk.

I vote this guy as commander shepard.
You pulling my leg? Those pixels shooped? Never seen a man with a CG twin otherwise.
He happens to be the face model.

But, if they are going to make a movie I think it should start with the discovering of the Prothean technology talked about in the opening lines, and be about first contact with aliens...

I reckon if they make this movie, it should be about the Contact war. Easiest way to introduce the audience to the universe, by introducing humanity to it. It offers a chance to showcase several races, notably the Turians, Volus, and Asari and the Salarians.

Well, if they were to base it around the original story, Matthew Fox might make a good Shepard...now that he's done with Lost and all...
I have a feeling Ashley Williams would end up as Michelle Rodriguez no matter what though. The most typecast actress of all time.

OT: I'll go see it. Apprehensively, of course, but Bioware games have enough plot to make a decent movie. We'll see.

If it was a prequel or something.... possibly a film based on the novels, focusing on biotics and whatnot... it would be a good film.

Horrible idea.
What elevates Mass Effect beyond your average sci-fi fare is the ability to directly influence the proceedings. Take that away for the convenience of a linear narrative, and you're left with the wishwash storyline.
Let's face it; ME has a horrible story, and without the interactivity; without the incentive to play on and see what fate befalls the rest of the cast, I can't see myself even watching it as a TV-series.

What could work is to revamp the entire premise and let someone like Cronenberg have his way with it. Oh, or even better; David Lynch gets the job, casts Laura Dern in every part, and turns it into a three-hour long allegory for euthanasia.
At least it would be interesting.
Umm. No. The story isn't MIND BENDING or anything, but it kept me going during Mass Effect 1. And let's face it, there's almost no BIG choices in Mass Effect 1 that made the game epic, or really interesting. Only the finale really. I liked the story. It was a strong point in my opinion.

He's some kind of male model right? The male Shepherd was based off of that guy. At least according to wikipedia. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commander_Shepard#Commander_Shepard

Agreed, and get Jewel Staite to play Liara. She played Dr. Jennifer Keller in Stargate Atlantis, and Liara is a similar character.

Did they say that because of Avatar, aliens now play a bigger part in movies?!

What the fuck are they on? Aliens in film have been important since Star Wars the stupid morons! And the District 9 prawns had more emotion going for them than the damn Navi!

I'm confused. Isn't Mass Effect already a movie? A long, fairly weak movie with a thin plot, weak characterization and average - at best - writing?

I'd say I don't know who would want to watch this again, but I'm afraid I do. Ah well.

So, a Mass Effect film that's not about Mass Effect? I have to say that as a Mass Effect fan, I'd have zero interest.

And I'd rather see someone like Justin Louis as Shepard. I was hesitant to mention him because he's already performing a similar role on television, but since you guys had to bring Nathan Fillion into this...

What about the rest of the cast?
I think it would be interesting if they made the movie a prequel about Shepard and his back-story that you can choose. The one that would most likely be used would be the Akuze one. Maybe the can show how he became close friends with Captain Anderson. This way it would keep the story in the Mass Effect universe but at the same time help develop the character of Shepard a bit more.

Honestly, I think the writers that worked on Mass Effect 1 & 2 should write the movie. They crafted the universe and should have exclusive rights on what they want to write for the movie.

I doubt they will involve Sheperd directly into, probably something simply set in the ME universe would be best.

Ya know...that whole "First Contact War" thing might work as a setting/storyline...

Personally I think this is a great move. Both MEs are already very cinimatic in their presentation and adapting could end up working much better then most adaptaions have before, as long as they realize one thing:

They need to focus on making a good movie. Even though it is one of my favorite games ever, it's hard to ignore the fact that it was much less total freedom of choice and more picking subway trains through the storyline. There was nothing wrong with that of course, and if it had tried to do an even more open structure like Dragon Age it probably wouldn't have gone over as well.

So they need to figure out what kind of story they want to tell, pick that path and stick with it. There's no way they can get through it without making someone unhappy, so the best they can do is make something that is just good as it is. If that happens, we can probably appreciate it as a movie in its own terms. Best case scenario.

Also, the only person I can really see playing Shepard is Matthew Fox, best known as Jack from Lost.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-

I hope this movie has nothing to do with Sheperd and its a prequel or something. My Sheperd is a woman.

Unless its Nathen Fillion, this I don't care I love that man.

I would like to argue with that, unfortunately I have just lost all blood flow to my head after banging it in rage against the wall, so I cannot.
