If Bioware continues trying so hard to please EVERYONE, they will end up ruining their games and pissing off their core fanbase. You can't please everyone, that's a well known fact. So stick with pleasing the majority you can please. It's just good business.
It's the future, silly. Everyone is bisexual. And since that is the norm (everyone), nobody ever really talks about it (as it should be in present-day real life - really, it's just sexuality, who gives a shit?). Everybody has feet, but we're not constantly talking about them, are we?
Maybe they did want me to play as a mage, but that's hardly relevant. Frankly, playing as a mage in any Dragon Age game is easy mode. It should be reserved for nightmare challenges, and even then DA:O Nightmare was a cakewalk with a mage party. Bioware is incompetent when it comes to creating RPG combat systems.

Some people care even for the story, you know. Not only the game play. I think it this what cause all the winning about CoD...
Yes, clearly I do not care at all about the story just because I care nothing about a minor relationship retcon. This is champion logic at work. And the CoD jibe at the end too! Ooh, that hurts!
FYI one of my favourite games is Planescape: Torment. So don't ever accuse me of not caring about story, because fuck me, a story is ALL that game has. The gameplay is akin to skullfucking yourself. (ok maybe not that bad, but still)
This is what I want to hear! Fuck, I'm tired of fan boy protecting Star War, that is actually worst with any release of the franchise...[personal rant, don't worry, I've nothing against you] In any case, in your first post you speak about the ME word being imaginary. True, and be recover who think other wise. But, the strength of a [story] writer is in how good, credible and consistent is the word that he make. How interesting, and yet normal are is character. How many plot hole he DON'T make. Said that, the OP first post have a sense to a certain degree, even if I'm pretty ok about the gay sex pop out out of nowhere. Until they fall on the Anders problem, where a character out of nowhere become gay, and show of his thinking to the point to be unbearable. Or homosexual stuff become a "mode", from one day to the other, in the ME universe.
In little word, I think that the biggest concern of OP is how the story will be played around homosexuality.

On this I agree. The tank build ws simply retard. It have no aggro manage, no survival tool, and was best with a two hand blade. As for the healer, well it is down graded from DAO, as now it have to be merged with the CC spec to make it work... So, you need to make your Hawkee healer to have a decent one. Simply stupid.
The way they present themselves and there games, the things they say in interviews: it has gone from a simple "We dont live in the 50's anymore so there is no reason to leave homosexuality out of our games" to "We love homosexuality, homosexuality for everyone, tough luck if you arent gay!".
Sorry for omitting the rest of the post, but this seems to be the very core of your problem.
And I don't understand it.
I truly do not understand it.
Nothing you say is an accurate reflection of the state of things. That BioWare introduce bisexual options doesn't somehow undermine or detract from the straight such.
The QLGBT themes in BioWare games are still in a decided minority.
Eh, I don't really feel it's that much of a retcon (if one at all). I don't believe they ever stated that certain characters were hetero-, bi-, or homosexual. So they could have it where a character that you weren't able to romance earlier just begin to have feelings for Shepard. It's not everyone falls in love at first sight. Sometimes it takes a bit for people to grow close.
It could be a great opportunity for a coming out story. Bioware has GREAT character development, unlike one other opinion I read in this thread, and I believe that they could handle a delicate experience like coming out in a character.
Well, first off there shouldn't be new relationships in ME3. This should have been done in 1 or 2, they need to focus on story and existing relationships. I have a bad feeling this game won't be nearly as good as it should.
One thing people needs to know is that the act of sex doesn't say anything about a person's sexuality. I know both straight women AND men who has on several occasions had sex with people of the same gender, and I know a couple of REALLY gays that has done the opposite.
So is the fact that you MAY be able to have sex with either Kaiden, Thane or Garrus so unbelievable?
Take for instance Garrus: WHen Fem-shep gets the opportunity to announce her interest in Garrus she doesn't mention anything involving "love"! SHe simply ask if he wants to relieve sexual tension with her right before a suicide mission. A Male Shepard could easily suggest the same thing seeing as it's about sex and not love, same thing for Garrus. Even if Garrus is heterosexual he might've been willing to "pop the heat sink" with someone before the final showdown.
It's not an unthinkable scene, seeing as it has been especially common in military context., like for instance the Spartans in ancient greece.
Oh dear...I really do regret posting this now. I never meant it to go this way. I don't really know how I could have worded this any differently...to really bring home what I was trying to say.
I wanted a nice debate over story lines and how perhaps this could come about....but I guess it's just not going to happen.
I do not want to say this...but I have to...did some of you actually read what I wrote? or did you just skim the title?
This is just...worrying in a way I can't describe.
((Apologies to anyone that understood my post...really. I had no idea this would turn out to be so vile. ))
This made me laugh, I only skimmed the OP... but I guarantee most people saw the words "ME3" and "retcon"... and that's all they needed. They may have skimmed the "gay" part in the OP to remain relevant though.
There's a strange phenomenon going around where people are ready to verbally destroy Bioware at the drop of a hat.
I really want them to make Garrus bi so I can get with him with my Male Shep. Ha that would be great getting with Ash and then Miranda and they argue trying to make me pick one of them and then I go off with Garrus.
I honestly don't see why this is such a big deal. No, that would be a lie. I do, and it disgusts me. If a player is so unsure of their own sexuality that they would be disturbed by the very concept of a homosexual relationship in a video game, perhaps they need to step outside the game world and do some serious introspection about themselves and the society in which they live.
For one thing, it's a purely optional, voluntary character path to follow. Shepard, Hawke, the Grey Warden, whoever, isn't forced to open wide for chunky if they're a male or go pearl diving if they're a female. There's no achievement, side-quest, reward, character path, or other perk for getting your gay on. If you don't like the idea, don't do it; that very same concept works for pacifist playthroughs, evil characters, themed character builds, voluntary challenges, achievement hunting, or any other alternate, voluntary method of playing a game.
For another thing, it's a video game. It's not reality, and it doesn't reflect yourself or any subconscious desires. I've played male and female characters of just about any sexual orientation in or out of the Kinsey scale, on tabletop and in video games, and not once has it caused me go get a hankerin' for tube steak or grow a vagina. Hell, I've even played necrophiliacs in tabletop (it happens when you play a Giovanni in V:TM or Pale Master in D&D, get over it) and not once has it occurred to me shoving my one-eyed monster in a corpse might actually be fun.
For a third thing, there are a multitude of obvious double standards at play. Lady Grey (remember her?) was an amoral slut, according to the game community. Remember that quest in 2 to revive her? if you married her your character is a necrophiliac and nobody seemingly batted an eyelash. Hell in Fable you can plow anything and everything that has an orifice, engage in polygamy, and in 3 in or out of wedlock. Where are the moral warriors who march en masse at the idea of a male character who's into John Thomas and his two hairy friends, when it comes to a character being a serial polygamist or adulterer (all which are inarguably less morally permissible than homosexuality or bisexuality)? Never mind FemShep eating at the Y with Liara, or a FemWarden making the beast with two backs with Leliana, because mygoodgoddamngirlongirlishawt.
Seriously, it's okay for MaleShep to plow Ash till the cows come home then cheat on her in 2 and presumably 3, but it had better not fucking be with a dude because teh ghey is teh badz. Blarfarblgarb.
If you're that disturbed by the very idea of two guys playing prostate hockey, just don't do it. If you're so offended that game designers added the possibility of two guys playing prostate hockey that you need to protest, vote with your wallet. It's not hard for chrissake, I do it all the time: I don't buy Madden X-TREME NFL 2012 Prestige Collector's Edition complete with Legacy Roster Day One DLC just because it exists.
Anyhow, retcon? Not really, IMO. Kaiden never outright said he was exclusively straight in 1, and you can handwave the lack of a romance between him and MaleShep to lack of communication between the two or just having more important crap to worry about. It's a middling thing to worry about. Besides, who in their right minds lets Kaiden live past Virmire, anyways?
Personally, I hope there's a ManShep romance option for Wrex that's played for pure laughs just to stuff it in the faces of the homophobes in the gaming community for not having a quad. I can see it now:
"Shepard."
"Wrex."
Suddenly, "My Heart Will Go On" by Celine Dion starts blaring as Wrex bends Shepard over, pulls his pants down, and gives him the ride of his Spectre life, complete with thrusting and grunting. After a little bit, Wrex says "we're done here" and walks back to his normal spot in the Normandy's cargo hold.
Achievement Unlocked: Six to a Couple (50G).
Shepard proceeds to walk funny for five minutes, like getting drunk in ME2.
The relationship was actually supposed to be in the original game but was cut due to time constraints. (If you dig deep enough you can still find the audio files.)

Thomas Roy of BioWare explained the potential reasons for their omission in this post [http://meforums.bioware.com/viewpost.html?topic=696098&post=6705519&forum=144].
Bioware specifically stated that they did not envision Shepard as homosexual. The ability to engage in homosexual relationships in ME3 is in direct contradiction with that comment. This basically proves how much EA actually manipulated Bioware.
OT: This is EA we're talking about, not Bioware. They're including homosexual relationships in the game now so they can be politically correct.

Errrk...I just love the smiley face at the end of his post. Yea buddy that makes it all ok. *eyes twitch* *eye twitch*
Heh I often wonder what ME3 would be like if they let David Gaider (a god among video game writing men men...to me) loose on the story....hell it might even improve a few notches. >_>
...and (on an indulgent broader note) also I might not have read all the sci-fi in the world but...why is the majority of it so bleeding homophobic? You know unless it's two hot women...or an entire race of women.

I should be more clear. Basically, there is no Bioware anymore. When I refer to Bioware I do so due to being used to refer to that specific developer as such. However, at this point there is only EA. They call the shots and they tell "Bioware" what to say in interviews and such.
