I wouldn't even be surprised if the story is all four woman are married to the original cast. Except you never see them as they are lazy arseholes and the wives take it upon themselves suit up and fight ghosts. Why? Because they are woman and they can do anything that any man can do. ;-) (Oh god please dont let that be the plot.)

Well, I hate to jump on the hater bandwagon... But they lost me at "Paul Feig is slated to...". McCarthy is the epitome of 'fat jokes', which as a plus sized gentleman myself, I just find insulting. The other three ladies, I know nothing about, but as has been mentioned, why ALL FEMALE? I mean yeah, add a couple, but... no

The rights to the movie should have been buried with Harold Ramis.

Is the thumbnail on this article the actual logo for this movie? Because if it is, it's a sad indicator of which way this movie will go.

I personally find the comments about the archetypal roles the ladies will most likely have to be hilarious. That is pretty much identical to the how the original was. The original cast did just that to a T.

I don't know how much faith I have in this to succeed though. I'll remain optimistic and hopeful that the logo doesn't have a venus symbol built into it, seeing as how the logo is universal.

I'm still cynical as shit, so this image makes me think it's just going to be the exact same plot as Ghostbusters 1, but with the sexes reversed.
In which case, I want to see who they cast as the male Gozer. I vote Keanu Reeves dubbed over by Arnold Schwarzenegger, because at least the sheer ridiculousness of that might at least have some absurd humor value.

As much as the mere idea of this movie was already an unappetizing prospect for me, if the humour is going to be anything like the "female humour" from Bridesmaids, I think I might actively hate it before it's even released.
I preemptively hate everything before it's released. That way, if I'm surprised at all, it's always pleasantly surprised.

Alas, I'm so rarely surprised.

Wiig, I'm excited about. The others I haven't really seen in anything, so I don't have much of an opinion of them. Although, any adverts for stuff that McCarthy is in haven't exactly endeared her to me.

So many delicious tears.

How can everyone always have such strong opinions (usually in contrary) to everything??

"Me need to do something progressive and diverse to boost our Hollywood Liberal Cred!"

"Quick take the script we got and slap tits on all of them!"

Aww I wanted Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to be in this. I just saw them in their bit parts in Anchorman 2 and I'd love for them to do another team up.

A female Ghostbusters team doesn't make any sense... women can't even wield longswords, how the heck are they going to manage a proton pack!

Are you part of this everyone who always has strong contrary opinions against everything? Or is this a different everyone you are talking about?

*gasp!* Melissa McCarthy, what a surprising choice! I wonder how this is gonna pan out. He said with heavy and obvious sarcasm.

Oh look, there's the obligatory black guy girl. Seeing as we're all playing the SJW card on this issue, couldn't they at least made it more diverse?

The SJW within me can tolerate that there might have been some sentiment of positive discrimination in a 1980s film. Why should they follow this when they seem to be on a course to fuck-up every Ghostbusters was?
Uh, I have to admit I never watched Ghostbusters from front to end, but wasn't the team three white people and one black person?
So? No reason to massively change things and have a black person in there now. Same as there was no reason to change Rue into a black girl in the Hunger Games movie, just cause she was black in the book.

(Also, notice how having a black character must only be done for PC reasons, not because they were the best available or something)

Well, if you're going to keep remaking things that shouldn't be remade, might as well re-make it beyond copy-pasting shallow character traits and one-liners. This might shoot itself in the foot, but ever since the outstanding new Dredd movie I reserve the right to optimism. It's not like this turning out bad would be in any way upsetting or relevant.

I sense you're either reaching or projecting here.

That said, I'm not sure THESE women can run around with proton packs. I'm unsure how active their normal roles are and am unsure how active they will be in the movies along with how active they will be while wearing the packs. That and I don't know how much the packs themselves weigh, they could just be empty plastic models. And EVEN THEN, body doubles for those scenes or CGI or some other Hollywood trick.

Fawk I let myself be baited into that response.
