Do you see cartoons like those made today? No. People don't want to look at anthropomorphic dogs or cats.
Yes. Rather often, actually.

People don't want to watch them since a lot jump on the 'Oh noez, teh FURRIES!! BURN IT' bandwagon. It's a cartoon. They can be whatever the heck they want as long as people find it funny.

Littlenorwegians said:
Really? Is an anthropomorphized animal on the internet instantly a furry thing?
I can see how they would like it, seeing how they're furries and all, but is any anthropomorphized animal part of furry-fandom?
No, although most people try to claim such things anyway.

Littlenorwegians said:
Shouldn't you all be out flaming old Disney movies and hating on young kids for watching them and recent stuff containing anthropomorphized animals?
You would think so, right? But hey, if it's not supposed to be taken seriously I guess they don't feel the need to bash it.
But mostly people are just hating on things they know nothing about. It's a new fad.

Hey, I thought Apocalypse Lane would suck. But now I love it...So, hopefully this will get good.

As of now, looks like shit.

Sorry guys. Jon Etheridge will have to work overtime to make this work. As in, do more than voice work. That guy is great, he's even a regular poster, too.
I know you hate people who say "this", but here I will do it - This^.
except the apocalypse lane part. I tried one episode and found myself very uninterested.

That's what I said after the first episode. But I got bored one day, had watched the rest of the site's videos, except for "doomsday arcade" which I still haven't watched a single episode of. And fired it up...a few hours later, I was on episode 26 asking myself where the time went.

Ha ha ha! I had it the other way around, only with Doomsday Arcade instead of Apocalypse Lane. Although I haven't watched Doomsday Arcade too far now (about episode 7), I find it funny for the most part. Thanks for the (indirect) advice, I'ma try out Apocalypse Lane now.

I have to say that Funk's argument appeals to my 80's and early 90's cartoon nostalgia, but I think there are two critical distinctions.

1) Darkwing Duck, Talespin, etc. were all zany shows aimed at kids where the anthropomorphic animals fit were in Disney's wheelhouse and fit with the overall theme. This show seems more gaming sit-com, but it's hard to tell from the limited information.

2) Furries have ruined everyone's childhood to the point where, for many, an attempt to resurrect the funny talking animal just elicits rage on the internets.

Still going to watch the real deal when it comes, still have very low expectations.

It seemed like it actually COULD be funny, but the "dogs" part is really pointless

Why not just have them humans?

#4 and #7 are the actual reasons [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/6.166654?page=3#4474638].

What, did you guys never watch TV in the 80s and 90s? That's like saying, "Gee, Darkwing Duck was great and all, but why did he have to be a DUCK? He'd have been much better as a crime-fighting human!"
many of us werent born yet in the 80s and 90s

Ah, well, this is where the whole thing rolls over and crashes in flames... Did anyone find anything about those trailers "funny" in any way?

Yeah, I totally don't know that furries are people that dress up as animals and are turned on by anthropomorphic animal creatures.

Some people stated that they have. Others obviously have not found it funny.

Which wasn't the point.
Thinking that anything that happens to be anthro is also 'furry', is what I'm going after.

You're still not exactly correct in the "furries are people that dress up as animals and are turned on by anthropomorphic animal creatures".
In fact, that's a rather bad stereotype that proves what I'd said before to be true for some people.

So, if you've seen it, watch it again and only focus on the swaying of the characters. if that continues it will be beyond unwatchable, cause its all i can think about now.

I could get past the furry if they actually had said something interesting. Sounded like the writer was going for some ironic humor there, but that needs to be in context. Instead. Whoever edited the thing only used the "saucey, I guess" one liners that were already made. All the characters are completely stereotypical, so the story will be lacking in terms of character interaction.

You know, now that I think about it, the cast is very similar to Avenue Q.

Princeton - Chet
Bethany - Kate
Rod - Roger
Gary - Mrs. Thistletwat
Random awkward guy that appears for point 2 seconds and vanishes miraculous - pretty safe to say hell be the lovable possibly perverted giant (Trekkie Monster)

Damn. Shit's Crazy.

Well. Avenue Q purposefully created a stereotypical cast so that its humor would come through a lot clearer, maybe they're going the same route with this. So its either going to be bland and uninteresting, or one of the most hilarious things you've seen.

don't forget one of the lesser rules of the internet,
furries are one of the groups that everyone are okay with hating.

Also, If furries do dress up as anthropomorphic animals and get horny over it...

I bet you hugged HIM as a child...

Dunno if it's been asked yet, but, why does the theme music sound like it's totally ripped off from Blue Oyster Cult's "Don't Fear The Reaper"?
The music in the trailer is a track by our long-time composer Ian Dorsch called "More Cowbell," which he wrote for me a few years ago after I specifically asked him for a track that "sounds just like 'Don't Fear the Reaper.'" We used it for this trailer because it happened to be the exact length we needed, and worked stylistically.

The actual theme music for the series is a different track, also composed by Ian Dorsch, which you'll hear on Thursday.

Hmmm... I'm not sure about this one. Might be great, but might also bomb bigtime. I'll watch it for a few weeks and see where it goes.

Honestly, I don't think there's many people here old enough to remember much of the 90s, let alone the 80s. If they do, it'll be the end bit when this sort of thing wasn't fashionable so much.

Although my reaction yesterday could be summed up quite nicely as "buh?", I'm starting to see where it's coming from. Having grown up in the 80s, I'm quite ashamed that it took someone to bold-facedly explain that particular intention before I noticed (though, in my defence, the touted '80s feel of the show' didn't come across in the trailer). Because, yeah, I have to admit I jumped to the same furry conclusion as everyone else, even if I didn't say it. Guess I've been spending too long on the internet and not watching enough cartoons.

Still, like I said yesterday, I'll give it a chance because... well, why not. At the risk of invoking Dr Pepper, what's the worst that could happen? I lose a few minutes of an otherwise empty evening. Oh noes.

(Also, since nobody seems to have mentioned Mr Funk's name change, I'll do it.)
