Make that 12, I enjoyed it. Course I think its major problem like what as probably already been said was calling it Final Fantasy. The film had nothing to do with Final Fantasy, while I know most Final Fantasy games are set in different worlds with (plot wise)zero connection to one another. They do all have various traits connecting one another like the magic, monsters and feel... I guess its hard to express what makes a Final Fantasy game feel like a Final Fantasy game outside referencing the combat system.cainx10a said:Make that 11. I felt a little sad inside when the comic relief pilot dude died.drakythe said:I swear I'm one of maybe 10 people on the planet who actually enjoy(ed) that film. I actually still own it. Yes it is cliched, no there is no FF magic. But darn it, its fun and I like it.
However I'm sure a good amount of members here will see where I'm coming from, Final Fantasy has a distinct feel and look to it. This film had none of that out side maybe one or two references.
So the back lash from the fans was inevitable. However judged outside of the connection with the video games, its an alright movie, not the best but I enjoyed it. Certainly looked good and was a large step for animation. Though as one user quite correctly mentioned, it was really a head of its time, I imagine if it was released at around this time (with a different title) it would have faired much better.
